My father and I used to play brood war together, when StarCraft 2 came out we stood outside fry’s together to get 2 copies. I’m terrible at this game but I’m addicted to watching these games these guys are truly cracked out of their minds

The fight at 5:49 is what makes Terran so frustrating for me, as a Zerg, to play against. You've got a decent number of stuff, your army is more expensive than the Terran blob, you're coming in from two angles, your queens are assisting, your upgrades are even, the initial parts of the engagement is on creep. There's 14 supply of banelings, 12 supply of queens, 20 supply of lings (46 total) vs 52 supply of of marine/medivac/tank and a singular hellbat.
Thats an army more expensive for the Zerg, starting on creep,
And despite all of this, you get called "Target Practice" and get wiped so incredibly one-sidedly that you might as well not have had an army at all. I am not going to call it "imbalanced" because, I don't inherently think it is. If Dark had his runby lings there, the fight might've gone onesidedly in the opposite direction.
Where it pisses me off, is that if Zerg has one engagement like this, there's nothing you can do. Game ends. Even before the 20 supply of reinforcements for Terran shows up.
If Terran on the other hand is being overwhelmed, medivacs just picks up as much as possible, you fly home, and you continue the game pushing when 2/2 kicks in.
I don't think it is imbalanced, but I do think it, from a gameplay perspective, is incredibly frustrating.
1. Serral would've probably deflected this push, not sure how, but that's definitely possible

No, its imbalanced. The fact that you have to have 30% more bases than a terran just to be on even footing is just ridiculous.
He moved a tonne of banes off creep with not enough support which was not ideal. Also trying to compare costs of armies is ignoring the big picture. Lower level players (below top Masters) tend to only see engagements and not understand build timings and/or small interactions that lead up to it. He was not on equal upgrades earlier and if he doesn't take better fights it all contributes to a later downfall.
It works both ways. At pro level Terran is in a strong position Vs Zerg right now but has not been for very long so not IMBA. If they stay strong for like 3-4 months it would be & Blizzard might consider reverting one of the bane nerfs, maybe buff Viper speed to help out the late game.
@@timshady7099Wrong point, Zerg can take multiple base way faster than terran and protoss, and for less investment. Zergs ALWAYS need at least one more base than their opponents. It's in their core gameplay. They need more army supply (cheaper army) and can remax in a blink of an eye.
@@Twiixq Sorry but I dont feel like its an advantage that Zerg is required to take more bases to be on even footing with Terran. I would much rather sit on a single base and pump army instead of droning.

Doesn't make sense to me how Terran can keep up with a 3 base Zerg in terms of expansion speed; nearly have the same worker count (plus mules) while harassing the whole time. And on top of it, they clearly have the better late game balance.
Zerg is pretty much forced to build extra queens to not immediately die, and it puts them behind.
Yes, they pigeonholed Zerg into having to build a ton of Queens because their anti-air is atrocious. Genuinely every race is complaining about that unit, Zergs are complaining that it's too expensive and clunky while the other races are complaining that it's overpowered - because in small-scale fights it really is.
And even with Queens existing, every vs Z matchup is about exploiting Zerg's obviously pathetic anti-air. It's absolutely ridiculous to have units fly into your base and the only thing you can do is trade inefficiently, because marines inside the mineral lines completely destroy zerglings, then let them escape anyway because you don't shoot up. Pathetic race design. I cannot to this day understand why they didn't make Roaches shoot up right from the get-go and balance around that (and remove the Hydra), or make the Hydra a staple unit in the Zerg army. Brood War got it right.
Quick load a game that Dark will win easily so Winter doesn't get too depressed.

I don't understand why more people don't bait out stim like at 19:52.
If they stim you should just pull back and try to wait it out as much as possible even if it's just a second or two, especially if you have mutas that can hunt down medivacs making it harder for terran to heal.
I don't play myself but I always find it wierd that sometimes stim does the most damage and that opponents don't play around it more often.
Zerg has superior speed so pulling back is no issue especially if they are a bit away from your hatch.
Extending a fight so that marines have to stim two times and you have effective done 40% of your damage for free.
At the same time, terran is left with three options, they either go forward and push onto creep where zergs have an advantage, or they pull back and waste their health.
Terran also loses momentum if they have to stand and heal.

