after playing it again multiple times, there’s a lot of other, albeit subtle, foreshadowing regarding jefferson. in the second second episode when kate attempts/commits suicide, jefferson is very dodgy and defensive when the topic of kate arises. for example, when max approaches him after he causes kate to cry and walk away, max can talk to jefferson about rachel. he then gets defensive and asks something along the lines of “rachel? what does she have to do with kate?”
This game really taught me to appreciate life and those around me. It’s crazy how Max saving Chloe was the problem basically meaning the entire game was technically a lie.
It's not a lie everything that happened did happen that's not even a technicality. It's essentially you're the only one who knows the truth and will ever know the truth. Then you're in this deep depression and she is a hollow shell of herself without her best friend by her side the small smile max gives is her seeing Chloe and appreciating her but still saddened that no one can ever know what Chloe does for them except max

So saving Chloe meant someone else had to get unalived in her place, and because it is a butterfly effect, more lives get lost because Max intervened in that one life. All in all, I think it's about being able to accept the things we can not change and learn to grow from them.

funny how this all came full circle and how Mikeey lowkey predicted the ending in one of his earlier videos! I remember him talking about loyalty vs doing the right thing and that argument is what defines the game's ending!! good job mike!!!
My theory is that the reason Chloe has really bad luck is that her fate has already been sealed (when Nathan shot her), and when Max saves Chloe, fate brings upon a new tragedy to try and fix the course of life and death. This is (presumably) why in the other reality where William is alive, Chloe is already on the path to death.

Yes everything weird that happened like the snowfall, the beached whales, the two moons and the tornado were caused by Max traveling back and forth through time.
timeline was reacting and destroying itself because it was confused by the unexplainable actions max was doing to stop the inevitable. death. chloe has to to die, it was her fate, for every action, there's an equal reaction. that was more lives dying, to stop 1. it was just being delayed. what i hate about the bay ending is that it means that chloe dies without closure. she doesn’t know that max is back in arcadia bay, and their entire week of rekindling their bond only affects max. it means that chloe dies feeling alone and betrayed, and for that reason i can never, personally, choose to sacrifice her. i believe that chloe deserves a better ending than that
thats what i keep thinking about too. i dont love everyone dying just for chloe but when i see her die instead of everyone, the fact that she didnt get any peace ever just keeps replaying in my mind. none of these are happy endings to me 😭😭😭
The crazy thing is, is Victoria would have survived both endings because she won the everyday heroes contest. Which means she would be in San Francisco during the storm. 😅
The storm is caused by the disturbance in natural order of time. It's the butterfly effect in action. I believe that Max gets her time-bending time powers through the spirit of Rachael Amber, represented by the ghostly deer. Rachael Amber is vengeful and wants justice above all, but she cannot see how her decision affects the natural world. This theory is supported by the prequel Life is Strange: Before the Storm, where she does something similar in smaller scale.
Pompidou was sitting at the booth where you and Chloe had breakfast in episode 2. If you sat at the booth, Pompidou will lay his head on Max's lap while pondering and analyzing the whole tornado situation.
MIKEY READ THIS! This is a very profound story for me so I’ll try explain a few points u didn’t seem to catch up on.. This game establishes Arcadia bay as its own character, the town feels alive and as if it was, it reacts. That is made obvious through the many notable remarks characters make about its history, heritage etc and through the later weather havoc. Max’s power being something gifted to her from the universe, external from the town, gives her the ability to disrupt Arcadia’s timeline. Max gets a vision of the tornado, as a sort of sign right before she makes her first disruption: saving Chloe, something she is aided in doing by Chloe’s spirit animal: the blue butterfly, that leads Max to a safe space she is able to hide in. Saving her delays Nathan and Jefferson getting caught by like 5 episodes too is an interesting point. But regardless, as Chloe and Max proceed on their detecting, a few things happen: firstly, the doe is Rachel’s spirit animal, it’s seen in numerous of Max’s nightmares leading her to through them, also standing over where Rachael’s body is to be found later on, and disappears once it’s unfinished business is done; providing her loved one Chloe with closure of her disappearance, being able to use Max’s power as her instrument from the afterlife. Chloe keeps almost dying, be it to the train, Jefferson etc, as a way of Arcadia bay trying to fix the disruptions Max is causing. The more max alters the timeline the more Arcadia resists, through the only manner it can: natural havoc: snow in the summer, random eclipse, dying birds and whales, a double moon, and finally a whole tornado as what seems to me to be its nuclear solution to the problem of this town, to simply wipe this anomaly off the map entirely. Now for the question of why Max had this power if she wasn’t allowed to use it? To me it seems like the universe gave Max this gift for herself and Chloe, as well as in the name of justice. The universe gave Max a chance to reunite with her childhood friend, and Chloe, a chance at the same, to even out the karma considering all the trauma she’s gone through. It gave them both one last experience to reunite as best friends and provide Chloe with closure of Rachel’s disappearance just as her time was up. So in my interpretation: the universe was empathetic and for justice, the town felt this anomalous presence, they were both at odds, ultimately leaving Max and Chloe with one last experience together before letting destiny take its course.
this is definitely gonna be an interesting video. life is strange is my second favorite game ever, so seeing mikey make the choices i so friggin heavily struggled with is an interesting concept for me. i‘m excited to see what he‘s choosing, but i‘m already suspecting bay.
The only person who survives in the other ending (Sacrifice Arcadia Bay) is David, Jefferson (if David didn't kill him) and Victoria (if she believes in you when you warned her about the Dark Room). But then, all the other good characters die (Warren, Kate, Joyce, Dana...), literally everyone else. It is so tragic and sad. I'm glad you chose to Sacrifice Chloe, this was my choice too back when I played the game. I really loved this series, your videos are amazing! I'll be looking forward to your next Life is Strange series gameplay! :)

