i really struggle with enjoying the new and interesting discourse that's on tiktok, while also understanding that im a more well-adjusted person when i don't scroll. but i also started using tiktok in 2019, and i never saw an until maybe last year? once i started getting ads, it killed my tiktok boner and then i felt more irritated and slowed down a lot with it.
somewhat unrelated, i also feel like as my boundaries have gotten better, that in many ways im more quickly dismissive of nonsense (especially from cishet men). ive noticed that it makes my world much smaller, but it also makes it so the community i find that i want to be around is really rich and valuable to me. but the general straight neurotypical public? i just literally cannot with that.
edit: the nuance obviously is that i dont want to be in an echo chamber, but it's more about the level of empathy and comprehension that we're starting from. im not engaging with someone who's never even begun to ask the question "why?"

as a teacher, i reallly appreciated what yall said about teaching! the hardest lesson I learned is that you HAVE to hold kids accountable all the time and you HAVE to be the """"mean"""" teacher because kids expect that from you.

A hack for all of you parents wanting a job, but still wanting to spend a lot of time with your kids. Become a realtor. My mom was one for 10+ years while I was growing up. She worked for an independent agency that didn’t require her to be in office all the time. The only instances of her having to get a baby sitter was when she needed to do an open house (an afternoon at most), or show a house to a client (a couple hours at most). Everything else could be done over the phone or online. Just a thought.

in reference to the Matt and Abby father's day thing.....my dad's birthday is around Father's Day and he has never thrown a fit over it like Matt lmao. I understand wanting to feel celebrated but to make people celebrate Father's Day 2 months after the actual day just because you happen to be born around the holiday is silly. it sounds like his wife tried to make him feel celebrated but he just seems to have unattainable standards. like was she supposed to buy him a birthday island??? strange man child
