when tying with shanks ,start by tying on a small section fo spider wire or equivalent to the shank the run loose end through the eye of the hook allow 5-7 mm. slippage re attach the loose end to the shank and tie it down well. Cut any tag end off and apply super glue or zap-a-gap to shank to lock it on.

Tied on My stainless steel jaws 20mins ago and had the same problem with a shank. Slowed it with a big hairclipp👍🏼

I left the material clip (spring) that sits on top of the vise head. I put a small rubber band around the rear hook and place around the material clip spring.

Try a small hair clip to clamp the back hook so it's out of the way or a small magnets

Put a rubber band on the bend of the hook and stretch the rubber band back over to the stem of your vise. Articulated shank issues on a Regal fixed.
