I was diagnosed with Retinitis Pigmentosa at just 4 years old and began public speaking at age 5. I started just doing motivational speaking, but now I make videos and even model! I think that Joy did a wonderful job, describing the colors to you Molly, she definitely went into more detail describing the colors than she would have needed to for a sighted person.

    Another thing to consider is that the winter colors are dramatic: winters can wear black and rich jewel tones and contrast. Molly would look AMAZING in these colors on the red carpet or if she wants to look more sophisticated. On the other hand, her personality is bubbly and charming. I think the softer colors she wears always look great on her, and I that they enhance her hair and her personality. I've NEVER thought she looked washed out in pastels or anything of the sort. ❤

    I can totally see why you as a person who suffers from seasonal affective disorder would be not 100% thrilled by being told you’re a “deep dark winter” and why you prefer light pastels. Dark winter is actually a very bright bold palette and I definitely see you shine in bright colours, especially pink! Winters wear pink so well and as an autumn i am slightly jealous of that 😂 but in return I look good in orange! Seasonal colour analysis is absolutely a tool for you to use however you wish, definitely don’t stop wearing what you love Molly because that’s when you look best!

    When you appeared with the cool undertones make-up at the end I immediately thought "It was true! Winter colours make her look elevated!". I think that, when you think about events or special occasions you could lean on towards that winter colours as a guide, it's like you look more mature and refined. But you also look great with everything you usually wear and your make-up it's always spot on!
    And about the hair, I always lean on towards warm colours on you even it's not on your palette colour, I don't know why, but copper/peach pink really suits you ❤

    Please don't get rid of your warm toned makeup! I've always thought your makeup looks so stunning and natural! Also even if your clothes may not match "your winter pallet" your style is always great and you look so good! I'm not sure I entirely agree with her palette suggestion or the feel she got with the colours as she held them against your face, but your makeup and outfit at the end did bring out the hazel in your eyes, which I think stands true for that whole palette but I still think your usual wardrobe and muted pinks and blues are really pretty on you! I think her tendency to lean into sophisticated Molly rather than young and fun Molly is really what drove the palette suggestion

    • @sleepypup
      @sleepypup Год назад +54

      I agree! I will say, she's only going off what looks "traditionally" good. Completely not learning into personality/personal style since she doesn't know Molly in her every day life.
      We definitely have a biased based on her personality!

    • @RiverWoods111
      @RiverWoods111 Год назад +55

      @@sleepypup Actually, it is based on the undertones of the person and not anything to do with personality. Also, there are plenty of cool tone pinks and pastels. Some of the ones that she wears may be already cool toned. They might fall into the summer palette and not the winter palette. My mom was a warm tone person, and she was constantly buying me yellow gold jewelry (expensive jewelry too) all the while as a kid I would beg for silver jewelry that was much less expensive. When I had my colors done as a teenager, I was a summer/winter. I don't think I fell into just one category, and some of the winter colors could be too harsh for my natural fair skin and ash blonde hair. I have honestly never had a problem finding cool toned clothing choices and I feel much better in them. Also, many times when we receive compliments, we think it is because someone is telling us we look great in an outfit, and what they are really saying is that they like the outfit. They are not noticing us. By the way, I wear a ton of cool toned winter colors that are funky and fun to wear. Sophisticated is a term that she just used as a way of describing something that makes Molly look grown up and not childish. My background is in fashion design, and a winter palette is so perfectly suited for funky, artistic, and a lot wild more so than the other palettes. I wear bold funky hair, with bold funky blues and turquoise streaks in it, and funky artistic styles. It is important as a businesswoman to dress in such a way that you look great and professional, but that doesn't mean you need to be funky or bold.

    I have to say, there at the end when she was showing the full palette and did the final drapes, she was spot on. I do agree that a lot of the pastels aren't your best colors. One thing you can do is take the swatches and get turtlenecks and collared shirts that can go under sweaters in your proper colors so that those are the colors right next to your skin/face/neck and with that, it's easier to look great in other colors that might be less your colors. Good case in point is the black turtleneck with the celery green overalls. With the black near your face, it works great though I've seen you wear it with other things that don't look as great.

Just keep in mind that you border both clear winter AND dark autumn so you can incorporate some of the brighter shades from your sister winter AND some warmer shades from your sister autumn! This made so much sense to me as there are some warmer shades I look great in, like a bright olive, burnt sienna, and rust red. And you can still rock all the pastels as long as they are more of a cool, icy version of the color!!! As for the hair, maybe it's because it warms up your features or makes them pop more because of the contrast? I personally loved the rose gold hair on you because it made your eyes look so bright! But I also think your stylist did a phenomenal job picking the rose gold tone that was flattering for your coloring overall as well. Love you Molly! Thank you for sharing this awesome video.

    But super pleased you got your colours done, I’m such an advocate for seasonal analysis - life changing!

    You look amazing at the end in the recap, you can tell already that you've taken a lot from the experience. You do look so good in cool tones, it makes you look edgy and chic! I am cool toned as well, I'm a summer and there are lots of beiges, and browns that help to warm up my pallet.

