I carry a Colt Stainless 1911 nearly every day. I have 3 CMC RPM mags which are fully loaded all the time. The only time they are emptied is at the range where I fire all the carry ammo (Remington 185 Gr. Golden Sabre), fire some 230 ball and reload with fresh 185 Golden Sabre. In 2 years, not one failure.
As I undestand it, the ~170mm maximum length rule for magazines in USPSA was inspired by the length of 11rd magazines for the M1911, which used to be common prior to 1994. Fred Craig even briefly offered these modified to hold 12rd of .45 ACP. However, even though the 1994 law has long expired, no one seems interested in offering 170mm length magazines anymore for single-stack M1911. Even though it wouldn't be competitive in USPSA, you'd think there'd be some sort of market for a 11-12rd .45, 12-13rd 10mm, or 13-14rd 9mm/.38 Super magazine.
8 Rounds is fine, doesn't stick out too bad with a guard on, very reliable. And you're not gonna carry these magazines that extend that far. Love Wilson and cmc but I'll stick with springfield, lots of magazines are picky with ammo but these springfields seem to seed anything I throw at it!

Good luck with that now that Biden is president.
I found Wilson-combat 10rnd mags for $35. They were the first 1911 mags I bought.
Damn where?
Great review sir! Added knowledge to me regarding the railed 10 power mags of chip McCormick over the and the old 10 power mags. Thank you sir!

I'm surprised you don't talk about the Tripp Research Cobra magazines.
Thanks for the great run down of 1911 mag updates! Please continue giving more on the industries updates for the 1911 models.
I'm pretty sure the 44 mag, 460 Rowland, and many others have more "stopping" power.
where's my cobra mags?
I pick the 10mm over the 45ACP for stopping power.
Slide lock stuck open. From the CHIP. Never even been used. Heard the plus version will work. But do I pay another $40 to see?

Just get a Para and be done with it :)
How is ProMags quality?
The suck if they are extended, I'd go only with standard capacity with ProMag
Does anyone make a 10mm mag with a full wrap around base pad?
Where are the coments??
Can I use those mags with my Springfield Operator OD?
Can't use it in Virginia come Jan 2020 . I you have it You have to turn it in to the police .

He's not wrong...
Hows the glock doing?
Look up ballistics tests, genius. You have proof everywhere. And yet, you still can't even look it up. That's the definition of "stupid".
