That’s why I’ll always love Emin3m’s tracks because he’ll always rap with a story and he always gives off that vibe of the West Coast even though he is from Detroit

This song is the Lead Single for the 2003 movie “8 Mile” and the movies soundtrack made by Eminem as well. If you watch the movie you’ll see that the first verse pretty much sums up Eminem’s character and the whole plot of the movie.
Eminem wrote this whole song on set during the movies production
This was Eminem’s first No.1 hit in the US. According to the Guinness Book of World Records, this was the “Longest Running Single at Number One for a Rap Song" at 23 weeks.
It won the Academy Award for “Best Original Song” for a Motion Picture (movie), making it and Eminem the first and only Hip Hop song and Rapper to receive this award.
Though winning the nomination, Em never showed up to receive the award. The cause of his absence was because he felt like he would never have won in the first place and because at the time he stayed home fell asleep watching cartoons with his daughter Hailie. This was also the first time that the winner of the award didn’t show or perform.

Happy to see you react to Em. He is amazing. He indeed is one of the fastest rappers but he is way more than that. His writing skills, flows and rhyme as out of thia world. He can also tell stories like no one else. It is a bit hard to fully understand him when english is not your main language but if you listen multiple time and watch his stories you will see that he pours his out into every song.
I was like 9 years old when my older sister and brothers let me watch 8 Mile with them. I always remember this song playing on the radio and from my sibling's CDs lol. Good times.

Your comprehension of sung/rapped English is very good! I assume that the video you are watching has no captions (because the one next to you in the video we see has no captions), and you don't pause and rewind the video a lot. English is my first and only language and I still sometimes have problems understanding certain words when they are sung or even whole phrases when they are rapped. Your ability to grasp what is being said in the moment is pretty impressive!

“Old School” Eminem was really good at being able to tell stories through his music. Another song by him that stands out to me as one that tells a good story would be “When I’m gone” by Eminem, you should definitely check it out!

My homeboy from Detroit! I've been to the trailer park he grew up in and it's a BAD area! 8 mile is the dividing line in Detroit, the most segregated city in America. North of 8 mile are the mostly white suburbs and south is mostly black Detroit.

Even though I was only born in 2000, I think Eminem's music is the best, because in his songs he mostly brings a story or message to the fans. When I was 4, I listened to his music with my father, but couldn't understand what he was singing because I only knew German. But since a couple of years when I started learning English, everything I hear from him makes sense. He IS the Rap Master/God for me :)

8-Mile is indeed the movie. Backstory on 8 Mile itself: It's a major road that marks the northern edge of the city limits of Detroit, Michigan and over time has essentially marked the line between the more impoverished city and the wealthier suburbs. Physical and cultural divide of sorts. Eminem hails from the city of Detroit and a good portion of his music is him telling his life story and stories of others that were brought up in similar circumstances.

A good Russian rapper is “Miyagi”, Russians listen to a lot of western music but even the younger generations still like folk music, also they have a good band from the 80’s soviet era called “Kino/Кино”.

Have you ever heard of Анастаси́я Влади́мировна Слане́вская/Сла́ва? I was intrigued when I heard the song (I think it was Одиночество - "Loneliness"?). I first saw it sometime in 2010/2011(maybe not?) on an MTV beach party show with other Russian artists. I like Наргиз Пулатовна Закирова (Nargiz) and Дария "нуки" Ставрович (Daria "Nookie"). It was fun to watch the latter two on the Russian Voice.
