In regards to our Reaction videos:
As many of you know RUclips can be an unpredictable and often unfair place when it comes to copyright rules and their enforcement. If our video ends up getting cut due to copyright reasons it will be labeled in the title as a Review rather than a Reaction. The music video portion of the video will be cut out and you will only see our before and after thoughts. Unfortunately this is the best we can do under those circumstances and we would appreciate a Like rating on our videos to help us overcome any negative algorithmic affects.

Epica - Arcana (Symfonic Synergy live) was a really master full performance so they really set the expectations high for the album. Like the song, nice with something different from Epica.
you are right, this band is capable of more. This song is not quite in their spirit, but it diversified their work a little, the song is energetic
ARCH ENEMY - Paper Tiger
Epica is amazing! I'm a big fan for a long time now (since 2005) and they never disappoint imo!
This song is indeed pretty 'simple' for their standards, but this an amazing song.
Epica tends to be more epic than this song, but I genuinely liked this power metal (and less symphonic) approach.
Simone's voice has changed over the years (which is a natural process), and I think her voice (currently) fits better in this faster style than in the symphonic style.
Of course, this is just my point of view, I also never understood why the band had 2 guitarists hehehehe

I've been a fan of Epica for years but I wasn't feeling this song. This is not a song I would introduce people to the band with. I remember discovering Epica years ago on RUclips and falling in love with them immediately. Gorgeous lead singer with incredible operatic vocals, a badass harsh vocalist/guitarist, powerful symphonic sound with awesome choir vocals, and secular lyrics with deep meaning for the times they were written in. This song was not that at all. If this was your first time listening to Epica please give them another shot and go listen to Cry For The Moon, Sensorium, and The Phantom Agony.
This song is really radio friendly. For something heavier you should checkout Essence of Silence(live) or Kingdom of Heaven part 1 or 3 from Omega alive(it was a lockdown era live stream)
With Epica you get everything from soft ballads to death metal with everything in between.
This is very much one of their more ‘radio friendly’ singles.
Also, they are at their best live. If you want heavier Epica try The Essence of Silence official live or Consign to Oblivion live at the Zenith.
epica always has 1 mandatory 'single'. i think its contractual. storm the sorrow is another example. it also never features the growling. it is what it is. solid song though

I would not call Cross The Divide Epica's peak songs, its just a poppy public friendly song.
Try out their song Kingdom of Heaven ~ A New Age Dawns. Pt 5 from Design Your Universe. It’s epically long but every bit great!

As others have stated here, the song in the music video that you recently saw from EPICA 'Arcana' was played for the first time in a show late last year, this is EPICA live in concert 🙃
EPICA - Arcana (Live at The Symphonic Synergy)
Hi guys, you just discovered one of the greatest bands in the world, EPICA are simply phenomenal,
one thing you will discover, their catalogue of work has a huge variety of styles ranging from breathtakingly beautiful, through vast landscapes of Symphonic Prog metal to very heavy with death metal elements and every style in between, such an amazing band, I discovered them 11 years ago when they were already 11 years into their career, they have been my favorite band ever since.

This band is a real music box. They were on the rise in the symphonic death metal scene and now they have a new power metal single that is very well constructed, but still Epica. The quality standard they have been presenting since Omega is spectacular! Good songs with passages from practically all metal styles.
Since Nightwish has been shitting the bed, this scratched that symphonic metal itch pretty well.
Yup the last couple of albums from Nightwish have been disappointing and forgettable. Epica are now the best in my opinion :)
@MrsMusicLover89 the last album was straight up awful from nightwish. You couldn't even hear the vocals.
What’s funny is this song kind of reminds me of classic Nightwish-the whispery backing vocals and main riff in the chorus give me some Dark Passion Play-era vibes.
Damn, listening to the Omega Alive album for your first intro to Epica is definitely diving in with both feet! It’s definitely the most amazing effort to come out of the pandemic online concerts everyone did-and if you haven’t seen any of the videos for it, definitely encourage you to check those out too! The music is perfection, but that brings it to a whole new level.
Meanwhile, I love this song and I’m so excited for the new album! I was lucky enough to be at the Symphonic Synergy show where they debuted Arcana and Aspiral for the first time, and now we have Cross the Divide-it’s different, simpler, more punchy power-metal vibes, but it’s so catchy and done so well and Epica definitely put their stamp on it! Just don’t listen to it while driving XD

What about a *GORMATHON* reaction?
Their live vids are even better than the MVs! The sound and performance are so natural and 'clean' (in a good way, quality wise). May I suggest you react to the live performance of Arcana or live takes from the AFAS Live concert.
You definitely need to react to them live. Consign to Oblivion, or Unleashed are heavier.