Mikeeey, do you understand how hard I was crying watching this, like literally piles of tissue. This episode specifically was just an emotional roller coaster. Sadness, anger, shock, disbelief, confusion, happiness(only a lil tho). This is a great game and I was glad to finally watch how everything went down. You definitely made The right choice tho in the end even tho I cried the most at the option.
I watched so many playthroughs of this when the game came out, so I wasn't planning on watching yours lol. However, I really appreciate how immersed you let yourself become in the games you play. Choosing to sacrifice Chloe ends up with her and Max never reuniting, so the last time they were together was right before her father died. She died thinking Max abandoned her entirely which makes it more tragic. If you do play Before the Storm, there is a bonus farewell episode which shows you Max and Chloe's last day together as kids. I chose to sacrifice Chloe ☹️ don’t get me wrong I love her character so much but if you really think about it, if u sacrifice Arcadia bay, Rachel never gets her justice. Everyone dies thinking that she just disappeared and die with the memories of her, die not knowing what Nathan and Mr. Jefferson did to all those girls. The WHOLE point of Chloe and Max doing everything was to get Rachel justice. So with sacrificing Chloe, Rachel, Kate, and all the other girls else get their justice, and instead of Nathan and Jefferson dying and taking the easy way out, they suffer in prison as they should.
I don’t believe that Rachel’s justice is people knowing what happened to her, it’s closure but not justice for anyone. The way she could get justice is by having her perpetrators be held accountable and face consequences which they do in both endings, they either die young or rot in jail. I agree with that last part, but regardless of when they die they have eternal hell waiting for them
The best explanation for the storm (imo) is that the storm is triggered by Max's use of her powers to change reality. Whether that be to save William in the past (triggering the storm to happen however many years in the future), or to save Chloe (triggering the storm to happen later in the week). The storm merely acts as the world's way of correcting a rift in the space-time continuum. So it's implied there'd be now other disaster after the storm, and people's fates would be forever changed. Max would not be able to use her powers again regardless of the ending, as otherwise she'd trigger another catastrophe. Worth mentioning that in the original game, the statistics showed more people sacrificed Chloe. But more hardcore fans played the remaster, so the statistic is now more biased towards the Sacrifice Bay ending (my preferred ending). I'm definitely interested to see how they justify Max using her powers again in the upcoming LiS game. Hope to see you play that, Before the Storm, LiS2, and LiS3 True Colors.

