I seriously love your art. I’m a new artist, going on three years now and of course I haven’t found my style. I’m still in the beginning development stages of knowing who I am as an artist. Listening to you about the different stages art naturally goes through and changing things up don’t get comfortable in the same way you paint every time. That’s what I’m looking for in my learning process. I’ve put several hours a day into my art and I’ve learned a lot in a short time, I’m addicted to it. I go to bed with ideas and wake up with new ideas. I’m sure my husband thinks I’ve gone mad🤣 but he love seeing what thing come out of my art studio. Your advice is powerful to me, thank you so much!
Thank you for the kind words, Sheila, and I totally relate! I’ve been painting a lot of years and sometimes still feel like I’m just now beginning to find my voice, but when I look back, I can see a thread (or several) that ran through it from the beginning. It is endlessly fascinating and also so instructive in learning about who we are and how we think. I’m addicted too! Thanks for watching 😉
I really like your explanation of how and why you do things and that anything goes and nothing is wrong. You send a very positive message. I turned your painting around with the dark at the bottom as I preferred it that way. You are lovely to listen to, thank you! 😊
Very interesting use of collage. I don't know why I never thought of layering collage paper. The result is beautiful. Thank you for sharing your process. It stimulates a whole bunch of new ideas.
Your work is stunning Marabeth and this one is no exception. The shift in color palette is subtle yet compelling. Thank you for sharing your exploration and your process.
Your work is very inspiring to me. I recently won a Merit Award in a show, I added a small amount of collage on that painting. Watching you helps me to feel confident to add more. You have a wonderful sense of color, and I love color.
Hi Kris and Congratulations! That’s fantastic. I’m happy you’re going to try adding even more collage-that’s how I got hooked :). Thanks so much for the kind words and for watching!
So glad you liked the video! And I’ve found over the years that working on my thinking was crucial if I wanted to keep developing my work. It didn’t happen naturally, for sure 😉 Lots of practice!
Thank you so much, Sandra. 🥰 and thanks for watching--I appreciate it!

Hi! I had comments before about "abstracts", and, I still look at your works, and learn! What I noticed, is that, THE PROCESS is the best there is on Mixed Media, not the outcome! I think, I should really start finding my realms! I love your artworks, tho'!
I have done the same with cutting collage shapes from painted papers and now going to reverse it and cut shapes from collages for my paintings. Thanks for a new perspective.
Great idea! I love how the new ideas just keep coming when I watch other artists work-it always opens up your mind to doing something differently. Thanks for watching!
I do! The link is below, but I’ll have a class coming out in a few months that will go through the whole process, so keep an eye out if you’re interested. ruclips.net/video/O0G51FWIsCo/видео.html
I noticed that Golden glazing medium on Amazon is cheaper in gloss finish than satin finish. Do you ever use the gloss? Couldn't the finished piece have a toned down sheen satin varnish? I love your teaching style and finished work.
Hi Deb! I don’t use gloss simply because I’m only applying it in certain areas and also because I don’t prefer the sheen, but you may be right that you could correct all that by using a satin varnish. It seems logical although I’ve never tried that personally so I can’t say for sure. Let me know if you do, I’d like to know!
I am just starting to watch your videos and am so pleased I found you. Can I ask a question? When you are putting all of the underlayer papers on in what to me seems a bit hectic do you have a vision of what that piece wants to be as in some flowers or a landscape etc ?
I usually know if I’m wanting to make a landscape or a botanical, but not always. But I hardly ever have a vision beyond that-for instance, if I know I want to make a botanical, I just add a lot of things a the first and allow it to develop into something that then I refine instead of directing it from the start. Hope that makes sense. 😉
were u ever once wed to a narcissist? its just your voice ,as if you had a lot of trauma [prior] and your art has set you free so to speak, youre singing[artwise] like a newly released bird. Hope i havnt offended you its just an observation!
Well, sorry to disappoint but no, I wasn’t we’d to a narcissist. But I have had to learn how to be kind and speak more kindly to myself so maybe that’s what you’re picking up on? 😊

Do you have a video about how to make those beautiful papers?
I do! The link is below, but I’ll have a class coming out in a few months that will go through the whole process, so keep an eye out if you’re interested.

My pleasure 😊
Do you ever make a collage on mixed media paper then mount it onto a wood panel?
yes I have done that a number of times-I like it
I love your work, but I have a question, have u ever incorporated an animal or a person into your paintings?
Thank you! And I have incorporated some birds here and there.
