I returned last month after completing the Camino Frances. I heard a lot of pilgrims talking about bypassing the Meseta, fearful that it would be too difficult. I did it and I loved it! It was one of the most beautiful parts of the Camino.
One of the best days on my Camino was walking the Meseta starting at 3am, under the clear sky and a billion stars. Definitely something you should not skip. It’s a big part of the psychological journey.
Go in May and early of June, it's great there! All the green wheat in the wind like waves on the ocean, the poppies beside the trail. Peaceful and calm. I loved it.
I walked last year through the Meseta peak summer season. There were some rest areas and small coffee containers, but I think they only opened around 7 or 8 in the morning. Since I started walking at 5 am, I didn't get to use those places. Every day, the morning on the Camino was beautiful, and it allowed for self-reflection during those 17 kilometers. I recommend walking the route; one should not be afraid and should embrace it.
The Meseta was like an exchange for me. Tomorrow I walk to Sarria & this week is mucho sol but last week & a bit when I was on the Meseta it was mild weather. The Meseta generated memories I forgot I had. Even seeing a pea plant made an interesting change! I also realised how important trees are, their shade is most welcome. Awesome video 💚
I enjoyed the Meseta. It was physically less demanding and in the Spring the green was refreshing. It is not flat, at all, it is undulating. It was like a recharge for me between the harder stretches. There was a time when water could be a problem but I never found it so, the number of outlets seem to increase year on year. The thing is to drink every chance you get, try to preserve your carried supply, check the stage daily - there is one rather long one. To be fair, I would not try it in the summer, I walked across in May.
I haven't started my first Camino yet but also feel I'm already living the camino way... The Meseta for me will be an incredible spiritual journey into depth of me... Can't wait. Today is week six end of 12 and trained 20km🎉. Thanks guys❤️🕯️☮️
1:23 It sounds like when I practiced for my Camino while walking in Central Florida 😉 30 celsius and humid. Still, I am glad I got to practice for a week before doing the real thing 🙏
@@caminotellers Fantastic! Life is beautiful. Thank you :) Planning a Camino Ingles in the Fall 😄 Thank You for keeping the channel going and all the advice.
For those coming from the USA, Gatorade brand is not available, the Spanish equivalent is called Aquarius (made by Coca Cola) and it is widely available in towns in Spain (and Portugal for those doing the Portuguese Camino). I remember being in Ponte de Lima and having a shop owner looking at me funny while I was asking for “Bebidas esportivas 😂” just say “Aquarius” and they’ll know what you mean. Buen Camino!
It’s unskippable, in fact I would recommend keep turning around and changing directions to do it again and again. 😂 Saying that, I’m glad I’m not doing it today…I’m struggling a bit with the heat today. Great video again. ❤😊
Hello Maria. This week we will receive the final proof copy with the completed interior and we can show it to you all. If you fill the journal form in the description of the video you will receive an email as soon as it is available and you will also see some samples of the interior 😊
Ok the meseta is not hell. There is a bar in Población de Campos and also in Revenga de Campos. And I’m guessing in the other small villages too. People need to stop just taking the train from Frómista to Leon. I bought a house in Población de Campos and trust me it’s not hot all the time! It can get freezing cold and super rainy too. But suit yourself. The Way is Your Way!

I loved walking Meseta. I walked early in the morning in October and it was great.
Weclome to "Meseta Club"!
The meseta was amazing. I walked it alone and the hours I was alone in person and with my thoughts was perfect. Unforgettable.

agree, summer on the.Meseta is unnecessary effort ...
The Camino is a beautiful walk and the Meseta has always been gracious to us. We are in Carrion tonight and love this village. ❤
We are really near then, we could bump into each other if we are lucky enough 🥰 when are you planning to get to Santiago?
@@caminotellers we’ll walk into Santiago on July 15
How about you?
Awwhh☺Thanks for the honourable mention!☺Life can be like the 'Meseta' ... it is there for us to navigate and embrace the wholeness of its presence.
it's our pleasure! hugsss
Excited for this part of the journey in my upcoming Camino later this month
It is a special part, not to be missed!
Another great and informative video!

The only thing to fear is fear itself.
Wise words!
@@caminotellers A quote from Franklin D. Roosevelt, an old American president!
Hi Ricky and Erica, which is the most comfortable month to walk the Meseta?
apart of late June, all july and early August, it should be too hot! but you never know with the weather and thhis global warming thing!
The Meseta is the best part...
Yep…
Hmm I did not know I walked meseta until I started to read about it 😂…so my only tip is do not read or fret about meseta…
hahaha, sometimes is better not to know!
Couple of long days in the sun on the flats.
That’s a long story short! You just summarised the video in 10 words
@@caminotellers Thanks man! Now I feel like Hemingway ;-)
50° nooo, 35-40 como mucho 😎
Hahaha solo 40”
@@caminotellers Te habla un natural de Valladolid 😆😆😆. -10 en invierno... ...habitual. +40 en verano... ...muy raro.

We are in love with meseta, for various reasons! There is no good reason to skip it.
How many km is this stretch
From after Burgos to Leon… it’s more dry in the middle.
My music will be a good start
What music?
Can you night hike the besets?
you can... but its not common! early morning is the best time
Loved The Meseta. But afraid of wild pigs.
Wild pilgrims are more common then wild pigs in these regions ;)
I was told that only mad dogs and Englishmen walked the Meseta in the summer
we've been advised that July is particularly hot and August is already better as the days are shorter...
I would definitely get a "WHITE" umbrella...not black
Industrial farming destroyed the landscape so no more trees, small bush .. .... This will become a desert one day😢.
Mmmm