YAYYYYY this was such a great gameplay and im excited for before the storm!! one of the reasons i prefer the sacrificing arcadia choice, is that by sacrificing chloe, max is the ONLY ONE who knows about all the traumatic experiences while everyone else goes on like normal… also chloe will die without ever knowing what happened to rachel, hating david, thinking max abandoned her… all those experienced gone… i dont know how max could live knowing all that..
yes, but it means Max will have to keep saving Chloe from death over and over, while destroying everything on their way. It doesn't make sense, Chloe was destined to die.
the saddest part about sacrificing Chloe is that her last memories with Max were right after her father's death, when she was at her lowest... they never saw each other after that :(

the game reinterpreted 2 big topics: the butterfly effects and the trolley problem. Max changing the timeline cause all the tornado stuff like the butterfly effect. the player having to choose between arcadia and Chloe is the moral dilemma. Does 1 life is more valuable the a group? But what if this life is someone you love? bro I love this game, I get emotional every time
Captain Spirit is very short. Playing it will probably change how you would make some of your choices in episode 2 because you'll have more understanding of what's going on.
I was born and raised in FL so I'm no stranger to crazy weather, but with hurricanes we knew it was coming days, or weeks in advance. Tornados scare tf out of me because they're so random and there is no way to tell where it will hit more than maybe 10 minutes in advance.
This is my most favorite play through of this game I've watched. You truly care about your decisions even if at the end of the day it's just a game. it's refreshing to see someone play like this. Keep being you

well, for one, “the bunker” is a literal crime scene which would be an entire thing on its own if they tried to lead the whole town there. mainly though, i think max and chloe were too absorbed with their pursuit in finding rachel and solving arcadia bay’s mysteries, that they didn’t fully comprehend what the storm would mean for the bay.
Just so you know, captain spirit isn’t really necessary if you wanna play LIS 2, but the ending will definitely make you more intrigued about the next game. Besides, it’s a short game.
Brooo Mikey your tornado story reminds me of a hurricane in my city earlier this year. The wind was so damn aggressive and it was practically howling as rain fell the hardest it ever had. It was so bad that 10 trees total collapsed on my street and we were barricaded in. I literally watched as a tree collapsed onto the power lines across the street from us. And then boom.. a tree winded up collapsing on my house and it was sticking into our sunroom, and another fell in our driveway. The power was out for 4 days after that😭

Also haven't watched the whole video yet so I don't know if you figured it out or if someone already said it but the reason why Chloe's life sucks in both timelines is because she wasn't supposed to live. That's at least what I heard years ago from some of the game players.

You might have to look up what the butterfly effect is to really understand the outcome. The saying is something to the effect that the wind from a simple butterfly wing could cause a tsunami. As a believer you know that EVERYTHING happens for a reason. Think of it this way, without Nathan being caught after the bathroom incident, the whole dark room issues would possibly not even really come out. Nathan would absolutely have to tell why he shot Chloe, which would lead to Mr Jefferson, which would lead to the dark room, which would lead to also finding Rachel. Every time Max messed with time, Chloe met her demise because she "was supposed to".
im so glad You decided to play the music because going in silence which I watched a lot of RUclipsrs do does not do it justice, so I'm glad you put in the extra work to edit just so you can hear it yourself. about the choice To sacrifice the town, I think they did that on purpose so players couldn't justify them being happy together later in life I wanted to see something. there is a little cameo in lis2 if you make the right choices, I hope the new one that comes out we something of the Canon ending
I feel like the fact that Chloe died never knowing what happend to Rachel the person she loved, Max abandoning her, all alone with an abusive step father and a broken family is the hardest pill to swallow. Also Max having to live alone with the memories the two of them made during one week forever. It defintely taught me that some things are meant to happen and we can do anything against it even though sometimes we want to
It's the trolley problem with a little twist on it . Will you save the one person you care about so much and who's been with you through thick and thin , or would you rather do what most people think is the moral thing and save the many ( i disagree by the way , i don't think sacrificing chloe is the moral decision at all ) . Personally i'd always chose my loved one.
the part where all the characters beg to be allowed to live is so..... unnecessary. it really forces you to lean a certain way instead of making your own evaluation of what you want to choose. to me I think none of it matters and the narrative is about Max's rship with Chloe, and it's just not fair for her to get powers to save Chloe and then have to give her up in the end anyways. it's a contrived situation to set up this exact ending in the first place, when like... she still has powers. Is she just never allowed to use them, ever? What kind of crap??

