  • The City of Adelaide was built in Sunderland, UK, in 1864 to carry passengers to Adelaide. In 1893 it stopped sailing and became a hospital ship in Southampton after having its masts and fittings removed. The Royal Navy purchased the ship in 1923, renamed it HMS Carrick, and moved it to Scotland. A volunteer group in Adelaide was formed in 2000 to save the ship which was facing being broken up. The group succeeded in moving the vessel in 2013. Since getting it to Adelaide in 2014 the vessel has been progressively restored, and is open for tours daily. Peter Christopher, who convened the volunteer group in 2000, provides a commentary on this tour.
