We lost John Ritter, Jack Warden and Gilbert Gottfried. The really hot Amy Yasbeck came back in the sequel in a different role (Maybe you remember her in "Robin Hood, men in tights" and Mel Brooks' Dracula spoof) but many of us knew about her in "The Mask". The best part of your reactions: recognizing Michael Richards for "UHF" and not for "Seinfeld"!
I’ve seen UHF a few times since watching “Seinfeld” and never once put together it’s the same actor. I don’t know how I completely missed that. Even now I can hardly believe it when I imagine both characters. While watching this reaction when she asked who he was, my first thought was “You saw him in UHF.” I’m still in shock that he was Kramer as well.
If you want to remember Gilbert Gottfried, look up the "You Fool!" episode of Hollywood Squares when he spends almost the entire episode expertly trolling the contestants. It is one of the funniest moments in game show history!
It was brilliant improv AND he did his job. For anyone who doesn't remember Hollywood Squares, the rules of the show were Tic Tac Toe with a bunch of B-list and C-list celebrities in each of the nine squares (you know, people famous enough you'd recognize if you saw them but not so famous you'd tune in just to watch them). Contestants would pick one of the squares and the celebrity would be asked a trivia question with the contestant saying "Agree" or "Disagree" with their answer. If the contestant got it wrong, their opponent would get the square...UNLESS that was the square they needed to win. Also, in additional to getting three in a row, you could win by getting 5 squares anywhere (to prevent the old Tic-Tac-Toe "the only winning move is not to play" ties). It was about as mundane as it sounds, the sort of game show you wouldn't turn off if the remote wasn't in your hand but not exactly something you're going to tune into every day either. Then came the Gilbert Gottfried moment...you've likely seen the clip by now but just search "Gilbert Gottfried You Fool" and you'll find it. The game had the two contestants with 4 squares each and the final square was Gilbert Gottfriend. And when I say he did his job, the show's writers had two answers for each question, the first was a "joke answer" that was standard 80s/90s level daytime talk show level jokes and then the "real answer", which may or may not be the right answer. When asked the question, the celebrity was to read the joke answer, then read the "real answer". And Gilbert did exactly that. He did his job...but then he improvised by adding the "YOU FOOL!" every time they got the answer wrong even cutting off the host from telling them if the contestant got it wrong. It's also an amazing lesson in comedic escalation and timing if you want to learn from a master.
The roast he did for Hugh Hefner is a classic it a joke for comedians that all famous comedians tell each other with their own spin to each other WARNING only watch it if you can take and like Very Adult humor with dirty words and situations, not for kids. It it easy to find on RUclips.

Yes, when kids don't get adopted that's precisely what happens sadly. And honestly, once you enter your preteens the chances of adoption drop like crazy.
yup, they age out of foster care and are on their own. There is a place in Florida called Forgotten Angel's. This couple takes them in, teaches them how to balance finances, how to drive, how to make a resume. They have the young men learn to build a tiny home and the young men live there, until the kids are ready to leave. It is an amazing place.
@@ministrylv That is AWESOME!!! I worked at a homeless youth shelter here in town for about ten years and... yeah. It was a lot less hopeful, for kids exiting the system and just sorta tossed out into the world. Especially since places were often overcrowded and they wound up leaving foster care for one reason or another early.
Yyaaaaaassss! I think that will always be my most favorite delivery of that word in ANY movie. I'm laughing even now just remembering him saying it. Ashleigh reeeaally needs to watch that one, if for no other reason than THAT line. 🤣
Theres a video on youtube of Gilbert crashing a chaz palmintari interview and they have him sit down and chaz says Man me a my friends still laugh about that line where you scream b itch into the phone and Gilbert says You know when they play that on network TV they censor that part and chaz says oh man then it's just not the same , what word do they use instead... ? and Gilbert screams , C U N T ! 😂
I am one of the few who love this and the second movie. The boy's bad acting actually works for the comedy. It is true he is mean to everyone, but half the time they deserve the treatment. Too many who watch these don't seem to understand the underlying themes of hypocrisy, loneliness, acceptance, misplaced idolization, and more. Besides, based on her reactions she liked it more than she wanted to admit.