You might also want to play Life Is Strange 2 and Life Is Strange True Colors! Honestly the other games in the franchise after this fall short in some aspects as compared to the OG but they're pretty good nonetheless and I'd love to see you play them, also curious which choices you'd make!

For anybody wondering the fate of Victoria since it is never super clear: If you warn Victoria about the dark room (and she believes max): she will run to Mr Jefferson for “help” because she believes Nathan is the threat. This results in her meeting the same fate as the other girls and unfortunately dying. In fact, she is seen in the dark room with max in the episode If you don’t warn Victoria about the dark room OR you do warn her (but she doesn’t believe max): she will not go to Mr Jefferson for “help”. So she is safe and continues to live her life - granted you sacrifice Chloe and don’t allow the whole of Arcadia Bay to be destroyed 🤣🤣🤣
When I first played this, I sacrificed Bay over Bae 😬 if it was an irl choice, I’d have chosen the opposite of course. Sacrificing Chloe has the better ending. Also, I can’t believe I never noticed Jefferson said that about Rachel when Max was having a nightmare…. 🤮 Well, Mikeeey, it was great to watch you play this game. It was pretty obvious to me that Mikey wasn’t attached to a single character this entire game 😭 idk if it’s just me but I felt like he played through this as a RUclipsr just doing a play through rather than taking in the game for what it is. The last choice IS supposed to be selfish! When you get through the nightmare sequence at the very end you get told by max that you have been trying to save everyone throughout the whole game, max have been putting everyone before her own choices, trying to do “the right thing”, but that’s not the point! To me the point of the game is about friendship and unconditional love, and knowing that you can’t fix everything, max’s powers isn’t the solution to everything, she tried to do that the whole game and it never worked, so in that last choice she gets to choose to be selfish, to finally understand that she can’t save everyone, that she gets to save her best friend, the one she truly cares about the most. The storm isn’t created bc of max, since she sees the vision before even getting the power, if you think about it, the storm was supposed to happen one way or another.
just a note, you actions in alternative realities didnt influence the last one, Nathan got caught cause everybody at school heard the shot and he got arrested, and jefferson got arrested cause nathan squealed on him...the point of going back was to make max never use her power, basically old max is spaced out while the future max is taking control, and since future max took control during chloe's shooting, old max never learned to do the rewind...so for the whole week she didnt do any time powers since she didnt know she had them...basically only at the end of the week when future max, the one who you played as and who had knowledge and skill rewinding, only when she returned at end of that week, was max able to use her power again, but its likely she chose never to use it again, as she now knows using it causes disasters...althought it remains to be seen with this new sequel coming

