- First time live since 2017. Enjoy! :) #DepecheMode #BlackCelebration #80s #SynthPop #Live #Music #Concert #NYC #4K #BarclaysCenter #Brooklyn #NYC #NewYorkCity
Finally drums are at full speed and this is only and one version of Black Celebration they should perform! 😀😀 intro is also an iconic and masterpiece!! Love it
Best live version in many tours. Hopefully it will be a mainstay of the 2024 European tour 🙏🏼
That's for Alan...brilliant Dave
thanks Alan for this song
I can’t remember the last time they played that song at such a fast tempo. They clearly are reading the comments about how stagnant the set list for the tour is.
In 1990
They played Black Celebration 3 times in 2017. The band had posted a photo of the keyboard programming a few days ago and several songs appeared that are ready to be played on the tour, such as: Policy of Truth, Behind The Wheel, Photographic, Don't Say You Love Me, Before We Drown, Black Celebration... So this change in the setlist was already expected.
Shame how they had to pitch it so much lower than before in order for Dave to feel comfortable singing it. Nothing new I suppose, they’ve been doing it on a lot of their songs for years.
To be honest I’m glad they’re changing it! I think we can all agree that we’d rather classics instead of John the Revelator, a pain that im used to and wrong…….
@@ids5096speak for yourself! i love that they play more recent stuff, i just wish they’d play different songs from pta/sotu and some stuff from delta machine
Cool! They finally put some effort into a new version.
Did he said „thank you, that’s for Alan” at the end?
I would love if Blasphemous Rumours got played. I think it would work.
Aun así no nos olvidamos de Mr Wilder
Thank you, that´s for Alan?
Did he say „thank you, that‘s for Alan!“ at the end or did I mishear that?
I believe he did!
Sounded like it to me.
To me it sounded like he said thanks very much for that one
Pretty sure he said it. Or that was illin'. Lmao
Please bring back the drum machines, that's not a metal song...
Every time I see this performed live, I just remember Alan in the 101 documentary giving his cute demonstration of how he played Black Celebration on the keyboards. I'm just glad Dave still mentions him every now and then..
YESSSS! 🎹🙌🎃
This was the album that changed my life❤
You are probably not alone👀☻️👀
What an epic intro 🙏
i think Black Celebration it's the definition of Depeche Mode
I'll drink to that! 🖤
Drum plays way too loud imo!
no one can do it better than Mr Alan Wilder
Eigner and Gordeno are the reason I won't attend any of DM concerts anymore despite being a die-hard fan of DM for 35 years. Eigner's drumming antics completely ruining this classic.
Agreed, absolutely butchering the magic classics.
You will say that this song is almost forty years old?? I said it and I will say it again. ALAN WILDER WAS THE HEART OF DEPECHE MODE. LISTEN TO THAT!! listen to that it seemed that they recently relased that record.
Completely agree. When Alan left, the essence of DM disappeared. He just had a curiosity for sound and how to transform it.
Alan ist still Mr. Depeche Mode for me!!!!!!
I have goose bumps whe i hear this new live version Black Celebration. I love it !!! Thanks Depeche Mode ❤
Lars Ulrich on drums? That dude thinks that DM is a metal band.I wonder how Martin and Dave let him destroy their songs...Someone please,a police officer, please, arrest this guy for the damage he is doing to our ears.
This drums add so much layers to every their song.
Well thats how Martin and Dave want it. Sounds perfect to me 😊
Oh he sounds absolutely fabulous live , I personally like the heaviness he brings to the table
@@darthvlader5531absolutely
1000% agree. It just doesn't fit the songs at all.
Great version of Black Celebration 🙌
Best Intro ever
Thank you very much, Depeche Mode!! This is a GREAT change! And I am also happy for this "new coat" of this your hit of 80's:-) This is your/our anthem from your typical Depeche period-from 80's!☺👍👏❤
For you Alan!!
Great, they played that, but I can’t stand the drums! Horrible…😮
Agreed, needs the drum machine!
We used to it
Mi favorite song ❤️🔥
Goosebumps with that intro. Pure dm greatness
Самая любимая песня Депешей! фанат их с 85-го года! Привет из СССР!почитал комментарии, надо срочно вернуть Алана, любимец мой!
what a badass intro to this classic!
It is one of their most epic songs!