I think Little Ben saw himself in Junior, seeing as his own wife, his own father and most of the community didn't really respect him either. That's why he could not give up on him; Little Ben was the only person in the movie who really cared about Junior, and Junior was the only person in the movie who really cared about Little Ben. The only time Little Ben directly got Junior's wrath, was when he almost returned Junior to the orphanage, and Junior reacted by crashing Little Ben's car through Big Ben's store window. The major difference between Little Ben and Junior here is how they react to the disrespect. Little Ben reacts cold by just never standing up for himself and letting everyone walk all over him, whereas Junior reacts hot by letting his tormentors really have it. In the end, Junior learned from Ben that there are people who will love him for who he is if he tones down his hotheadedness, and Little Ben learned from Junior that it is okay to stand up for yourself if you really care about something others are trying to take away from you.
She can now watch Problem child 2 and 3 :-) Think that CSI episode he was in is one with most screen time Gilbert Gottfried had 2016 The Comedian would have been better , just for the cast in that movie , Gilbert plays him self .
@@jamesnoneyabizness5611 Ha! I knew there was a second but had the same reaction just now reading there was a third...and I was in 8 or 9th grade when the first one came out, lol! Let's be honest though... They're all #2 ;D
Back when "Fifty Shades of Gray" was the big thing, someone did an ad for the audiobook "read by one of the most recognizable voices of our time" -- Gilbert Gottfried. It's on RUclips, search for it.
Suggestion: You should watch "Dirty Work", which is a movie with a lot of problems script-wise but it has a dozen classic comedy bits...AND it stars Norm Macdonald who suddenly died of cancer late 2021 after an almost decade-long fight that he told NO ONE about. It was also directed by his friend Bob Saget, who ALSO suddenly died a few months ago, and it features the late Don Rickles (a comedy genious that you probably only know as the voice of Mr. Potato Head) and the late Chris Farley.
Seconded. Doom Rickles roasting Artie Lange is great. Speaking of Norm MacDonald movies, there's "Screwed", which also has Dave Chappelle, Danny DeVito, Elaine Stritch & Sherman Hemsley.
When you announced that you were going to be reacting to this movie, I said to myself, "I'd be very surprised if Ashleigh likes this one." I'm not surprised that you didn't surprise me.
@@angrytheclown801 I've recommended the Toy to her in past comments but mainly because I really want her to discover Richard Pryor. She loves Gene Wilder so I know she'll love the movies that they are in together. The Toy is definitely a movie that cannot be made today and it's hilarious that the child in that movie "Master Bates" lol, grew up to be an adult film star.
@@2buxaslice I was not aware he became an adult film star, that is genuinely amusing. Man the politics in that movie. Richard Pryor was always a fun time but damn.
Yes, that's Gilbert's real voice, and he was a fantastic character actor/bit player. The bowtie killer is better known for playing Kramer on Seinfeld. And John Ritter was a great comedic actor in the style of Dick Van Dyke (physical comedy)...his 1989 film Skin Deep is a good watch, if only to see him star in it.
I hate to break it to you, it's not his real voice, or rather, it's his voice but exaggerated for comic effect. There's a whole documentary on him where you hear plenty of him speaking in a more natural voice and while you can see where the more famous version of his voice comes from, it's very clear that it's a character.
Fun fact (or not) but the mom and dad were a married in real life. Also, yes, it does take a long time to adopt, my wife and I are just ending our second year of the process and are still at least 6 months away from being done.
Gilbert Gottfried never really had a “starring role” in a movie. He was almost always a minor side character. Probably his biggest movie role was as the voice of Iago in Aladdin. Problem Child is probably what you might call an “acquired taste”. You really need to enjoy mean spirited humour to really enjoy it. A couple of other movies that featured Gilbert Gottfried are “The Adventures of Ford Fairlane, Rock & Roll Detective” where he played an obnoxious radio DJ, and “Beverly Hills Cop II” where he played an accountant. Between the two, Beverly Hills Cop 2 might be more up your alley. Andrew “Dice” Clay’s particular brand of humour is also an acquired taste that isn’t for everyone.
The only other non-avian Gottfried role that sprang to mind was as an over-the-top white-Jewish stereotype business exec that hip black Eddie Murphy gets to insult/outwit in "Beverly Hills Cop II", and....no. As for Problem Child, I remember the cat in the drier actually started the craze that every 90's comedy HAD to have one obligatory animal in plaster-cast traction. Somewhere on the poster, there'd be that wounded pug dog or chihuahua.
