Thank you Jason we all very much look up to you and value your channel and it's been great really seeing you since you've come back really finding that passion again !
A few years back I started to buy the MOTU Origins figures that came out. Which were just re-releases of the 80s toys, with better articulation. I felt that was good enough (and a lot cheaper) to have in my collection for He-Man and the Masters of the Universe than trying to buy the originals from the 80s. Good luck, Jason! This should be a fun quest for ya to do over the next few months.
The He-Man toys are so great. I’ve been really enjoying the recent “cartoon collection” figures that they put out. The cartoon, while I have great memories of it, is a little hard for me to sit down and watch full episodes as an adult. However, the music, the sound effects, the glimpses of iconic 80s imagery, makes it perfect for background ambience. I’m excited for this journey!
MOTU was the first toyline I fell in love with when I was a kid. I had a pretty big collection. Unfortunately I sold most of the figures years ago and I only kept the complete ones (20 figures more or less). And you're right: you needed a parent to assemble playsets like Castle Grayskull. 😅 Well, in my case I got help from my brother, who's 10 years older than me. 😁 In recent years I purchased some MOTU Origins figures and some Mega Construx vehicles with figures. Of course they're not comparable to the original '80s toys, but someway they succeed in bringing me very good memories. I think Origins are the closest thing to the '80s toyline, and Mega Construx are very very fun to assemble and to display.
He-Man was my first toyline that I collected. It preceded my love of wrestling and the LJNs. And as I’m sure you’ve guessed, I still have mine from childhood. They have been shown on the channel.
I’m glad you’re recollecting some Heman guys. Probably the most creative and visually pleasing toy line from the 80’s. Also maybe the most playable figures. The size is perfect and legs and arms move. I never had a lot of LJN guys but I had heman and used to do a fantasy wrestling league with them. Beast man was a long time champion. I’d also love to see you collect more MUSCLE men Kinniku men. I recently went to Japan and wanted to buy some of the bigger Japanese ones but the retro ones I found were literally 100 dollars each and I saw my wife’s reaction to wanting to spend hundreds of dollars on them and decided against it haha. Also if you try to collect most of the muscle men most of them are still quite cheap 2-5 dollars. The only two that are expensive are the claw character and satans cross.
Another iconic collection idea which I have quite a bit of is Garbage Pail Kids. Not figures but arguably top five most iconic collectibles from the 80’s. And especially early sets are visually and artistically amazing.
Snake Mountain came out in 1984. Series 1 in 1982 consisted of He-Man, Teela, Man At Arms, Zodak, Stratos, Skeletor, Mer-Man, Beast Man, Battlecat, Castle Greyskull, Battle Ram, and Wind Raider.
I would say series 1-3 are a must, but there are some great figures in series 4-6, too. I'm collecting all of them or as many as my wallet will allow, haha!! I'm more than 3/4 of the way there. I don't think I'll be getting the Eternia play set, though. It's way too expensive. I'm not paying $3,000 for a complete one. Series 6 has some really pricey figures as well. I have 2 figures from series 6 so far.
I watched He-Man before school as well but I watched GI Joe after school....The He-man & She ra Christmas special is still awesome & special today...🥲🥲

Great toyline, brings back great memories for me Jas.
I'm a massive Norris fan, but I don't remember the figures at all.

Yeah man, I want to love cartoons so much but they are not easy to watch as an adult

Been collecting the Origins line for a few years now and it’s been fantastic!

Oh I’m excited! Yes you def need point dread and the talon fighter to perch on top of castle grayskull! Visually iconic for the castle
Funny you mention the stickers. I messed up a ring apron on my LJN ring. I asked for a new ring my parents laughed. 😂
