Come to ''CRASHVILLE'', Tennessee. They are building their football stadium next to the Cumberland River, just like the first one. See May, 2010 flood.
This is an on the ground impact. The right winglet and the vertical stabilizer (triangular tail fin that points upwards) appear obviously separated from the aircraft. The fuselage including the tail cone (back of the plane) appear intact. They wouldn't taxi because the airframe is damaged and it would be further damaged by motion it would also result in debris on active taxiways. Plus the investigation would require inspection of the accident where it happened. So duh yes they'd take the passengers off there and bus them to the terminal. Likely the regional jet was off to the side and the larger jet hit the right side and tai with it's wing. which is considerably higher than the smaller aircraft. The cockpit height makes it very difficult for the crew in the larger aircraft to see at a low and close angle which is why an ATC ground controller gives directions. However given the size of the airport, the distance from the tower and the change on depth perception from tower height it can be difficult to see everything. Atlanta is extremely busy, there is ground radar, but things happen (rare but they do).
This is unacceptable. These airports have been operating at max capacity for a long time. Close calls happen all the time. This was bound to happen. We need to expand or build new airports.