He was a successful comedian...got lots of voice work and bit parts in movies...he's funny in small spurts...but too much of him would not be popular. lol
The best thing about Gotfried is that he was FOUL on the mic and loved pushing buttons (was the first person to make a 9/11 joke and did it a week after too) but take him off the mic and just be a regular person, he was a quiet spoken kind man who loved his family.
John Ritter was married to the actress Amy Yasbeck who played his wife in real life. The actor who played the killer is best known for playing Kramer on Seinfeld.
Gilbert used to be in the cast of Saturday Night Live when he was younger, and he had a very different way of speaking. So yes, the voice he would later adopt and became famous for was in fact a schtick. That was not his normal voice. But I can't believe you, lover of all things Mel Brooks (hey, me too) didn't recognize Amy Yasbeck from Robin Hood: Men in Tights and Dracula: Dead and Loving It as Flo Healey, the social climbing adopted mom of Junior. She's amazing.
@Brad1980 It's more than I ever managed, so good for him! fake edit: Oh, it was season 6, poor fella, 12 episodes of a 13 episode season that nearly killed the show, erk!
@@adgato75 yeah, I remember all his friends and his wife talking about him on tv after his death and it made me cry even more. He was like a father figure to me. Did you watch 8 Simple Rules? The episodes where they are coping with his character’s death were so sad, too.
John Ritter was a genuine movie star as well as being a TV star. Noises Off, Sling Blade, The All Laughed which also starred Dorothy Stratten before she was murdered are all good movies.
The woman in this film that played the wife is named Amy Yasbeck (“Robin Hood: Men in Tights”, “Dracula: Dead and Loving It”, etc.) & she plays in the second movie as the Father’s new love interest. In real life, Amy Yasbeck married John Ritter years after they did these movies & were only married for a couple of years before he fell into a coma after what was believed to be a heart attack & then passed away from an Aortic dissection. Ever since then, she has been fighting the good fight trying to make people aware of taking care of their heart since that’s how she lost her soulmate & she didn’t want anyone else to lose their loved ones. Just thought you should know that because a lot of people (myself included for the longest time) wondered what happened to her because she was so talented & beautiful. That’s what she’s doing: protecting our hearts 🥺💖
I don't know about everyone else, but I love this movie and its sequel. It's just silly fun, and, well, anyone who knows me, knows I love campy movies like this.
I was never able to enjoy movies that had one character that annoyed everyone else. I never like What about Bob for the same reason. I always just want the person being obnoxious to get their comeuppance.
Yeah, as movies go it's awful...bad acting, bad script, low budget, stupid plot. But after accepting all of that, I can just watch it and have fun with it. lol
I love these movies too, but you have to admit that kid's acting was God awful. PC2 he's a little better but they drag it even farther down with the girl character.
On Friday, I was hoping Ashleigh was going to announce BHC2 for Monday when she mentioned watching something in honour of Gilbert Gottfried, not this shit! Then of course I figured it was unlikely as she a) hasn't reviewed BHC1, and b) doesn't generally "do" sequels. Shame because I think she'd really enjoy them both!
Gilbert was in Beverly Hills Cop II and absolutely steals the scene from Eddie Murphy - not an easy trick. Never liked Problem Child and it became a joke with Gilbert - one of the low points of his career
The bowtie killer was played by Michael Richards, best known for playing Kramer on Seinfeld. Best tv character EVER........... Kramer and George Costanza both #1
John Ritter (the Dad) was just AMAZING. Three's Company was a great comedy show in the 70s and early 80s. His wife is the mom in this movie and she's the Maid Marion in Robin Hood: Men in Tights! The other guy, janitor from UHF? That's Kramer from Seinfield!
Gilbert also showed up in the sequel: ruclips.net/video/R-SxktKa7Fc/видео.html The Bow Tie Killer was Michael Richards; in addition to this and UHF, he also appeared in Seinfeld as Kramer and in 2006 had a rather notorious incident performing standup: ruclips.net/video/r05XDOFUsQw/видео.html
Thank you for keeping it real Ashleigh. I know there are people out there who like this movie, but i've always found it pretty painful to watch, and have never gotten past 2-3 minutes. Kudos to you for powering through the entire 80 minutes.