This version sounded amazing in person. Hope an offiical version comes out.
Amazing version, the intro was something else, I'll drink to that. Thanks for sharing, DM 4 ever 🖤
The most epic intro i have ever heard🤯🥶
Ikr??? It leads me to an prgasmmm
I’m sorry but the drums ruined the song, very annoying.
It's the first post-Alan version that Eigner didn't manage to ruin.
and this tour is good compared to the Global spirit. He really went 'all bass-pedals blazing' and random fillers back then. Lol, so sad I'll never see them live without drums.
they sound like a hard rock band covering depeche mode. thankfully i saw them in concert in the 90s.
Where have you seen a rock cover of BC of this level? Just wondering.
@@yavlennyy i'm just saying it doesn't sound great.
Saw you saw them when they actually were a hard rock band. Lol
What a great version of this track. Hope they play it for the Vegas / LA shows.
Damn!! I miss Alan!!😢
We all do well do..
The drums are so horrible .. but nice intro
THANK YOU FOR ALAN???? 05:02 WOWW
one of the best DM songs, but this version has too many drums for me
damn he still sounds so good
There's no soul in the song without Wilder. It leaves me empty. A black dececration.
Always these kind of Alan-the almighty-God-comments…sigh!
@@JohanJohansson-y5ycompare songs of faith and devotion to Ultra. The contrast is stark
@@Utzpah It sure is but in a good way. Ultra happens to be my all time favourite. Four excellent singles + masterpieces like Sister of night, The bottom line and Insight. (Songs of faith and devotion is of course very good too.)
@@JohanJohansson-y5y Ultra sounds rather sanitised/lacklustre in comparison. Wilder gave them a stadium sound
Strange how he’s a nobody since he left DM, but has all these comments saying he’s a legend
Just when I've given up all hope of ever hearing Black Celebration live, they surprised the hell out of me last Saturday. I was so emotional throughout the entire song and will be forever grateful for that experience. My absolute favorite song and album by DM. And for everyone complaining about the drumming, it was so intense in person. I don't think the recording can capture how well they hit. When they played Precious, the drumming was so powerful. I was amazed on how good that song was live. Thanks for sharing this video, I've been replaying it as I'm still high from Saturday's performance. I'm probably gonna buy last minute tickets for this Saturday's show at MSG.
Yes, I saw them many years ago, many many times and Black Celebration was my favorite concert and favorite live performance. They are an awesome band live!
Agreed! It was a stunning performance in person.. It just worked. And Martin was so engaged with the crowd for this show, it was really fun to watch. Tickets are pricey for MSG tomr but I'm still looking!
Didnt get this in Washington DC sadly. Still a awesome show
Love this song but on this live version I feel that Christian is too heavy on the drums, also they needed to turn up Daves mic a bit more.
They don't need to turn up those vocals 😬
@@Utzpahyour opinion 👍🏻
@@PeteBlack76 he's not even in tune anymore
The live drums are there to boost the energy of the song
The best live version since 101.
great version.i thing for andrew.
And the lights. OMG.
Love the intro. Even though song was transposed half note down to save Dave's voice it still sounds absolutely amazing! Visual representation is like... DM at their prime and better than ever! On FIRE!
I had a ticket for this show but had to sell it due to a family emergency. SO bummed I missed this song! But at least I saw them back in April at MSG! Thanks for recording this!
One of my faves. Shout out to my best friend Tony, who introduced me to their music almost 40 years ago!
Thanks a lot Dave and Mart. I feel good to hear Black celebration the first time in the M-m tour. happy to hear next year the song again in Paris
Why “That’s for Alan”? Was he there that night? 🤔
I think this is the best piece of music they've ever performed...live or studio recording. That intro is possibly the most epic thing I've ever heard!
“Thank you that was for Alan” I’m sobbing
Dave sounds great!
Thanks for sharing. What a great live version.
Ja pier..le co za wersja!!!!!
Co nie! Genialnie brzmi.
See You next time 2024
Thank you for recording!
The Depeche Mode theme song.
Finally in the original tempo again!!! Yesss!! Great version!!
This version is INCREDIBLE!!! Hope it becomes a mainstay...
anyone else bummed out by the live drumming of the classics? Less danceable and really loses the charm of the original recordings.
I know. You can hardly hear the synths since the drummer arrived either.
