I have been able to replicate this on my 100lx (thanks by the way that was fun) but I’m curious if you have been able to break out of commands using like ctrl+c (say when pinging something) will only work on the host machine that I’m running agetty from. I’m also very interested in the prospect of a ppp connection through the router. Very cool melding of old and new tech though for sure. I had a Windows CE 1.0 device that I got new back when. I always thought it was really cool until I found out what a regression it was from these DOS machines! My 100lx even runs my old xtgold and DA51 and qbasic!
It appears that current versions of OpenWRT do not allow a Telnet connection as used here (for security reasons, evidently). I am wondering if there is a work-around for this.
I think you can recompile OpenWRT with telnet support. I compiled BSD (perhaps Mac OS X) telnet for OpenWRT...too long ago for me to remember the details.
Hello Abraham, thanks for this video! I was able to reproduce all your steps for file transfer from HP200LX to Ravpower memory, after having set Overlay on that in order to use the full capacity of SD card as root file system. Now my question is: how can I receive a file from Ravpower and copy it in A: on HP200LX? In other words how to do the reverse of what shown in your video? Thanks! Stay safe!
Hey Claudio, I will check, but I think you send with gkermit from the 95LX Kermit console, and then exit the console and run the file receive command on the 95LX. Sorry, it's been too long. Good luck.
Very nice!! What packages do you need in OpenWrt for the usb-to-serial comunication? Is it just an PPP Interface over ttyS0? I need to try it with my router!
Hi Daniel, it's a agetty console over /dev/ttyUSB0. You need kmod-usb-serial plus the kernel modules specific to your USB serial adapter (e.g., CH340, PL2303, FTDI). You could also use tcpser or pppd over serial.
This is awesome, bought a wd03 for myself. Have run into a problem and wondering if you had a similar issue or know a fix? I can send/receive input via serial but cannot get a console/shell up. Using a 100lx, tried datacomm and kermit. Some more details: forum.openwrt.org/t/routerusbtty-no-shell-prompt-able-to-send-recieve-input/73683
Hello, I try the kermit version that you use on my 95LX but after I connect I'm stuck on terminal, the alt+x won't work
I definitely want to follow the streps in your follow-on video . The mini-router looks like a great storage medium .

What are these worth?
I still have a 100LX but no serial cable, do you know the pinout ?

can it run vim?
It sure can! I've run vim 3.0 on my 95LX.
Is this the same process for the 200LX?
Roughly the same, yes!

@@walnuthills11 I will try it in the next days, hardware is available. Thank you!

Congrats! Very cool! I will take a look. Did you try starting up with agetty instead? That works for me.
Got it working using agetty, thank you!!!
@@emokillla1 You are very very welcome! Have fun!!
