Director James Wan and Aquaman himself, Jason Momoa-along with Patrick Wilson, Amber Heard, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II and Nicole Kidman-return in the sequel to the highest-grossing DC film of all time: “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom.”
Having failed to defeat Aquaman the first time, Black Manta, still driven by the need to avenge his father’s death, will stop at nothing to take Aquaman down once and for all. This time Black Manta is more formidable than ever before, wielding the power of the mythic Black Trident, which unleashes an ancient and malevolent force. To defeat him, Aquaman will turn to his imprisoned brother Orm, the former King of Atlantis, to forge an unlikely alliance. Together, they must set aside their differences in order to protect their kingdom and save Aquaman’s family, and the world, from irreversible destruction.
All returning to the roles they originated, Jason Momoa plays Arthur Curry/Aquaman, now balancing his duties as both the King of Atlantis and a new father; Patrick Wilson is Orm, Aquaman’s half-brother and his nemesis, who must now step into a new role as his brother’s reluctant ally; Amber Heard is Mera, Atlantis’ Queen and mother of the heir to the throne; Yahya Abdul-Mateen II is Black Manta, committed more than ever to avenge his father’s death by destroying Aquaman, his family and Atlantis; and Nicole Kidman as Atlanna, a fierce leader and mother with the heart of a warrior. Also reprising their roles are Dolph Lundgren as King Nereus and Randall Park as Dr. Stephen Shin.
Directed by Wan, “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom” is produced by Peter Safran, Wan and Rob Cowan. The executive producers are Galen Vaisman and Walter Hamada.
The screenplay is by David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick, from a story by James Wan & David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick and Jason Momoa & Thomas Pa’a Sibbett, based on characters from DC, Aquaman created by Paul Norris and Mort Weisinger.
Joining Wan behind-the-camera is his sterling team of “Aquaman” artisans: director of photography Don Burgess (“The Conjuring 2”), production designer Bill Brzeski (“Jumanji: The Next Level”), editor Kirk Morri (“Furious 7”), composer Rupert Gregson-Williams (“Wonder Woman”) and music supervisor is Michelle Silverman (“Malignant”). Visual effects supervisor Nick Davis (“The Clash of the Titans” films, “The Dark Knight”) and costume designer Richard Sale (“Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness,” “Ready Player One”) also join.

Ah yes, Patrick Wilson, my underrated fave. So happy they decided to expand his role, and make him a main character in this second movie as well. Beautiful talented, show stopping incredible Patrick Wilson, playing such a layered glorious character. Love him.

The first one was one of my favorite dc movies ever, and this looks like it will be just as good, hopefully the amber heard drama does not hurt this film too badly

Glad Yahya is back and is playing more of a role in this one than in the first film. I just wish they would have stuck with the Trench idea and made it a bit of a horror movie like they had first mentioned. The Black Trident bit could've worked in that as well and could've played up the curse behind it more. Is the trident a take on the New 52's Dead King's Scepter?

You say the fact that this movie will have no follow up makes it less exciting and with that logic you must get minimal enjoyment out of any movie that doesn't have a sequel after it. I also enjoy super hero movies that aren't leading up to an Infinity War type movie such as Logan, Watchmen, The Dark Knight, Joker. At any rate the expectation of every superhero movie being a part of a mega integrated universe franchise is mistaken. Also keep in mind that these are fictional characters and "no matter who wins or lives in the movie", the world never "existed" in the first place.

This movie and every single DCEU movies have already been following a connected storyline and they’re supposed to be a shared universe and this movie itself is a continuation of that story. You can’t make a movie ‘solo’ when it’s already a sequel and part of a much larger shared universe. And No, it’s not the audience’s job yo assume anything. Why should I assume something which it’s not? It’s not a solo movie so I have no reason to assume it such . And in case if you have a hard time reading, let me say this again, when I already know what will happen after the movie, the story within the movie becomes significantly less enjoyable because the end is already spoiled. I don’t know why you are deliberately acting dense but a 10 year old kid would understand why spoiling a movie’s end would make people less interested in watching it

So, generally, movies have to make double their production budget and marketing expenses before they’re considered profitable. Fast X didn’t lose $ but it didn’t make a whole lot of it either. I’d say Universal is disappointed in their return on this movie.

Think about this... the first film had 2 villains. And those same 2 villains survived & return in the sequel! This opens so much more story to build off of, rather then just killing the villians off. Few superhero movies did this, and when they did the sequel was better than it's predecessor! Excited

May someone tell me what "boxing day" means? Is there a boxing match that day or sum? I'm dumb so can someone please elaborate?
Actually looks pretty decent all around. They're bringing back characters that worked well and expanding upon them naturally. They do not plan to introduce a whole new pointless villain and just kill him at the end, they're actually building the lore of their own little Aquaman universe. I respect that. Also, they were tasteful enough to realize they can't write out Amber completely, but they also have to minimize her role and screen time, and it looks like that's exactly what is happening in the movie. Once again, I can respect that. It seems like they really are trying to do best with what they have. We could use a good superhero movie, we didn't see a single one come out since Spiderman 3. Bring it on DC.