In the 90's "A Problem Child" was HUGE!!!!! 2 sequels!!! I never got it either. Most of these actors were better tv stars. John Ritter is legendary! The Bow-tie Killer is most famous for being one of the stars of Seinfeld. IRL, Amy Yasbeck and John Ritter fell in love and got married. The kid is only known for these movies and never worked much later.
Thhiiiiiiiiissss is what a 'Millennial Movie' is to me! Movies that we watched as itty bitty kiddos and have blurry but fond memories of. Hoping for Son in Law, Biodome, My Boyfriends Back... oh man, bring me late 80s/ early 90s teen comedies.
It's funny, because when you said you wanted to watch a movie in honor of Gilbert Gottfried, this and Adladdin were really the only two movies that came to mind. He was more of a character actor that might randomly pop in something. He did a lot of stand-up. And yes, that was apparently a character voice he did, but he did it for virtually everything; to the extent that the average person who only knew his work would not recognize his normal voice. I've heard him do private interviews and it's very surreal. As far as the movie goes - I _might_ make the argument that it's one of those types of movies that is so bad it's _almost_ good; like in a cheesy, B-movie sort of way. I remember watching this a lot as a kid in the early 90s and I think it was because it was just so stupid. Problem Child 2 is worse, and yet.... I think there's probably something being a kid in the 90s, we liked some of the dumbest stuff. But I definitely haven't seen this movie in a very long time.
Hey, my beloved Ashleigh! Had never watched this movie entirely, though i love John Ritter! Didn't know Gilbert Gottfried was in this, until watching your viewing of it! Think i saw someone mention him on Hollywood Squares, which was a really enjoyable show to me. I'd always enjoyed Mr. Gottfried on everything i saw him in! Mayby, aside from him on Hollywood Squares, one of my favorite scenes of his, was in Beverly Hills Cop 2!! He had a scene with the great Eddie Murphy & may have stolen their scene, entirely, had it not been for some subtle funny choices made by Mr. Murphy. really enjoy watching movies with you, Ashleigh! i'm really a fan of that & of you, as a person! May your BIGGEST and MOST FAITHFUL Fan, bless you, far beyond how you've blessed us!
The escape plan was straight out of one of the Pink Panther movies (Peter Sellers). And if memory serves Sellers also used the idea in one of his earlier, black and white, British comedies, he made in the 50's. As George Harrison (Beatles) once said "If a song sells once, twice, sell it again". Same goes for good for movie plots and/or gags.
RIP Gilbert Gottfried, underrated in all he did, from this movie, to Aladdin, to his time on Hollywood Squares... even his appearance on an AVGN video playing as Fred Fuchs. i'll miss that guy.
His defining filmed moment is his take on "The Aristocrats" in the film of the same name. I mean, it's unRUclipsable, unless the entire review is one long bleep, but in that he is Legendary.
Ashleigh I LOVE the way you laugh and react! One of my old friends lives in Marysville and we had such a great time touring the Smokies when I last visited her over 10 years ago. You have the same way about you and it makes me so happy! She made me sweet tea all the time. I love many reactors on RUclips, but I especially love that you watch so many of my fave older movies! I love this movie! Love it! Maybe it has something to do with me being a little kid when I first watched it and the nostalgia is attached to it. However, I can understand why some people don’t like it. Nothing but love and respect for you Ashleigh!
John Ritter was such a funny actor who died too soon. He was also Jack Tripper on the sitcom Three’s Company. Gilbert Gottfried was also in the film Beverly Hills Cop 2. Gilbert was so great and had such a unique voice. RIP.
LOL I still remember watching this on TV for the first time and was like "OMG! This is hilarious xD" the "it's my party" scene had me rolling on the floor. The sequel was a LOT more crass but still quite funny. And you just gotta appreciate John Ritter being absolutely amazing.
Gilbert Gottfried reprised his role and voiced his Igor Peabody character for two seasons on the Problem Child animated series. I believe he was the main antagonist in the show
His voice was his on-air voice. To hear his real voice look up "Gilbert Gottfried's Real Voice" on RUclips. It's a recording of a voicemail he left Gary Shandling. It's so totally different it's mind-blowing.
Great reaction ❤️ in my opinion the kid act was good cause you can tell the difference when he manipulate people and when he shows real emotions it’s really nice for his age to understand the role like it supposed to be
"That's not how this works." Yes, it absolutely is. Just like poor management at work. The shit rises to the top. Kids don't have stores of knowledge or patience. It is the failure of the parents or adults in a child's life when a child is "troublesome."
