  • Twenty years after his manslaughter conviction, "Party Monster" Michael Alig says he's trying to reinvent himself. In 1996, the club promoter and his roommate Robert "Freeze" Riggs killed acquaintance, Andre "Angel" Melendez. They cut up Melendez's body and threw it in the Hudson River. They also talked openly about the killing in an effort, he now says, to put the burden on someone else. "I know that nothing I ever do is going to erase the past," Alig told InsideEdition.com. #InsideEdition

He was speaking so fast it seems like he was high on coke. I was shocked when he said he was 52, as I am as well! Which means in 1996 he was 31 & not a kid!! I was married and pregnant with my 3rd son. I stopped partying at 22, but never had any murdering tendencies while high! How did he only receive 17 years for murder?? That he ended up dead due to a heroin overdose is proof he never really faced up to it fully, and I doubt he could've redeemed himself properly. The piece that Michael said about "if *they* wanted to contact *me* for any reason whatsoever, I would be open to speaking with them and listening to whatever they had to say" was totally the right response to the question of what he would say to the Mendelez family. He gets that any communication from him could make their pain that much worse. Is he a monster? Yes. But do I think he's aware of the damage he's done? Absolutely.