There are a couple of reasons to sacrifice Arcadia Bay, or at least making that option more understandable. First, from an in-character perspective, Max has no reason to believe she caused any of this, let alone did so by saving Chloe. The player is supposed to believe that she did, but putting myself in her shoes, it’s an absurd idea. There was a second moon. What chain reaction is doing that? What’s the series of cause and effect relations there? At the moment she makes that decision, Max hasn’t seen what happens if Chloe dies. I don’t think she’d do that. The second reason, and this is more of me being pedantic, is that the epilogue you get when you choose to sacrifice Arcadia Bay doesn’t actually confirm that any of the characters we’re worried about died.
I like that you reacted to both endings! This was a great playthrough. Gotta subscribe for all that. I love Chloe and I understand she is Max’s childhood best friend and they’re basically trauma bonded after everything they’ve been through together. But me personally… I think it’s more right to save Arcadia Bay. There’s bad, corrupt people like the Prescotts yes but there’s also good, decent people like Kate and Joyce and Warren. Plus Nathan & Jefferson get punished properly and the town can find out the truth. It wasn’t just Rachel, it was so other girls who deserve justice too. The main thing that makes me sad about the Bay > Bae ending is that Chloe dies in that bathroom, feeling abandoned by Max and not knowing what really happened Rachel. But unfortunately I think it is her destiny to die young. There is also a theory I like that the deer following Max and Chloe represents the spirit of Rachel. I also theorize that Rachel gave Max her powers and the vision of the storm so she could reunite with Chloe and uncover the truth of what happened to Rachel.

Yeah so Captain spirit is a little short game about a character you meet later in LiS 2. I think they ask you to play it after episode 1. it just gives more backstory on this other character.
2:41:40 it's the chaos theory warren mentioned. think of a bunch of video reels being smashed together. you got all these alternate realities trying to merge or correct itself by killing chloe, and here you have max rewriting onto these reels at the same time. these different times and climates are merging and time is getting confused. snow happening in one time and the eclipse happening at another. so the weather acted in that way as a result.
What kills me is Chloe died thinking no one cared about her, she died not knowing Max cared about her or came back, she died not knowing what happened to Rachel. She really did die alone.

The storm premonition essentially gives her the powers to save Chloe. It all begins with the storm it ends with the storm

If you sacrifice arcadia bay she probably died when you don't warn her. I think in that ending she is safe in the dark room because of the storm

what i hate about the bay ending is that it means that chloe dies without closure. she doesn’t know that max is back in arcadia bay, and their entire week of rekindling their bond only affects max.
it means that chloe dies feeling alone and betrayed, and for that reason i can never, personally, choose to sacrifice her. i believe that chloe deserves a better ending than that
thats what i keep thinking about too. i dont love everyone dying just for chloe but when i see her die instead of everyone, the fact that she didnt get any peace ever just keeps replaying in my mind. none of these are happy endings to me 😭😭😭

The storm is caused by the disturbance in natural order of time. It's the butterfly effect in action.
I believe that Max gets her time-bending time powers through the spirit of Rachael Amber, represented by the ghostly deer. Rachael Amber is vengeful and wants justice above all, but she cannot see how her decision affects the natural world. This theory is supported by the prequel Life is Strange: Before the Storm, where she does something similar in smaller scale.
Pompidou was sitting at the booth where you and Chloe had breakfast in episode 2. If you sat at the booth, Pompidou will lay his head on Max's lap while pondering and analyzing the whole tornado situation.

This is a very profound story for me so I’ll try explain a few points u didn’t seem to catch up on..
This game establishes Arcadia bay as its own character, the town feels alive and as if it was, it reacts. That is made obvious through the many notable remarks characters make about its history, heritage etc and through the later weather havoc. Max’s power being something gifted to her from the universe, external from the town, gives her the ability to disrupt Arcadia’s timeline. Max gets a vision of the tornado, as a sort of sign right before she makes her first disruption: saving Chloe, something she is aided in doing by Chloe’s spirit animal: the blue butterfly, that leads Max to a safe space she is able to hide in. Saving her delays Nathan and Jefferson getting caught by like 5 episodes too is an interesting point. But regardless, as Chloe and Max proceed on their detecting, a few things happen: firstly, the doe is Rachel’s spirit animal, it’s seen in numerous of Max’s nightmares leading her to through them, also standing over where Rachael’s body is to be found later on, and disappears once it’s unfinished business is done; providing her loved one Chloe with closure of her disappearance, being able to use Max’s power as her instrument from the afterlife. Chloe keeps almost dying, be it to the train, Jefferson etc, as a way of Arcadia bay trying to fix the disruptions Max is causing. The more max alters the timeline the more Arcadia resists, through the only manner it can: natural havoc: snow in the summer, random eclipse, dying birds and whales, a double moon, and finally a whole tornado as what seems to me to be its nuclear solution to the problem of this town, to simply wipe this anomaly off the map entirely. Now for the question of why Max had this power if she wasn’t allowed to use it? To me it seems like the universe gave Max this gift for herself and Chloe, as well as in the name of justice. The universe gave Max a chance to reunite with her childhood friend, and Chloe, a chance at the same, to even out the karma considering all the trauma she’s gone through. It gave them both one last experience to reunite as best friends and provide Chloe with closure of Rachel’s disappearance just as her time was up. So in my interpretation: the universe was empathetic and for justice, the town felt this anomalous presence, they were both at odds, ultimately leaving Max and Chloe with one last experience together before letting destiny take its course.