Amy Yasbeth was in Robin hood men in tights and Dracula Dead and loving it. I know you just didn't recognize her as this awful character, but she was just as funny as John Ritter
You never need to apologise for sharing an honest opinion. You tried it, found it wasn't for you, and were honest about it. That's all we can ask. As long as we enjoy your honest reactions and your fun laughs, we'll be around.
I know you watched this b/c of Gilbert Gottfried, but a couple of interesting things about John Ritter in this film. The defect you noticed in his eye at 16:33 is called a coloboma. It is a hole in one of the structures of the eye, such as the iris, retina, choroid, or optic disc. The classical description in medical literature is of a keyhole-shaped defect. He met Amy Yasbeck (you may remember her as Marian in Robin Hood: Men In Tights) for a script reading of Problem Child in 1989 at the director's house. John made Amy eat a bagel with cream cheese because he "thought she was too thin". (He also thought she was too young to play his wife!) The two did play as husband and wife in this movie - obviously (and in the second Problem Child, Yasbeck returns as a different character). They did later marry in real life. They had one child, Stella, before John passed in 2003.
this movie is how john ritter met his future wife amy yasbeck. surprised you didn't recognize her from "robin hood: men in tights" and "dracula: dead and loving it".
Junior can be a first name but only person I have heard with that name would be Junior Seau who played for the SD Chargers in the early 2000s. As far as 'fuzzball' for a cats name, just got adopted by a former neighbors cat with the same exact name and now I know where she got that name from!
Thanks for the reaction! I know that you weren't feeling this one Part 2 is actually my favorite out of these and much better than the first one! GG is in that one as well. Fun fact: Mccaulay Culkin auditioned for the Junior role.
The bowtie killer actor was on Seinfeld. The other dead actor from this movie was John Ritter, Tex Ritter's kid, best known for playing Jack Tripper on Three's Company. There's an old clip of Gottfried on Conan u could watch here on youtube: ruclips.net/video/1zeFD53T8Wc/видео.html, it really showcases his brand of comedy. And yes, that is the character voice he always uses. His real voice is WAY different. Also, unlike others have stated, I think you'd like 'The Adventures of Ford Fairlane, Rock & Roll Detective' with Andy Dice Clay more than the other things Gottfried's been in, given your humor. That's my opinion anyway.
Ashleigh touting the virtues of not breeding and using the term "childfree" has made my day, week, month, year! THANK YOU FROM THE CHILDFREE COMMUNITY!
Some of GG's best performances: Him telling the Aristocrats joke at the celebrity roast of Hugh Hefner. Also, there's a video of him in a sound booth reading passages of "Fifty Shades of Gray."
I can only imagine what watching this fresh as an adult would be like when I grew up on it and I can’t stand it as an adult. lol Beverly Hills Cop II might make a better tribute in the future. Gilbert is only in one scene but it’s pretty long, he’s great in it, and the movie is a much much better one in general.
The gas station where Bow Tie hides from the cops, the sports store and the building where Jr takes off in the car, were all filmed in my hometown of Mesquite, TX. My dad and I were eating Churches Chicken across the street, watching John Ritter film the car scene.
Honestly, most of Gilbert Gottfried’s best roles were bit parts in a handful of movies between 1988 and 1992. I personally liked the Problem Child movies because I was 10-11 years old at the time and the humor definitely played to the younger cohort of Gen X, they are both extremely anti-PC. Actually my favorite Gottfried part is his one scene in The Adventure of Ford Fairlane, which is another ridiculously offensive comedy with some action flick elements starring the king of offensive jokes himself, Andrew Dice Clay.
A good review. This was one of those low budget money grabs. It's no doubt a kid's movie which I've noticed you typically hate.(The child inside you is long dead. Only such a person wouldn't love the movie "E.T.") Of coarse I must join in on the hate with this one--it's atrociously bad. They chose actors who would work for peanuts. While the adult actors were pretty good, they can't breathe life into a dead horse script with no money and terrible lead kid actor. I applaud your attempt at honoring the great Gilbert Gottfried. Gottfried was an extremely funny and likeable comic and character actor. He seemed to always outshine other comics in a group. He will be sorely missed. I will leave you with 3 film suggestions. #1 Hook #2 Detroit Rock City #3 Caddyshack 2
I don't think she hates kids' movies inherently. ET was not a great movie. Even as a kid, I never liked it. This one is just objectively terrible. When she watches a good kids' movie, I'm sure she enjoys it.