    I have never been professionally color analyzed, but feel the most comfortable in black with accents of jewel tone colors such as burgundy, deep teal, forest green. A followup video with a complete face of recommended colors would be fun. I did like the shadow and lip colors at the end of this video.

    There is an interesting contrast between what colours you personally enjoy and what colours are "supposed" to suit you in these. I think it's common even for sighted people to have wardrobes full of colours that aren't their season. I find these videos fun but at the end of the day it's your life and body and like she said - if you like something and it feels good to wear, then wear it

    I think sometimes people are more likely to compliment outfit pieces or hair colours individually when it is not your colour palette (because they stand out and you can see them seperately more easily) but are more likely to compliment your whole look or how healthy you look when your colours are in your palette.

    I immediately said dark winter, so glad I'm right because you look incredible! I've always thought you look sooo much better with a cool toned ashy blonde because your eyebrows and roots are super ashy. Plus you still have so many vibrant and Molly-themed colors in your pallet! They're just less yellow and more complimentary to who you are!

    This is such a fascinating video, Molly. Like much of your content, this video challenges the concept of vision and the assumptions we make when we can see, and takes the concept of color on its head for those of us with vision.
    Watching you have this experience was fascinating and helped me be a better artist, and honestly, person. I live with a lot of disabilities myself, just more in the genetic/autoimmune/mobility world, and thinking about how we interact with our clothes and makeup and the colors they are - it’s just so fascinating and helpful even if matching a color palette isn’t important to the watcher.
    As ever, thank you for the uplifting, fascinating, and personal growth motivating content and forever continue with the joy and confidence that you carry everyday!
    And choose clothing and colors that make you so happy, without worry too much concern for your palette. I do *love* the palette Joy chose for you. You look magnificent in greens and blues, especially jewel tones, but I also love how you look in your clothes and I absolutely think your mom’s support and color instincts also match your inclinations. It’s just like - Joy and your mom are both right, just looking at you from different angles, if you will. You look good in it all and I’ve always admired your dedication and effort toward it for multiple reasons - not the least of which is that you have to work to fit in with the sighted world that totally takes that sense for granted and assumes that everyone has that luxury. It’s a brave and bold heir of confidence where ableism would deny you and I admire so that you work toward those goals. I also would like to say: you should be gentle with yourself and remember you’re not obligated to meet the expectations of the sighted world, but I love that you’ve transformed a piece of ableism into a personal passion and joy.
    As another makeup and fashion lover, I would love to learn from other blind people how to engage on those topics with interested people on the spectrum of blindness. I have more experience with the deaf community and I need to expand my world more to share the experiences of my limited sight or sightless peers to be a better advocate and friend.
    Hope this finds you happy and wearing some things that bring you immense joy, regardless of their color, makeup included!

    That was a really interesting video, and I loved the way Joy described each colour. I wonder if colours may serve you differently than a sighted person as you have talked about the feeling or experience associated with colours. Feeling like the colours that bring you joy are 'wrong' would have been hard. I'm glad that in true Molly style you've taken the parts of Joy's advice that work for you but are still staying true to yourself. You are a fashion icon, I absolutely love your style!!

    I love your takeaway from this though, that you have this in your toolbox now that you can use in the future, but can still wear and buy the colours you like!
    Like just because something isn't a colour that would look the best on you, doesn't mean it doesn't still look good!

    Don’t let this analysis make you doubt your clothing choices! If you have to choose one thing to prioritize, you look better in clothes that match your style than clothes that perfectly match your coloring. Fun to do and helpful for if you want that extra oomf, but any analysis that needs to be done with a professional in a grey vacuum doesn’t need too much weight put on it. This sighted fashion lover will co-sign your instincts.

It's really impossible to find something good (I also don't really spend much on clothes so if something that fits me is expensive I simply do not buy them). I was little confused about your result but then I remembered your natural hair color and the time that you had long hair with bangs and it makes so much sense. The dark hair with bangs and red lipstick looked SO good on you. I feel like back then you wore lot of colors that are in your palette! The same kinda happened to me. I wore lot of corals, yellows and warm turquoises when I was younger and then stopped wearing them for 10 years, because those weren't in style. I wore muted colors that did not look good and I couldn't figure out why. But I am true spring and now it makes so much sense!

    This was a big thing to do in the 80s. So much fun. I'm definitely a dark winter. I have very dark brown hair, hazel eyes and quite olive skin. The things Niamh was saying about creams and peachy/orangey colours are the exact things my Mum used to say to me: you look drawn/wan/sallow/ill but, as you say, we are limited to what is available in shops unless you are so wealthy you can afford to get everything made for you in your perfect colours. However, I will say that, even as a sighted person, I would find that whole experience very out of my comfort zone, confronting and totally overwhelming and I would have my opinionated inner voice saying that she doesn't know what she is talking about if she told me one of my favourite colours didn't suit me.

    I think the "correct" colors are more chic, but I really like the fun popping pastels that were "wrong" for you. So I don't think there were any colors that were actually bad on you, just ones that are more blended with your natural features vs. ones that make more of a statement on their own.
