      Thanks Clark, the morning we visited with the Fuji was not amazing, but it actually took the pressure off as we weren’t chasing the light. The detail in the files is amazing isn’t it!

      Cheers Brian, I tend to head out with other photographers when I can, you can bounce ideas off each other and of course it is better company! It was very kind of Gordon to let me have the Fuji for a couple of days, and I made a few bits and pieces for his review of the lens - since I had the chance to use it for an interior photoshoot. It’s all about who you know!

      I think it keeps the mind engaged when you have to try out new things, as I could operate my cameras in the dark I know them so well. I think this was the first time I had used any Fuji. The different aspect ratio would take me a while to get used to, I am so used to have a different ‘frame’ to compose my images to.

      @@benharveyphotography I love the 16:9, or 65:24 ratio's these days. For me, those ratios allow for more interesting compositions and they seem to tell a story better.

    Hi Ben, just to notice that you can obtain exactly the same image with the GFX 100 first generation. And you can easily find one in mint condition for less than 4000€ (sorry I'm french and can't think in £). I purchased one last year on eBay absolutely new, never used, from a shop, for half the price of a new one (replacing a full set around a Sony A 7V) and felt in love with it. I think that I will never go back to full frame ! Have a nice day !

      Hi Jean, I have not used the mark 1 to understand what the difference is, but I am sure that also has incredible image quality. I don’t see myself jumping up from full frame to medium format anytime soon as I shoot a lot of video and have built up quite a collection of lenses for Sony and Canon over the years. It was nice to see what I am missing out on with the Fuji medium format system though. I would like to try a Fuji APS-C next…..

      Yes, that’s right her images that made it into the book is doing the rounds in the various train stations. We are heading there in April sometime to see it in the flesh. That will be a future video no doubt. Whilst we are in London I might capture some fine art images, and I do have some ideas for future fine art videos - but it is being allowed out at the weekends to seek out contemporary architecture that is the problem. I need to tie it in to when I am in London already. There are many contemporary buildings that will suit it in Brighton.

    Love the colourful building shots, the TSE Len's are great I used the Canon 24mm TSE mk 2 for years before I changed to Fujifilm XT, a great thing to do is to shift 3 times to create a pano without any fuss, also tilting can give you massive depth of field at a smaller f stop and as the lens is bigger the the sensor the image quality is pin sharp.

    • @benharveyphotography
      @benharveyphotography  7 месяцев назад

      Hi Richard, I still own and use the Canon 24mm TS lens, I think I have owned that for over ten years now and that was the reason that Gordon leant me the camera and lens to get my thoughts on it. Good advice on the pano stitching capabilities.

      @@benharveyphotography I have the 30mm now - its awesome - mega front lens shade accepts filters of 105mm but you can take it off and go for smaller - with the supplied tripod ring it balances the GFS100II with a grip (gives you 2 extra batteries) nicely - London Camera Exchange kindly supplied - also a MCEX 18mm - although I have just found that GFX do an adaptor for HC lenses (a collaboration between Fuji and Hass where Hass kept the system going and Fuji did not) and so in fact there may be a cheaper solution on offer for some in the Hasselblad HTS 1.6 T+S adaptor and Hc lenses - cool beans

    Ben, it’s only £10k, I’ll have two please. Will you come & be my minder. Joking aside, detail & resolution are what these sudo medium format cameras are all about. It would be interesting to see how good they are when compared to a 6x6 or 6x7-inch film based propper medium format camera. Someone may actually make a digital camera or digital back with a huge sensor that size. I’ve only ever shot one digital medium format camera & that was a very early example of a Hasselblad X1D 50 C at Park Cameras. Not that impressed, to be honest. I believe the latest version of the 50 & 100 models are said to have better image quality & colour than the equivalent Fuji models. They are beautifully built as well. Being machined from a solid billet of magnesium. Alas, they are all fantasy cameras as far as I’m concerned. Ben, you’re happy with a 24mp full frame & I’m happy with a 45mp full frame. That has enough zoom & crop potential for anything I currently shoot. If I need to read the clock at the end of the pier, I’ll put a 200-500mm lens on. A much less expensive option, if not quite so convenient. Shame you had so little time to play & the weather was naff. All in all an interesting piece. What’s next Ben, free fall parachuting with your iPhone? 😂

      Thanks Chris. I say in this video that I don’t need the resolution, but I could have done with it in the video I am editing for a few videos time. I went out shooting Deer at Petworth and 400mm was nowhere near enough. I borrow an 800mm which was pretty damn good for the job, I still had to crop in a bit. 100MP would have been much appreciated, although the weight and cost of it not so much!
