"Wolf" was another one of EXO's songs that the mainstream public thought SM was making an even bigger mistake with. It was a song and concept that was too unique for most mainstream listeners when it first came out, and most people didn't really like the song or the MV. However, as many have discovered, it's one of those songs that once you listen to it more, it grows on you, and now it has become much more popular.
So what you see in their "Wolf" MV is that all 12 members come together to form the Tree of Life and in the middle of the song you see how they split up into EXO-K and EXO-M and each group creates their own tree. How I interpenetrate that is they are showing how the tree has now been split in half and each half of the tree represents the two halves of EXO. In the intro to EXO's debut "Mama" MVs they talk about how the Tree of Life has been split in two and each half has been hidden away. As aliens from Planet Exo, it's EXO's job to find the two halves of the Tree of Life and reunite them in order to restore peace in the world. However, as you saw in the concert performance, they don't split up into the two separate trees any more because now there are only 9 members. After the 3 Chinese members left, they now do everything together, so there is only one tree. This concert was in 2016 and Kris, Luhan and Tao left in 2014/2015. You should also check out the EXO-M (Mandarin Chinese) version of their "Wolf" MV to see what the song sounds like in Mandarin and to discover how the MV is slightly different. In "Wolf" the members are supposed to be a wolf pack. So the entire performance and song is them acting like wolves. They are searching for the real Tree of Life. The shadows that they dance with also could have something to do with their X-EXO clones, which was later introduced in their "Obsession" MV in 2019. Therefore, in this performance this could be a foreshadowing of events in their storyline that only begins to make sense as the story evolves and SM reveals more details in the future, etc. Which is why we say, if you want to really follow EXO's storyline you have to pay attention to everything EXO does and you have to try and remember everything you have ever seen and heard from them, because the story may not make sense at the moment, but it could be important in the future to help explain something else that is happening in EXO's storyline. And, at the end of their live stage, I don't necessarily think Kai is breathing heavy because he is tired. I actually think he is still in character. He has that brooding expression on his face and he is breathing heavy because he is acting like a wolf. Although I am sure the members are tired after that performances, you would be surprised how well they are able to recover. In reality, if you saw them interacting with the audience right after that performance you would probably be surprised at how they don't look or sound out of breath or tired. They have trained their whole career by doing cardio exercises while singing at the same time, in order to build endurance and stamina, so they are able to sing live while dancing this intently and not use up their energy. It's no surprise that you are impressed by everyone's vocals and dancing because, as SM artists, that is just something the company is known for. As you may know, SM is considered the vocal powerhouse of the industry. You literally can't be an SM artist without having amazing vocals and dance skills, even SM's rappers get intense vocal training, so all of SM's artists are some of the best singers in the industry. And EXO are the perfect example of that. Just imagine, that was only one song from a 3 song set, in a concert where they performed somewhere around 20 to 30 songs. So, if you think that performance was amazing, keep in mind, after this they only took about a 5 minute break to get ready for the next set of songs and change outfits, etc. What Baekhyun screams in the middle of "Wolf " is "Tokyo Dome," which is where this EXO PLANET #3 - The EXO'rDIUM(dot) in Japan world tour concert is being held. The Tokyo Dome is one of the largest concert venues in Japan, which holds 55,000 people, and there is an unwritten rule that in order to get permission to hold an event there you have to be able to fill it to capacity. EXO are such big-name artists that they have no problem selling out within seconds of tickets going on sale -- they literally hold the record for selling out concerts in 0.2 seconds -- and they usually have to have multiple day events in order to accommodate the number of fans who want to attend. "Growl" is the follow up song to "Wolf. "Growl" was the song that was the lead track on the XOXO repackaged album, which came out in August 2013. Correct me if I’m wrong EXO-Ls but no particular KPOP group has ever cover this song because of those high notes that Chen Baekhyun and DO did. Only in korean variety show they covered this but with members from different KPOP groups.
