I am an audiophile and have Senns HD800s, Fostex TR-X00, Aeon flow closed, Hifiman Sundaras, HD 600 among others and I just keep going back to my Nighthawk Carbons when I just wanna enjoy my music since these are so musical and fun, dark but still detailed and clear, and man, that awesome extended bass!. They´re so unique and special they WILL never ever leave my cans collection for sure. ´Nuff said.
I love these, I own a lot of headphones, they are so different while still being good! If I am ever bored with my music, I listen to it with my nighthawks 🎈
@Victor Host Yeah they just have away about them. I personally prefer the NightOwl Carbon but the NightHawk Carbon is no slouch. I am glad you enjoy them.
@@TheHonestAudiophile Hey man that's the fun with this hoppy, we have different ears. We like different things. Still liked your video! Keep it up! And a question. Hifiman edition xx, from drop yes or no?

Got a pair of these last week. Sounded muffled to begin with. Have left them playing the last few days for 12 hour stretches. They are definitely getting clearer. I find the velour pads are best.
I like these especially for classical music. Baroque music sounds gorgeous. Arguably a bit too thick and congested for really big orchestral works, like a Mahler or Bruckner symphony, but stil pretty excellent. I get what you mention about the small bump in the low treble (around 3-4K), this is noticeable to me because it is in contrast with the pretty big 1k dip. But it luckily never results in 'ringing', maybe because I use the suede pads? The Sennheiser HD650 have a bigger peak around 4K and I don't get any ringing with them as well. I like the Hawks better than the NightOwls. The Owls probably are technically better, more evenly balanced, but those I find slightly more peaky in the highs and they have less bloom in their sound.
Thanks for your review, I have some questions regarding the nighthawlk ! Do you know why the drastic price drop on these headphones from $750 , now only $250 on Amazon! Is a audio quest discontinuing their headphones! I am also considering the meze 99 classics! Which is the better of. The two?
@David Melnick Audioquest has discontinued the Nighthawk and NightOwl. I haven't heard the Meze 99 Classic so I am unable to offer a comparison. Sorry.
@@TheHonestAudiophile Thanks for the reply! Been Doing u tube videos reviews on both headphones! Both have the boost in bass and midrange with rolled off treble! Both have great carting cases! The only thing that bothhers me is Audio quest gargin and high price cables! I owned some of their cables but feel I didn't get my bang for the buck as they promised to deliver! Both headphones have the same suspension and are li comfortable! The meze weighs a little bit over 8 ounces , while the audio quest is over only 12 ounces! The earpads look deeper on the audio quest which may make them more comfortable! If I purchase the meze 's I'll probably get the campfire audio pads with sheepskin to get the proper fit! @@davidmelnick2911 Sounds like a good plan. I recommend the Sennheiser HD600 as my favorite sub $300 headphone. Pros for the NightHawks - comfort, build quality, larger soundstage, more bass impact Pros for the HD600 - Cleaner mids, more controlled treble, better detail retrieval, precise imaging, natural timbre Cons for the NightHawks - boomy bass, treble lacks control at time Cons for the HD600 - tight clamp, bass light, small soundstage I prefer the HD600, they sound more natural, intimate, forward mids, amazing detail retrieval and spot on imaging.

Electronic music sounds artificial. That is because it is artificial. So these headphones reveal the true nature of the source material?.
These are not critical listening cans but you will be able to hear differences in recordings, sources and instruments used.
