The Power of Allyship Part II: The Impact of Donation & Transplantation in the LGTBQ+ Community

Respecting and appropriately addressing one’s identity as an individual is a critical part of delivering effective and compassionate patient care. In this session, we will have an open discussion of our understanding of gender and any personal biases we may have as a result of the heteronormative society we live in. Our presenters will offer insight into the significance of allyship as it relates to supporting patients and families within the LGBTQ+ community. During the discussion, we will delve into the gender transition journey and offer ways to navigate one’s gender identity to appropriately honor their wishes, while balancing the wishes of their loved ones.
