This was a really amazing baseball moment. The way that the commentators let the moment play out for a while without saying anything, hearing one of Judge’s teammates say “take your time, take your time” while he goes through the lineup getting congrats from everyone, to that final shot with Roger Maris Jr. telling Aaron’s mom “congratulations” and giving her a hug. So many great moments in the bigger moment of #61.
How can you not be romantic about baseball?

If you're a fan of a team you have to be a fan of the game too and support the good of the game. I was high school age and a Cubs fan in the 1960s. I have never complained about the Cubs trading Lou Brock to the Cardinals. Brock reached his baseball potential and did the most he could for the game in St. Louis. Who knows if he would have become quite the same icon in Chicago. Seriously, I doubt it. He might have been traded somewhere else a couple of years later, and from there to a third team eventually. His game was not the game the Cubs played.
With Aaron Judge, we will have an honest contemporary season home run record even if it is only an American league record. The sportswriters and sport broadcasters can opine all they want. Fact is, without PED's, McGwire, Sosa and Bonds would never have had season home run totals in the 60s and 70s. Bonds has a known stat line from before he juiced. He wouldn't have exceeded that without steroids. It helps that I am a Fresno State alumnus. I received an M.A. degree there just recently. You can figure how old I am but it was a lifelong goal for me.
I pay more attention to the fact that Bonds, Matt Williams and Jeff Bagwell were denied the opportunity to challenge the old Hack Wilson NL record of 56 home runs due to the 1994 labor action. The NL records set in the steroid era mean absolutely nothing to me.

You can talk about Barry and mark all you want, but they were better hitters than judge as far as power.
