Stradella Bass Accordion:

In this video, I demonstrate the chords that I use to play the song "Pure Imagination" (Bricusse/Newley, 1971). I use Five-Finger Stradella-Bass Technique, a fingering system created by the late Clarence Edgar Roberts (1906-1983).
Please NOTE the following:
DEGREE OF DIFFICULTY: This version is an easy version, placing emphasis on the use of the LEFT hand. I don't feel qualified to teach the higher levels of use of the "right" hand.
KEY: I do NOT play in the key that is used in the original version-the key of “Db.” For this demonstration, I use the key of “F” because (1) it allows me to keep the base of my hand close to the middle of the Stradella bass machine; (2) it greatly reduces the number of “sharps” and “flats” that I would encounter had I used the key of “Db”; and (3) it allows me to play the melody staying mostly in the octave of C4 to C5. Played in the key of F, we could, arguably, say that this is a "beginner's" version.
CHORDS: The chords demonstrated are NOT the very same chords used in the original version, but they are close enough to make the song playable on the accordion.