Really enjoying this series. Been watching the casts between Lowko and yourself and it's been great. Even dragged the wife into it. I'm excited for the next gen of RTS to take over (zerospace or stormgate?) but I have my reservations as to wether it will be as good as SC2 still is today.

@hivetech4903 only if you are above diamond. If you are normal they just die to fast and they micro the parasitic infected unit away from the clump. I want an upgrade to make hydra actually be able to fight air

Mutas hard counter Vikings lol. Also you then can't make Medivacs for your Bio so your ground army gets massively weaker & less mobile.
@@hivetech4903 you can absolutely still make Medivacs lol - what you're actually saying is that you can't fly them anywhere you want to with no fear of being shot down anymore. I don't know why you think it's normal for a race to have such poor anti-air that enemy air units can fly wherever they want.
And let's not pretend like the Zerg army doesn't get weaker when Mutas are built, they're terrible straight-up fighters and Marines eat them.
You are however right that Vikings are not good against Mutas.

It goes up by one each day. He happens to be in the 1300s right now. He started at 1000.
After the nerfs, I'm surprised the top pros even bother with banelings. They just seem like a waste of gas and lings to me 19/20 times. Have to find a way to stop the medivacs, which Zerg can't do well until later. The mutas seem great. Its about not making too many and keeping them alive as support/hunters for the main host after their harass phase is done.
I doubt it would ever happen. But I do like the muta. So would a better buff for them is to make them armored and give them plus 1 base armor? Or make their cost 75-75?
Making mutas armored would kill the entire point of AoE thor attack (since mutas are literally the only thing it's good against), and also kill one of tye few niches phoenices have (which is "can chase and shoot down mutas with ease").
Besides, make mutas too cost effective and we'll end up with a repeat of SC1, except with less tanky mutas (because they took half damage from 75% of all anti-air)

i always feels terran are unbalanced XD they have way too many things early game that zerg has to defend from, one mistake, game over.. Terran just need to spam marines medics, and a couple invisible flying units that come out 10 minutes before the zerg one.
I don't know, it just feels unbalanced, even if maybe is not.
I think you're undecided whether it's imbalanced or not because you describing _poor balance design_ instead of direct imbalance.
Basically amount of harass Terran has + the amount of skill difference required to defend vs execute this harass + how poorly Zerg can punish said harass = it feels unfair, even though it's not directly broken.
@@xIcarus227 point is, it just feel way easier to use terran than zerg , at least for me, the time you make a spire, terran jhave sent you 15 different flying usnits, same with protoss. I understand at high level play thing may be even but at low lvl is pretty much not, at least in my opinion, of course as a half noob my opinion may count zero, but its what i feel when i play against terran, and i don't have the same problem with protoss for example.
@@WastedTalent83 yes, I completely agree. Terran has tools for everything (which also tend to be quite cheap investments) whereas Z and P have to go out of their way and make certain things work.
A good example is how P uses Phoenix or Oracle openers vs T because their scouting capability is just terrible. T just uses a scan, or does a small drop.
@@xIcarus227 that's also a thing, invisible units can be countered by zerg or protoss in some way, but you just can never get terran if they are even decent players, "scans" and done, and they also have units to scan.. zerg? overlord that are super squishy, protoss? observer which at least is invisible and a bit harder to target since its small, but terran ?XD just spam command center and you have endless scans, plus as i said, having basically every single unit being long range AND being able to heal very fast or get repaired is absurd. In all videos we see of high level terran its always terran that loses less how is that balanced? unless the zerg are broken pro players XD
i dont get pro players, zergs go fopr easy ctrl-a atacks with lings/banes, why not mass 50/50 marines helbats. Helbats counter both lings/banes and they are costeffective. But im not a pro player

And Hellbats obviously get destroyed by Banelings, that's why you're not seeing them that much.
