It's important to buy things new when something comes out that you like. Some people wait until vehicles are a little older to buy one so they can save a little money, but then those same people get mad when they cancel a certain model because of low sales. Manufacturers don't take into account how many used units are being sold. It's like all the car enthusiasts that get mad because manual transmissions are disappearing.... We'll go buy one then. It might be a big investment, but you are doing your part to keep what you like alive.

when a manufacturer releases a product they already have a schedule for how long it will be run.
marketing divides customers into different categories, but for simplicity’s sake let’s call one group “early adopters” and the other one “conservatives”. In the context of motorcycles, the early adopters have a host of reasons for being the first ones to own a new vehicle. Their purchasing philosophy is radically different than that of a more conservative customer that values reliability and convenience over novelty. Buell most likely has a strategy to reach the conservative group over time.

Flat out performance isn't what everyone is after. Some people like the look, the sounds the ergonomics the practicality etc. And not everyone wants the same bike every hockey puck has with white Oakleys and a flat brim monster hat. Beyond that honda, yamaha, kawasaki, suzuki build cars, generators, outboard engines etc. Most of there motorcycle race programs are tax writes offs for the rest of the company. Since then eric has used the rotax engine in his own developments and finally sold the company to the liquidation firm that worked with harley all those years ago. The rotax was originally developed in austria but since then buell engines have been designed and built in the USA. This bike has every bit of performance a liter bike does, apart from the lean angle due to the nature of this bike being a cruiser. That being said i'm sure it will still be fun and flickable with 450lbs, mid controls, and high ride height.

It seems interesting for sure. People love to bitch about Harley prices and practices (while some points I do agreee) but nothing else is quite like a Harley. You can't even get into (NEW) models of Indian for less than 12K MSRP. Even if this bike is good, if its over 20k then only rich or committed fans will be on it. I'm not over here calling the Pan American or The Sportster S (love to have one) Indian killers, people love to hate I guess, but competition is good. Even the 'lesser priced Honda and Yams etc are up in price and have a fraction of support and customization compared to the 2 American MC companies. My biggest gripe is how the CEO of Harley wants to make HD a luxury brand essentially which I disagree with entirely but if we as customers tell them what we want, well, the bottom line will show that, only time can tell but I'm not wishing for Harleys demise when they've done alot and have been making pretty good steps in the past few years to break into the newer scene.