this is definitely gonna be an interesting video. life is strange is my second favorite game ever, so seeing mikey make the choices i so friggin heavily struggled with is an interesting concept for me. i‘m excited to see what he‘s choosing, but i‘m already suspecting bay.
The only person who survives in the other ending (Sacrifice Arcadia Bay) is David, Jefferson (if David didn't kill him) and Victoria (if she believes in you when you warned her about the Dark Room). But then, all the other good characters die (Warren, Kate, Joyce, Dana...), literally everyone else. It is so tragic and sad. I'm glad you chose to Sacrifice Chloe, this was my choice too back when I played the game. I really loved this series, your videos are amazing! I'll be looking forward to your next Life is Strange series gameplay! :)

Mikeeey, do you understand how hard I was crying watching this, like literally piles of tissue. This episode specifically was just an emotional roller coaster. Sadness, anger, shock, disbelief, confusion, happiness(only a lil tho). This is a great game and I was glad to finally watch how everything went down. You definitely made The right choice tho in the end even tho I cried the most at the option.
I watched so many playthroughs of this when the game came out, so I wasn't planning on watching yours lol. However, I really appreciate how immersed you let yourself become in the games you play. Choosing to sacrifice Chloe ends up with her and Max never reuniting, so the last time they were together was right before her father died. She died thinking Max abandoned her entirely which makes it more tragic. If you do play Before the Storm, there is a bonus farewell episode which shows you Max and Chloe's last day together as kids. I chose to sacrifice Chloe ☹️ don’t get me wrong I love her character so much but if you really think about it, if u sacrifice Arcadia bay, Rachel never gets her justice. Everyone dies thinking that she just disappeared and die with the memories of her, die not knowing what Nathan and Mr. Jefferson did to all those girls. The WHOLE point of Chloe and Max doing everything was to get Rachel justice. So with sacrificing Chloe, Rachel, Kate, and all the other girls else get their justice, and instead of Nathan and Jefferson dying and taking the easy way out, they suffer in prison as they should.
I don’t believe that Rachel’s justice is people knowing what happened to her, it’s closure but not justice for anyone. The way she could get justice is by having her perpetrators be held accountable and face consequences which they do in both endings, they either die young or rot in jail. I agree with that last part, but regardless of when they die they have eternal hell waiting for them
The best explanation for the storm (imo) is that the storm is triggered by Max's use of her powers to change reality. Whether that be to save William in the past (triggering the storm to happen however many years in the future), or to save Chloe (triggering the storm to happen later in the week). The storm merely acts as the world's way of correcting a rift in the space-time continuum. So it's implied there'd be now other disaster after the storm, and people's fates would be forever changed. Max would not be able to use her powers again regardless of the ending, as otherwise she'd trigger another catastrophe.
Worth mentioning that in the original game, the statistics showed more people sacrificed Chloe. But more hardcore fans played the remaster, so the statistic is now more biased towards the Sacrifice Bay ending (my preferred ending).
I'm definitely interested to see how they justify Max using her powers again in the upcoming LiS game. Hope to see you play that, Before the Storm, LiS2, and LiS3 True Colors.

one of the reasons i prefer the sacrificing arcadia choice, is that by sacrificing chloe, max is the ONLY ONE who knows about all the traumatic experiences while everyone else goes on like normal… also chloe will die without ever knowing what happened to rachel, hating david, thinking max abandoned her… all those experienced gone… i dont know how max could live knowing all that..

