I commend you in continuing reviewing audio products that are off the beaten path. Even though many of these products are not for me they are definitely interesting especially the design that minimizes cable differences in sound.
Think of a DAC volume control as a clutch it takes away power and lowers dynamics by lowering voltage. A preamp has a buffer that takes the full bandwidth and amplifies it and adds a small turbo charger to it to get it to drive speaker amps. No dac "volume control" really has mastered this over using a preamp with a buffer and lies about being more "pure" despite what MSB, Lampizator and Playback Designs lies to people about. Some of the best Preamps I have heard are $35,000 Audionet Stern, $3300 Holo Serene, $40,000 Pilium Alexander. I am dying to hear the DartZeal NHB-18NS Preamp that basically has a power supply run on batteries and ironically their slogan is "Passion for Sound!
My kind of pre amp for my particular setup. Great review. Burning question though: how on earth did you plug your headphones in to the pre amp?? No mention of headphone cable nor details of connection to the back of the preamp.
The Northern Hemisphere is already very well represented so providing a platform for lesser known Aussie brands like OAD, Audiofly (when they existed) and Gieseler is important to me. 🙂
Not related to audio but please learn to pronounce Padma first. It’s an Indian( Hindu) mythological female God’s name meant to be pronounced as Pud-muh or Pud-ma. The A needs to be rounded. Just a cultural thing.

Glad it was interesting! I try to mix up the things everyone asks for along with things that people might not know that might want 🙂

Sounds like DartZeal and I should get together for a chat about sponsorship! 😉
"No dac "volume control" really has mastered this......"
You got that right! 🔈🔉🔊
Thanks Much!
Would be interesting to compare this to a Holo serene
Yes, that would be a good one.
Sweet, always love hearing about products I've yet to hear about.
Glad I could share something new!

I used a custom made dual 3-pin XLR to 4-pin XLR cable for the testing to drive the headphones straight from the main XLR outputs of the preamp
damn i was just researching pre-amps in other tabs and saw notification for this, love the timing!
That worked out well then, didn't it?
looks pretty darn nice...................... 🔈🔉🔊
It's brilliant!
And if you ever get another preamp, this one doubles as a coffee table.
Haha. So true!
As an American, I bias towards USA products and I think it’s great that Lachlan is giving his review time to an Australian producer.
did you miss his Burson reviews?

Isn't that a Star Wars character?
No. It’s a Hindu female God
You're thinking of Padme, DZ
@@PassionforSound yes that's it. May the force be with you.
First
Actually, I think I was the first to see it... over and over again while I edited it 😁
😂

Thanks for the tip. I didn't realise where the origins of the word lay.
