It's a worldwide trend though, I'm not a smoker anymore and hardly drink these days, I'm only 35. People go to the gym nowadays or go for muesli or avocado on toast, as you usually don't get a hangover from them. Pubs and clubs can't entice people like they used to. It's a shame
@@JamesG89 It's not a trend. It didn't happen organically. It was inflicted upon us after many attempts through various laws and legislations which they are still plotting now. Almost £20 a packet today, over £19 of that is just tax. If only taxing stabbings was so lucrative, we'd be a rich country again!

Ex Canadian bar owner here. Sold my bar in July 2000. 6 months later the government banned smoking in Bars. Poor guy who bought it went under 2 months later.
Locally my city lost 75% of our pubs in the 10 years following the smoking ban. People used to give directions by the pubs

Smoking costs the NHS on average about £2.5 Billion a year (equivalent to 2% of the health service's budget) whilst the income on cigarette tax is around £8.8 Billion a year. I'm no mathematician but isn't the second number larger than the first? Yet we are told the current budget deficit is £51 Billion in 2023/2024, equivalent to about 1.9% of the UK's GDP, so how is losing all the income from tobacco tax going to help when the government is spending over £8 Million a day housing immigrants in hotels alone, there is no concerns regarding our elderly, or our veterans, NO they would rather jail someone who expresses their thoughts online, this country is so broken, and even more so now labour is in power and Keir Starmer has gone crazy with power. This won't end with a smoking ban!