Max changing the timeline cause all the tornado stuff like the butterfly effect. the player having to choose between arcadia and Chloe is the moral dilemma. Does 1 life is more valuable the a group? But what if this life is someone you love? bro I love this game, I get emotional every time
Captain Spirit is very short. Playing it will probably change how you would make some of your choices in episode 2 because you'll have more understanding of what's going on.
I was born and raised in FL so I'm no stranger to crazy weather, but with hurricanes we knew it was coming days, or weeks in advance. Tornados scare tf out of me because they're so random and there is no way to tell where it will hit more than maybe 10 minutes in advance.

well, for one, “the bunker” is a literal crime scene which would be an entire thing on its own if they tried to lead the whole town there.
mainly though, i think max and chloe were too absorbed with their pursuit in finding rachel and solving arcadia bay’s mysteries, that they didn’t fully comprehend what the storm would mean for the bay.
Just so you know, captain spirit isn’t really necessary if you wanna play LIS 2, but the ending will definitely make you more intrigued about the next game. Besides, it’s a short game.

Brooo Mikey your tornado story reminds me of a hurricane in my city earlier this year. The wind was so damn aggressive and it was practically howling as rain fell the hardest it ever had. It was so bad that 10 trees total collapsed on my street and we were barricaded in.
I literally watched as a tree collapsed onto the power lines across the street from us.
And then boom.. a tree winded up collapsing on my house and it was sticking into our sunroom, and another fell in our driveway. The power was out for 4 days after that😭

Also haven't watched the whole video yet so I don't know if you figured it out or if someone already said it but the reason why Chloe's life sucks in both timelines is because she wasn't supposed to live. That's at least what I heard years ago from some of the game players.

You might have to look up what the butterfly effect is to really understand the outcome. The saying is something to the effect that the wind from a simple butterfly wing could cause a tsunami.
As a believer you know that EVERYTHING happens for a reason. Think of it this way, without Nathan being caught after the bathroom incident, the whole dark room issues would possibly not even really come out. Nathan would absolutely have to tell why he shot Chloe, which would lead to Mr Jefferson, which would lead to the dark room, which would lead to also finding Rachel. Every time Max messed with time, Chloe met her demise because she "was supposed to".

I feel like the fact that Chloe died never knowing what happend to Rachel the person she loved, Max abandoning her, all alone with an abusive step father and a broken family is the hardest pill to swallow. Also Max having to live alone with the memories the two of them made during one week forever. It defintely taught me that some things are meant to happen and we can do anything against it even though sometimes we want to
Life is Strange was saddening, but Life is Strange 2 is heartbreaking. It's my favorite part in the series, and you should definitely play LIS2.
It's the trolley problem with a little twist on it . Will you save the one person you care about so much and who's been with you through thick and thin , or would you rather do what most people think is the moral thing and save the many ( i disagree by the way , i don't think sacrificing chloe is the moral decision at all ) .

the part where all the characters beg to be allowed to live is so..... unnecessary. it really forces you to lean a certain way instead of making your own evaluation of what you want to choose. to me I think none of it matters and the narrative is about Max's rship with Chloe, and it's just not fair for her to get powers to save Chloe and then have to give her up in the end anyways. it's a contrived situation to set up this exact ending in the first place, when like... she still has powers. Is she just never allowed to use them, ever? What kind of crap??

