I think you described this very well. though we don't have the same visual "issue" we share some of the same "problems." I can really relate to the sign language, I am really struggling in my ASL class in college. I am sure my classmates think I am stupid. I don't want to tell them I am legally blind I am afraid they will reject me. Like I don't have any business in there class just because it is harder for me.
Cayla with a C well of course I understand in fact I like people here Bishea impaired and blind because I think that they have a story to tell just as say the likes of a sighted person and I think that you know just because your Bishea impaired or blind doesn't mean you're pathetic doesn't mean you're a loser and it doesn't mean that you're useless you have just as much skill as a sighted person would have as much school
Cayla you did an outstanding explanation of how you see and don't see. The saying goes my eyes play tricks on me. But, like you say it's the brain playing tricks! My vision is very similar to yours as you describe it. Everyday is different it all depends on the right angle light perception contrast etc etc. Wonderful video you explained a very complicated range of vision that we all have. It all made sense to me. Empathy it's a very powerful thing! Knowing and understanding the exact same thing that someone else is going through just like what you're going through! Thanks for making this video and your Channel!
Paul's Blind Soup for the Soul thank you so much! I’m glad you can relate. This video was pretty hard to make because like you said it’s a very complicated thing, so it was difficult to explain. And I agree that empathy and having someone to relate to is so important. I started feeling so much better about myself and my disability when I started watching other blind RUclipsrs. Thanks so much for watching and commenting
sorry to be offtopic but does anyone know of a method to log back into an instagram account? I was dumb forgot the login password. I would love any assistance you can give me!
Great video. I'm the same with the details. I have, however, seen the craters on the moon (or at least I think I have!) Most often it's a ball of light as you describe. I've been lucky to see a few stars as well. I have issues when I drop something on the carpet. Especially if it's a carpet in a lobby or office with a pattern. I also run over all of the wet floor signs if no one is around to warn me about them.
Oh the time honored how many fingers am I holding up question. You would think it would get old by now but apparently not. That if people never seem to tired of asking it.
This seems to be a really hard concept for people to grasp. They have a hard time understanding why I can’t see a picture but when they tell me what it is then I can see it
You explain it very well. I have a lot of your symptoms, am waiting on an appointment. Youre spot on with contrast and your brain filling in your vision with memories. It's like you explained my symptoms . Do you get anxious?. I am having sleepless nights about losing all my vision suddenly or soon.
No problem :). Yes, it's very hard.im watching your other videos now. You explain it well and you seem very relaxed and accepting of the condition, wish I was like that. Is it true that the disease is gradual and progresses over years ? . I'm worried about a massive loss suddenly :(.
Kieron McCluskey I believe everyone’s progresses at a different pace, but it is usually very gradual. I’m not a doctor, but I think a massive sudden loss is very unlikely
I literally lost my mission overnight is overnight I had a surgery to preserve my eyesight and it ended up being worse than when it started it's been over a year and it was only supposed to last for 8 weeks And doing this while going through chemotherapy during a pandemic as well I clearly had no way of going to seek help from the society toward the blind I've been learning on my own Listening to blind youtubers to help me out

Fascinating. I enjoyed hearing your perspective. Also, this gave some insight into why my visual memory may be impaired compared to others. I have 20/10 vision in both eyes, beyond 20/20. I wonder if the opposite is occurring between my eyes/brain connection. Maybe my visual memory has slacked, due to such clear eyesight, or perhaps the opposite, maybe my eyes are picking up the slack for my impaired visual memory center.
@UCkJ2ZbgyyYCOhrApkIEzSHQDo you live in a city or an area with a lot of artificial light? I'm wondering if that's the reason why I can't see the craters either. My vision is pretty bad but it's mostly correctable with glasses so I don't think that's the problem.
One year on the Fourth Of July I was outside with my mom and my brother Jacob, my brother saw something in the dark and when my mom saw it, it was a raccoon. My mom freaked out and started screaming get inside, get inside, get inside. It was the scariest thing I think I’d ever seen.
Wait... sighted people can see craters in the moon!?is the moon that close or are the craters that big? Ive never seen that even with binoculars. That's amazing. Oh my gosh, the fingers test. The worst! I love how you're able to explain such a complicated concept. Memory is a major player for me and I didnt realize for the longest time. If I look at a chair I can see that it's there but I only know it's a chair because I've already seen in with contacts in.
Shauna Light & Dark i’m not sure if it’s because the craters are big or if the moon is close. I had no idea that sighted people could see that until a few months ago. And apparently when people say “the man in the moon“ they are referring to the craters in the moon that apparently look like a face. I never knew that either, and never really thought about it when people said that