As mentioned in previous comments, Gilbert really only played secondary or background characters. I loved him as Iago. He was also in the second Look Who's Talking movie starring John Travolta and Kirstie Alley (one of my all time favorite series growing up). Whenever I'm having a bad day I always put on the YOU FOOL! episode of Hollywood Squares. Gilbert and all the other celebrities are having a freaking blast! And the fact that most of them can't stop laughing just makes me laugh even harder.
He made movies, he did not make GOOD movies. Aladdin was a stroke of luck for him, and perfect for his voice. But yes, he excelled at other things besides film.
This movie really makes me miss John Ritter. Absolutely love every performance he done.

and Gilbert screams , C U N T ! 😂
@Necramonium - I am aware of that.
He was the best part of part 3
Yes I agree 👍💯
I am one of the few who love this and the second movie. The boy's bad acting actually works for the comedy. It is true he is mean to everyone, but half the time they deserve the treatment. Too many who watch these don't seem to understand the underlying themes of hypocrisy, loneliness, acceptance, misplaced idolization, and more. Besides, based on her reactions she liked it more than she wanted to admit.
I love both movies!!
I loved both movies simply because the kid was such a brat.
I used to love these movies as a kid. I'm not sure if I would like them without the nostalgia
I liked both when I was little
RIP, Gilbert Gottfried AND John Ritter. We miss you.
‘You said you loved me, you called me your little kumquat!’ 🤣🤣🤣
Learning that "Spinal Tap" is in the queue makes the trauma of "Problem Child" seem less painful!
She can now watch Problem child 2 and 3 :-)
Think that CSI episode he was in is one with most screen time Gilbert Gottfried had
2016 The Comedian would have been better , just for the cast in that movie , Gilbert plays him self .
@@pete_lind There's a *Problem Child* 2 AND 3?!? WTF?
Say it ain't so!
@@jamesnoneyabizness5611 Yep. Part 2 was released in theater, but part 3 was straight to video.
I only said a couple vids ago that if she like Mockumentaries, then This is Spinal Tap was made for her. Can't wait!
@@jamesnoneyabizness5611 Ha! I knew there was a second but had the same reaction just now reading there was a third...and I was in 8 or 9th grade when the first one came out, lol!
Let's be honest though... They're all #2 ;D
I don't think anyone has ever seen Michael Richards and thought "Hey, isn't that the guy from UHF?".
Back when "Fifty Shades of Gray" was the big thing, someone did an ad for the audiobook "read by one of the most recognizable voices of our time" -- Gilbert Gottfried. It's on RUclips, search for it.
I must find that NOW 😳
College Humor did it up, yeah. Hearing him read passages from it was just...oof. Dead. XD
OMG...are you serious? That had to be insanely hilarious!
I HAVE to listen to this!!!!
Its hilarious😂😂
Suggestion: You should watch "Dirty Work", which is a movie with a lot of problems script-wise but it has a dozen classic comedy bits...AND it stars Norm Macdonald who suddenly died of cancer late 2021 after an almost decade-long fight that he told NO ONE about. It was also directed by his friend Bob Saget, who ALSO suddenly died a few months ago, and it features the late Don Rickles (a comedy genious that you probably only know as the voice of Mr. Potato Head) and the late Chris Farley.
I second this.
My fav quote is "Look at cha. You baby gorilla. Why don't you go get a job at the zoo and stop bothering people."
I should add...it has WAY more laughs than Problem Child.
Seconded. Doom Rickles roasting Artie Lange is great.
Speaking of Norm MacDonald movies, there's "Screwed", which also has Dave Chappelle, Danny DeVito, Elaine Stritch & Sherman Hemsley.
@@Dave2one6 "The disrespect hurts the second most!"
When you announced that you were going to be reacting to this movie, I said to myself, "I'd be very surprised if Ashleigh likes this one."
I'm not surprised that you didn't surprise me.
I now want her to watch The Toy for her sheer shock at the premise, but I don't want to be the one to put it on her radar.
@@angrytheclown801 Two of my childhood faves: Jackie Gleason and Richard Pryor.
Yeah it's not his real voice. When he passed someone who interviewed him before said he actually has a lower quiet voice.
