MATURITY IN ADVERSITY
2 Corinthians 12:5-10
Introduction:
A. Faithful believers will experience infirmities.
-v.5; Philippians 2:24-28
B. Faithful believers will experience difficulties.
-v.10; 2 Corinthians 4:8-10
C. Difficulties and infirmities will reveal our maturity.
Be mature in the midst of adversity!
Why?
3 reasons why we ought to be mature in the minds of adversity:
I. GOD PERMITS SUFFERING
A. God permits suffering to make Paul humble
-vs.5-7
1. God honors the humble - Prov.15:33; 18:12
2. God exalts the humble -James 4:10; 1 Pet. 5:6
B. God permits suffering to make Paul prayerful
-v.8
C. "Remember that even in the midst of suffering, God's will is being done." - Paul Chappell
II. GOD'S GRACE IS SUFFICIENT
A. God's grace brings satisfaction -v.9
B. God's grace brings strength -v.9
C. 1 Corinthians 15:10
III. GOD STRENGTHENS THE SUBMISSIVE
A. God strengthened Paul when he had no strength -v.9; Isaiah 40:29
B. God strengthened Paul in times of sufferings -v.10
C. God strengthened Paul to make him strong -v.10; 2 Corinthians 13:4
D. Psalms 138:3
Conclusion:
A. Are you mature enough to face adversity as a believer of the Lord Jesus Christ
B. 1 Peter 1:6-11
C. Only a faithful believer can show maturity in the midst of problem, suffering and adversity!
D. If you are not a believer be saved today, if you are truly saved be mature in the midst of adversity.
