    You mentioned to me Your RES glider so I wanted to see it. OMG this is a fantastic flight video. This glider can catch thermals easily, and the pilot is skillful. Nice save from 14m high! Well done! I like the flying diagram under Your videos.

    Excellent flying, and footage! Glad to see there are still some traditional soaring purists out there! I like the high start use as well!

      Thanks. Yes a motor is less effort but more complexity with ESC and bigger batteries. I too love the purist aspect of thermal flying without a motor. The feeling of hooking up a thermal at low level never gets old.

    Very nice footage.
    How do you put that height log on your screen ?

      I took OpenTX Companion altitude graph and used video editing software to slowly reveal it. Quite clunky which is why I don't often do it.

    That on screen graph is so awesome. Do any of these RES kits stand out from the others? Planning on ordering one before too long.

    • @CirrusRC
      @CirrusRC  2 года назад

      thanks. There isn't really much difference in performance. More down to pilot skill. Some kits are easier to build than others. PuRES V2 is supposed to be easiest to build. The Purito is very highly regarded and probably what I'd go for - fat wing for float but still has penetration. I also love my X-RES.

    Do you trim to fly in those circles hands-off?

    • @CirrusRC
      @CirrusRC  3 года назад +2

      The tighter you turn the more the model will want to drop the nose, you need to use elevator to keep the nose up, but not so much that you cause a stall. In light wind and smooth thermals high up, you can initiate the turns and just let the model ride the thermal with limited inputs. Dihedral will always try and center the wings and keep the model more stable compared to say a DLG which needs a lot more user input. In answer to your question, in the video I am actively flying the model (not hands off), feeding in rudder and elevator to stay in the lift.