Fun fact (or not) but the mom and dad were a married in real life. Also, yes, it does take a long time to adopt, my wife and I are just ending our second year of the process and are still at least 6 months away from being done.
Holy cow! Thats crazy, didn't know the time required for it, good luck to yall!
Yeah, good luck, make sure the kid doesn't regularly cosplay as a serial killer.
Best of luck to you. ❤
I remember LOVING this movie as a kid. I saw it so much. I hadn't watched it since I was a kid. Also, I think the sequel was WAY better.
He was a successful comedian...got lots of voice work and bit parts in movies...he's funny in small spurts...but too much of him would not be popular. lol
The actor that plays the bow tie killer is Michael Richards the same that played Kramer on the sidcom Seinfeld
The best thing about Gotfried is that he was FOUL on the mic and loved pushing buttons (was the first person to make a 9/11 joke and did it a week after too) but take him off the mic and just be a regular person, he was a quiet spoken kind man who loved his family.
Also the Japanese tsunami
She also married John Ritter.
@Brad1980 He didn't last long as a writer, though, once SNL got a taste of his...favorite comic subject.
She’s in the 2nd film as well, & in The Mask with Jim Carey. Love her ❤️
"I would watch ET before I watch this movie again" made me laugh so much
John Ritter (the dad) was one of the greats. I grew up watching him in Three’s Company, too. His death hit me so hard. 😔
She should add the Ritter/Belushi movie "Real Men".
He always seemed like a really nice guy.
I never heard anything about him but nice things.
@@brittyn I didn't , but I saw Kaley Cuoco talking about him afterwards and she seemed genuinely moved , and upset. And spoke very highly of him.
But after accepting all of that, I can just watch it and have fun with it. lol
@@abrahamlincoln6744 I hear you only watch things on home video, since your last "bad" experience at the theater....

I love these movies too, but you have to admit that kid's acting was God awful. PC2 he's a little better but they drag it even farther down with the girl character.
@@IggyStardust1967 Dayum!
This movie was my childhood. My family loved this movie & part 2
Gilbert has a great scene in Beverly Hills Cop 2. He's literally only in it for 1 scene but it's pretty funny.
Yes that was the Janitor in UHF. Also Kramer in Seinfeld.
Kramer and George Costanza both #1
number 2 was one of my favourite movies as a kid growing up.
That was a voice Gilbert used all the time. Like Bobcat Goldthwait, it became their trademark.
This is very wonderful of you to do. Gilbert was one of my favorite comedians. Don't judge him by this movie.
This movie is my childhood, you have no idea how happy I am that you've reacted to it! 💕

The Bow Tie Killer was Michael Richards; in addition to this and UHF, he also appeared in Seinfeld as Kramer and in 2006 had a rather notorious incident performing standup: ruclips.net/video/r05XDOFUsQw/видео.html
John Ritter was a national treasure. You should watch Real Men or Stay Tuned. Both highly underrated films.
"Real Men" is a tremendous film.

Interesting (at least to me) little fact: The couple in the film - John Ritter and Amy Yasbeck - were actually husband and wife in real life.

Oh Lord, Biodome! Ashleigh's never seen a Pauley Shore movie. I think she'd enjoy Encino Man more though.
Yes! She HAS to watch Son In Law during Thanksgiving time! My favorite Thanksgiving movie!
He also played Kramer on the sitcom Seinfeld
To answer your question about the "migrating" pupil, John Ritter had a birth defect known as a coloboma in his right eye.
R.I.P. JOHN RITTER AND GILBERT GOTTFRIED
RIP.
I remember going to see this as a kid at a drive-in theater. I liked it, but I was also 10 at the time. I think I've changed my mind since then 🤣
This got a thumbs up because its you Ashley because it's you and I love your reviews 😀
LOL I still remember watching this on TV for the first time and was like "OMG! This is hilarious xD" the "it's my party" scene had me rolling on the floor. The sequel was a LOT more crass but still quite funny. And you just gotta appreciate John Ritter being absolutely amazing.
He was also Krammer on Seinfeld
Gilbert Gottfried reprised his role and voiced his Igor Peabody character for two seasons on the Problem Child animated series. I believe he was the main antagonist in the show
Added to the list of things I never knew. There was a Problem Child cartoon & it ran for 2 seasons.
