  • The chimneys are getting swept, the house fuses popping from one too many plugs in the living room outlet, and that special lamp is displayed for the whole street to see. Stacey celebrates the podcast’s 100th episode and shares some of his favorite gearhead Christmas memories. Then he looks ahead to all the great projects he has in store for 2024.

I had a .049 car in the 60's, that ran in a straight line. My mother was at work, it was snowing outside. So I tied the string in a Y between the tv legs with the other end across the house in the kitchen. Man that thing left the best burn out marks on the floor. How cool! Mom came home, the house was full of smoke. Funny how I could never get it to run again.

Man the memories of hot wheels Cox .049 planes that used kite string! I was a full on junky for speed of cars, dirt bikes and eventually real cars. Pogo sticks and uni-cycles and skateboard with the clay wheels. I grew up in San Diego, Ca. Loved growing up there. Lived there all my life until Newsom ruined the state. In TX now. Merry Christmas to you all.

Hotwheels and Legos for sure and all the car shows and monster truck shows back in the 80s pretty much solidified it. But the one that stands out is back in 1992 when Dad took me out to Ohio for the RC monster truck world finals, which I didn't stand a chance being a kid in junior high racing guys older than my dad with four trucks. But way back in 92 there were guys with pulling trucks with 20+ C cell nicad batteries that could yank a Chevy S10.

Growing up in the 60s and 70s I had those cool toys. I never was into GI Joe but did have an awesome Johnny Lighting race track set . My cousin gave me a ,049 plane made of balsa and tissue paper and although I didn’t get to fly it much I did get to rebuild it a couple of times if you you know what I mean. Your stories brought back memories from my childhood. Thank you! I exited to see more of your tow truck in the future. Merry Christmas 🎄

My mom bought me a little ride on tractor when I was like 4 years old. It was unique and haven't been able to figure out who made it. Its long gone unfortunately. You could remove the spark plugs and wires. Ithink it came with tools. Then she bought me a Rivitron kit around 6 years old. A plastic version of the erector set. I played with those for almost 10 years till the rubber rivits had holes in them. I had lots of hot wheels too. In the 7th or 8th grade i finally convinced her to buy me a RC grasshopper. That supercharged my hotrod fascination. Had to go faster and faster. Bigger motors and two batteries. I had to replace broken pieces due to crashes. Lol.