The over-done drumming is ruining these classic songs, he's butchered this one.
The over-done drumming is ruining these classic songs, he's butchered this one.
Yep the drumming kills it
Also very ashamed that it took me 35 years to understand that the voice sample is ‘A brief period of rejoicing’ and not ‘long vehicle now reversing’
Now I want to go again soon to hear Black Celebration and Strangelove!
101 version with real drum. Awesome
Such a banger version too, wow!
Yes Alan!
We flew all the way from NZ for this gig and boy was as it worth it! Brilliant set list and such a treat to see Black Celebration and Policy of Truth being played by the boys as my brother who saw them at Twickenham and Stade de France said both tracks were a 1st time on this tour. Just a brilliant gig. Wish we could have stayed in NY longer to see them again at MSG. Just Fantastic. Europe and North America dont realise how lucky they are....
Those drums are just terrible. I love depeche but why are they letting Eigner ruin such a great song. I'm all for the live drumming on most of their tunes but it needs to be done with a bit more thought and restraint, not just smash the crap out of the kit.
My #1 DM song! 🎧
❤
Finally. ❤👍🎶dM
Beautiful rendition! Love it. Thank you for posting.
Fucking finally!
Ma tu lo sai che ogni volta che sento questa canzone, il mio cuore fa quello che vuole??
My fav DM song, but for sure not this DUM-DUMDUM-DUM-DUMDUM version. They really need to bring back drum machines or replace the drummer with someone more pop-ish and single bass pedal. Eigner really doesn't fit and those who saw them post-Ultra sadly like you never saw them live.
And more older songs. It was amazing when 2 tours ago they did "Fly on the windscreen"
yah if only we can get Mr Wilder back!!!!
Bravo DEPECHE MODE
What a version....thanks to smshn pmpkn for sharing that, and thanks to DM for existing, and of course Mr Wilder for his genius.
Kick out Eigner and use a drum machine. The epileptic octopus still thinks he plays for Metallica and ruins nearly all songs...
i think most people disagree.
@@joeberry411 he's right, live drums are SO BAAAAAD here! Just whyyyyy?
okay that's straight up mean. Eigner is pretty cool ngl
@@eraserreal He is good indeed. I would keep him for 1993+ songs live :D but the old ones - no, no, no
The epileptic octopus, fn hilarious. I think the mixing desk team could have boosted more of the synth hooks that are in the track to balance out the drums more but this is the 1 st time since 2017 they've played the track so maybe it will get better if it stays in consequent set lists. I was at this gig and was just happy that this was played and what an intro ....
Now the best in the world and in the time....
Thanks, was there. It was a fantastic show
to bad it's a first and last. sucks. why can't they just play this
Brutal the intro!!!
I wish they would have mixed up their sets like The Cure did. Nice!
They are not capable to that, I'm afraid. They love to play it safe.
Some cities are lucky to get Black Celebration, Policy of Truth or Martin's Strangelove solo. I wish we had those songs in Houston, smh.
Fckin brilliant intro, great bass and drums
Celebrazione nera ,grandiosa 🖤🖤🖤
No words to describe the wonder they are❤
I was there
Appreciate the change in the set list. The intro was amazing! But still, IMO Eigners drumming just overwhelms the song.
You’re absolutely right 👍 Intro is working very well but it’s still not a rock song🙉
Legends
man I knew I should have went to this one
Sounding amazing
Penso di aver ascoltato la sola intro un centinaio di volte da ieri...che gli vuoi dire...leggendari!❤
Sounds more Epic love it!!
I like this version! intro is amazing and drums giving a modern touch. Sure its not the original, but well adapted imo.
one of the worst things DM did was to get a live drummer. I dont like the live drums at all. They dont fit into these songs and they kill everything.
Did you see it live? It comes across very different on camera imo. I've seen them twice and I thought the drums give the songs an immense energy boost... So I really liked it
@@lsure I agree with you.... I think a lot of posters are youtube fans that havent actually seen this live... and if you didnt see it live you dont know
Meravigliosa versione! Finalmente qualcosa di ' nuovo'..! 🐦🔥🐦
Эта песня, хит ,который будет хитом ещё лет 50!!!
Yeah depeche mode... sounds like punks not dead oh yeah... i rmmbr them in the soundtrack of the movie dangerously close... the song stripped that's in this album black celebration...