For anybody wondering the fate of Victoria since it is never super clear:
If you warn Victoria about the dark room (and she believes max): she will run to Mr Jefferson for “help” because she believes Nathan is the threat. This results in her meeting the same fate as the other girls and unfortunately dying. In fact, she is seen in the dark room with max in the episode
If you don’t warn Victoria about the dark room OR you do warn her (but she doesn’t believe max): she will not go to Mr Jefferson for “help”. So she is safe and continues to live her life - granted you sacrifice Chloe and don’t allow the whole of Arcadia Bay to be destroyed 🤣🤣🤣
When I first played this, I sacrificed Bay over Bae 😬 if it was an irl choice, I’d have chosen the opposite of course. Sacrificing Chloe has the better ending.
Also, I can’t believe I never noticed Jefferson said that about Rachel when Max was having a nightmare…. 🤮

The last choice IS supposed to be selfish! When you get through the nightmare sequence at the very end you get told by max that you have been trying to save everyone throughout the whole game, max have been putting everyone before her own choices, trying to do “the right thing”, but that’s not the point! To me the point of the game is about friendship and unconditional love, and knowing that you can’t fix everything, max’s powers isn’t the solution to everything, she tried to do that the whole game and it never worked, so in that last choice she gets to choose to be selfish, to finally understand that she can’t save everyone, that she gets to save her best friend, the one she truly cares about the most. The storm isn’t created bc of max, since she sees the vision before even getting the power, if you think about it, the storm was supposed to happen one way or another.
just a note, you actions in alternative realities didnt influence the last one, Nathan got caught cause everybody at school heard the shot and he got arrested, and jefferson got arrested cause nathan squealed on him...the point of going back was to make max never use her power, basically old max is spaced out while the future max is taking control, and since future max took control during chloe's shooting, old max never learned to do the rewind...so for the whole week she didnt do any time powers since she didnt know she had them...basically only at the end of the week when future max, the one who you played as and who had knowledge and skill rewinding, only when she returned at end of that week, was max able to use her power again, but its likely she chose never to use it again, as she now knows using it causes disasters...althought it remains to be seen with this new sequel coming
Why Rachael love and in a relationship with every unstable character in the game. Like is she playing everyone at the same time and how did none of them know is. that a skill
There are a couple of reasons to sacrifice Arcadia Bay, or at least making that option more understandable. First, from an in-character perspective, Max has no reason to believe she caused any of this, let alone did so by saving Chloe. The player is supposed to believe that she did, but putting myself in her shoes, it’s an absurd idea. There was a second moon. What chain reaction is doing that? What’s the series of cause and effect relations there? At the moment she makes that decision, Max hasn’t seen what happens if Chloe dies. I don’t think she’d do that. The second reason, and this is more of me being pedantic, is that the epilogue you get when you choose to sacrifice Arcadia Bay doesn’t actually confirm that any of the characters we’re worried about died.
I like that you reacted to both endings! This was a great playthrough. Gotta subscribe for all that.
I love Chloe and I understand she is Max’s childhood best friend and they’re basically trauma bonded after everything they’ve been through together. But me personally… I think it’s more right to save Arcadia Bay. There’s bad, corrupt people like the Prescotts yes but there’s also good, decent people like Kate and Joyce and Warren. Plus Nathan & Jefferson get punished properly and the town can find out the truth. It wasn’t just Rachel, it was so other girls who deserve justice too. The main thing that makes me sad about the Bay > Bae ending is that Chloe dies in that bathroom, feeling abandoned by Max and not knowing what really happened Rachel. But unfortunately I think it is her destiny to die young.
There is also a theory I like that the deer following Max and Chloe represents the spirit of Rachel. I also theorize that Rachel gave Max her powers and the vision of the storm so she could reunite with Chloe and uncover the truth of what happened to Rachel.

Yeah so Captain spirit is a little short game about a character you meet later in LiS 2. I think they ask you to play it after episode 1. it just gives more backstory on this other character.

2:41:40 it's the chaos theory warren mentioned. think of a bunch of video reels being smashed together. you got all these alternate realities trying to merge or correct itself by killing chloe, and here you have max rewriting onto these reels at the same time. these different times and climates are merging and time is getting confused. snow happening in one time and the eclipse happening at another. so the weather acted in that way as a result.
What kills me is Chloe died thinking no one cared about her, she died not knowing Max cared about her or came back, she died not knowing what happened to Rachel. She really did die alone.
