      The sad thing is, these sorts of primeval forests were common across North America until relatively recently. So it wasn't necessarily a glimpse into prehistory; perhaps just a few years back.

    What a puzzling experience. I wonder if they had been transported to the time of the Black Death or similar plague? That might explain the emptiness with no sign of life and old ox meat. But the decoy-like ducks are especially strange; I haven't the foggiest notion about that.

    • @CordellPotts
      @CordellPotts 22 дня назад +5

      Why are the ducks so strange?
      It's not insane to think that a medieval village might have hunted for ducks.
      Decoys have been used since the beginning of hunting.

      @@CordellPotts Ha! Good point! Medieval decoys.😊

    • @Flibbles
      @Flibbles 22 дня назад +3

      Unlikely to be medieval as meat was precious and would not hang about to be covered in cobwebs, also the shops had shutters in those days not glass windows.

    • @michaelearendil6843
      @michaelearendil6843 22 дня назад +2

      @@Flibbles What era might be a better match? When did meat become more available? 19th century? But then why would the ox meat be bad?

    • @Flibbles
      @Flibbles 22 дня назад +5

      @@michaelearendil6843 Unsalted meat exposed to the air would take on a shimmery sort of greenish hue (there is a technical name for it, but it escapes me at the mo). This did not mean it was bad to eat (sniff test essential). Most people in the countryside would have a pig and some chickens for meat and eggs, beef required more land so bigger farmers had small herds of beef for selling at smithfeild market and the local butchers. Oxen were beasts of burden, used to pull the plough and the oxcarts and unlike horses you would then be able eat the ox at the end of it's service.

  • @kingfarmer1010
    @kingfarmer1010 20 дней назад

    The first story was extensively researched thanks to Britain’s longstanding habit of keeping careful records of literally everything. The butcher shop still exists and today in a historic inn (it was a butcher shop centuries ago). Researchers were able to pinpoint the exact time period the soldiers encountered and it would have been so desolate due to Black Death having completely ravaged the village.

    Time is only linear in the context of us living our lives from birth to death. In the greater scheme of things time as we know it doesn’t exist. I suspect these experiences happen when someone manages to walk through a wormhole.

    • @aninewforest
      @aninewforest 11 дней назад +3

      Yes. People tend to think of wormholes existing out in space but they are theoretically possible anywhere, as are black holes.
