    I like how Samantha answered Tabatha’s question: not glossing over that they had had a fight, admitting both were having a hard time, hoping she and Darren would reconcile, etc. it shows maturity on the part of the characters (and the writers).

      @@terencemckenna6468 Well, lazy at this point because this and many other later episodes are remakes of better, earlier ones. But I like Tabitha's reactions here. She's showing more maturity than either of her parents doing the "tell so-and-so" game.

    • @stanloretta92
      @stanloretta92 2 года назад +7

      @@kerrykeene6471 I'm aware remaking episodes started earlier, but later season remakes became much more frequent. That's why I don't think it's entirely fair to blame Dick Sargent for the decline of "Bewitched": the writing got lazy. It's not so much remaking themes, which I'm aware can happen, but verbatim dialogue? They really should've brought back the wider variety of writers they had in previous years. As far as the new movie remake, I sort of doubt it's going to get far, as previous remake attempts generally have not, with a few exceptions.

      I think it's worth pointing out that he's a small segment of her immortal life. she's already hundreds of years old at the start of this. I think she finds it a bit of a learning experience to try and do things "the mortal way" at the beginning of the series. But in later seasons, Derwood's rule gets to be too much, and her reasons for agreeing to it seem to turn into the man being king of the castle.

      Rather than the hairstylist, I place more blame with the writers who failed to come up with new and interesting stories. Case in point: this episode is mostly a remake of Season 1, Episode 5 - where Darrin calls Samantha a liar and doesn't believe she didn't perform witchcraft. Too many plot lines were being repeated, and because the viewers had been there and done that before, the show began to lose its magic.
