Not to mention that Jade still took everything the man offered for his life to be saved and STILL didn’t save him. Also, it wouldn’t surprise me if it was the IPC(Strategic investment department specifically) themselves who were putting that planet in danger in the first place, as they have been known to do this before multiple times, As it’s a “Strategic” type of investment for the IPC like what they did to Topaz and Aventurine’s (And so many other people’s) planets, all in the name of the amber lord (and profit). And jade clearly knows all of this.
That's like this I imagine Pantalone, "evil" version of Zhongli who talk like her about contracts and all because of his trauma ( do we know anything about her to be sure she is evil or semi-evil ? ).
@@usmanya5110 ratio is an asshole to talk to but his morals are actually quite solid. He cares about people and humanity and wishes them well - he's just very rude when speaking to him (a contrast to characters like jade who are morally grey or even corrupt but speak very politely)
I like how jade is an evil character by all extents, except when it comes to Topaz & Aventurine. It helps to add more facets to what could be a one sided character. The way she treats/views younger kids also helps to offset the villainous side of her.
She feels more on the insightful and intellectual side than we've seen on the trailers tbh. She gave more dommy mommy I'll charm the sht out of them with my cunning on those.
I can see how shes a bad person but theres good intentions in the things she does as well. She gives money to those who need it and of course are willing to give something up for a head start. When they do get what they want she proposes a even better deal in hopes they can push beyond that and achieve something even better. She herself isn't being greedy if anything shes lunishing those who push their luck and try to get more than they are able. If you waste the money she gives you then you also waste the money she could have given to somebody else so they can pursue happiness. Of course her ways are pretty bad but its all in the hands of the one accepting the deal she merely proposes the offer. As for the planet thing theres only so much she alone can do im sure she wanted to save the planet as she sounded sad that only a single jade was left but she had her hands tied. Nessecary evils are what ive learned the IPC characters tend to be. Topaz is easily the nicest one though because as jade said topaz leaves you alone once buisness is done she doesnt try and grab for more.

I already don't like her, but i usually give characters the time to appear on screen... this time, im pretty sure it will only worsen. Which is good, cuz only having loveable characters can be repetitive and also i dont have to worry about pulling for her
I agree except your last statement since I actually WANT Hoyo to make playable characters villains. Imo HSR would be quite dull if its characters were an unending series of “good or sympathetic characters”. I want full-on villains and Sparkle and Jade imo are the closest to being just that.

Jade is older then then and she did kind of know Aventurine and Topaz when they were teenagers so she probably sees herself having a role in how successful they are today,like how a mentor would feel proud seeing people they taught reach great heights and look back on it.
i think we’ll have to wait and see if she is truly full evil but she definitely leans on the villain side of things if that makes sense, especially with her symbolism and her whole deal with contracts, moneylending and being in the ipc. also, “as a slave, you should obey your master.. but you went and killed that man anyway” is a pretty devious thing to say lmao the thing about her contracts is that they’re pretty much a deal with the devil type of thing after all. if you remember the npcs in 2.3 , she explains how even though they got what they wanted for a fair exchange they’ll soon have to deal with a bigger price to pay and “fall into the abyss”. she definitely has the setup for a good evil character that’s for sure, hopefully she gets some more nuance though

I feel like there will be another stone heart or two who will turn on the IPC completely. Some agents are forced into the IPC, like Topaz. She genuinely wanted to help, but she can’t due to orders, nor can she quit. So I’m imagining a few people helping the express, either for their own benefits or a more righteous cause.
