To add Libraries on KiCad 5.x with MacOS:
1: Have libraries downloaded in a folder for which you know the path.
    2: Open EEschema
3: On top of window go to Preferences -> Manage Symbol Libraries
4: Select the "Add Existing Library to Table" Icon next to the plus sign, under your libraries list.
    5. Highlight each .lib file in your downloaded folder.
    6. Add, check to make sure it has been updated.

*unless you're interested in the directory structure and how it will look under version control without having to infer from whats onscreen as he goes through the workflow

I didn't expect you to be so beautiful. You look like a render. The turtleneck definitely helps.

Hello, Thankyou for your tutorial. Pease can you tell me Is the procedure same for downloading a new footprint symbol and its libraries?

I really appreciate your videos and have purchased KICAD based on how helpful and well you demonstrate the use of KICAD.
I found it really easy to draw the first schematic, however, when I go into PCB mode I have problems with the wire not connecting to the component. So the components cannot be connected. It seems like the wire is sticking to the mouse cursor.
I would really appreciate any advice or even a youtube clip on how to resolve this issue. Again, thank you for your fantastic videos.

Do you have a video on how to add in the 3D models into KiCAD? For example, I really want to have my DIP switches look like actual switches rather than just a generic IC chip :(

How about KiCAD 6.0? Generation of new footprint libraries?

I think you missed the part where you added a _NEW_ footprint library...

How do I add the footprint for boards like the: esp8266 Node MCU and other similar boards? Does KiCad have an online footprint repository? It would also be nice if KiCad could talk with my Arduino IDE app to see what board I'm using. Then auto import footprints..

    Chris,
I need to do schematic and PCB layout of Vacuum Tube circuits. Can you tell me how to obtain library symbols for all the Vacuum Tubes used in the U.S.A. ?
Also, it appears that all the libraries are being "dumped" into my Documents folder. Do they have to be there, is there a reason that I should want to put them there? What about making a special folder called KiCad that you put the libraries in? Would you recommend yeah or nay? Also, what about making that folder under the KiCad main folder for the program? Would there be any reason not to do so?
    Thanks,
    Wayne

Could you explain what means other types of plugins, like Legacy, GitHub Eagle?

How do I add a Transistor footprint into Assigning Footprints? I am trying to add a footprint for a 2SC4130 transistor.

Hi, i’m really trying to understand kicad and its library management! Anyone can answer these questions:
    1. When I create a footprint library in Kicad, where does it save it on computer?
    2. why is it impossible to delete a footprint library if I make a mistake?
    3. Do I have to be in a project to create my own footprints or can I do it outside the project and make it global?
    4. Why is there no “close project” button?
It’s easy to make a schematic and pcb but those libraries are killing me! Someone please help me.
    Thanks.

Well I would like to, but I am completely lost on how to add libraries. I can use the existing ones, but have no idea what all the youtube kicad library videos (including this one) are talking about.

The disadvantage of course that many small files make installing on Windows (much) slower.

You seriously need to slow down, assuming we are supposed to learn from these videos. No libraries were on my Kicad when I downloaded (v5) Struggling now to get Footprints - Can you help?

    You talk to fast.

You talk way too fast and skip over things like "Select this library". No idea where you're doing that and how.
