Hi jim it’s jim here from England, cut that sanding sealer 50/50 with thinners by the time you’ve put the rag down it’s dry and straight on to finish. Get them wings down to where you want them then remove the middle that way you dont risk wobble or chisel marks. That type of bowl is very addictive 😊 nice job.
@jimgeelan5949 i think my sealer is getting old and concentrated, so I was actually planning to thin it during this video! As far as the wings, you describe my normal technique, but it's so dry here, and the wood is so wet they were distorting from drying, not just being thin. That said, I am always looking for ways to improve, and I know I have a ways to go! Thanks for watching!
Very nice, Your videos are time wise great I love the voice over when you explain what you are doing, keep up the great work, I look forward to more videos. Thanks.
No, you don't talk too much. Demonstrations are straightforward, concise and much appreciated. Just wish I had your vision . . . and your workshop. Have subscribed. Thanks
Thank you for the support! My vision doesn't always work out but I try. My workshop is pretty small but crammed with all the tools I need. It took 20 years to acquire what I have, so take the long view! I wanted to have a shop that would keep me busy in retirement and I worked toward it. I started with a circular saw, jig saw and a hand plane. You can get there!
Glad to know you are a Phil Anderson fan. So much of what I know about turning has come from his RUclips videos. Thanks, also, for the timeline information. Lets me know how slow I truly am.😂 Well done! Thanks for posting.
Phil is always so inventive in his approach to a piece which inspires me to really look closely at a blank before I start. I consider myself pretty slow, this was a small and wet log so it was pretty easy to get the shape quickly since I knew what I had in mind. Thanks for watching!
Maybe you could try putting some quiet background music in? The commentary is so nice for breaking up a lot of the very quiet parts, having something inbetween might be really nice!

Great video. Small green bowls are enjoyable to turn. Good job explaining each step. ❤
Thanks so much! 😊 I do enjoy a quick little project sometimes.

Love it Jim. I have no problem with longer videos.
Ok thanks! I appreciate the feedback!

I'm not sure about the music. From watching other channels, adding music tends to provoke pretty strong reactions from some viewers...