Yes he did
His voice was his on-air voice. To hear his real voice look up "Gilbert Gottfried's Real Voice" on RUclips. It's a recording of a voicemail he left Gary Shandling. It's so totally different it's mind-blowing.
jesus. some things you hear you cannot unhear...
I always preferred Problem Child 2 over the first movie. Highly recommend!
Same. That puke scene is great
Seeing as Ashleigh will probably never watch the sequel, I must add the dog becoming a statue had me literally rolling out of my seat everytime.

Great reaction ❤️ in my opinion the kid act was good cause you can tell the difference when he manipulate people and when he shows real emotions it’s really nice for his age to understand the role like it supposed to be
I loved this movie as a kid of the 90s. I still watch it now, but only for the nostalgia. It hasn't aged well lol
lol..shows what low standards kids have.
My rememberance of Gilbert Gottfried is from the Hugh Hefner roast when he did the Aristocrats joke. Worth watching.
16:31 - Yes, he had iris coloboma. It's often a sign of heart disease, which he also had and eventually died from.
I can't believe I never noticed that before. I just looked up pictures of him, and yep, it's been like that the whole time.
8:13 you can hear beans purring. Love it
"That's not how this works." Yes, it absolutely is. Just like poor management at work. The shit rises to the top. Kids don't have stores of knowledge or patience. It is the failure of the parents or adults in a child's life when a child is "troublesome."
Yeah, but they just got that kid. It was some grown-up's fault, but it wasn't theirs.
He had a GREAT cameo in Beverly Hills Cop II - I expect you’ll get there eventually.
Same here
Amy Yasbeth was in Robin hood men in tights and Dracula Dead and loving it. I know you just didn't recognize her as this awful character, but she was just as funny as John Ritter
I was going to post a similar comment.
True. She gave me a Peggy Bundy vibe in this movie though.
You never need to apologise for sharing an honest opinion. You tried it, found it wasn't for you, and were honest about it. That's all we can ask. As long as we enjoy your honest reactions and your fun laughs, we'll be around.
You should definitely watch Dennis the Menace from 1993. It's much more fun, adorable, and heart-warming.
Yeeesss!
She was also in the first "Mask" movie and was a regular on the sitcom "Wings".
Thank you for watching this POS for us, you made it 100 X better
I'm not sure but I think the 2nd problem child is a little better.
I thought it was too. Plus Gilbert Gottfried was in it more than this one
'a litt!e better' is not selling it to me.
Probably would have been a lot better with Mccaulay Culkin.
I remember renting this as a kid... That's pretty much it.
I did just get super nostalgic for that video store tho.

All great suggestions.
Need some commitment to MCU as well.
Some of GG's best performances: Him telling the Aristocrats joke at the celebrity roast of Hugh Hefner. Also, there's a video of him in a sound booth reading passages of "Fifty Shades of Gray."
I can only imagine what watching this fresh as an adult would be like when I grew up on it and I can’t stand it as an adult. lol
Beverly Hills Cop II might make a better tribute in the future.
John Ritter was such a great actor. Please watch him in Stay Tuned for a fever dream of a movie mixed with a little acid trip.
This is one of those movies you watched on cable, years after release, on a rainy day when you can't find the remote.
I have never thought of this as an older classic movie.
I loved this movie as a kid, but I imagine as an adult finding it to be awfully annoying. We'll see. I liked the sequel too.
Well that will make my husband who's favorite movie is Spinal Tap happy. He also watches your channel.
#1 Hook #2 Detroit Rock City
#3 Caddyshack 2

As mentioned in previous comments, Gilbert really only played secondary or background characters.
I loved him as Iago. He was also in the second Look Who's Talking movie starring John Travolta and Kirstie Alley (one of my all time favorite series growing up).
Whenever I'm having a bad day I always put on the YOU FOOL! episode of Hollywood Squares. Gilbert and all the other celebrities are having a freaking blast! And the fact that most of them can't stop laughing just makes me laugh even harder.
Best description I ever heard for Gilbert Gottfried's style is "There's an old saying that comedy equals tragedy plus time. Gilbert said, 'why wait?'"
As soon as I heard you were watching this for Gilbert Gottfried, I knew your Patreons had done you dirty.
He made movies, he did not make GOOD movies. Aladdin was a stroke of luck for him, and perfect for his voice. But yes, he excelled at other things besides film.
One of my favorites as a kid! RIP Gilbert and John Ritter.
