【Synopsis】In ancient times, humans mixed with deities and demons, the world consisted of Shennong, Xuanyuan and Gaoxin. Wandering in Dahuang, Jiu Yao from Gaoxin lost her identity and appearance. She settled in Qingshui Town and renamed as Wen Xiaoliu. The Prince Qiang Xuan of Xuanyuan was Xiaoliu’s cousin. To find Xiaoliu, he travelled around Dahuang and came to Qingshui Town. In Qingshui Town, Xiaoliu saved Tushan Jing in danger and fell in love with him. Xiang Liu and Xiaoliu appreciated each other and became confidants. After a few twists and turns, Qiang Xuan and Xiaoliu eventually recognized each other. After recovering her identity, Xiaoliu helped Qiang Xuan bring the whole world under his rule and retired from the rivers and lakes. My sole reason for watching this as a novel reader is Xiang Liu... watching this even though I am fully ware I am about to get years worth of angst :( TJC and YZ truly carrying this show. The micro expressions are on point even if it's a short trailer. Not too exaggerated and forced nor lacking.

I'm amazed at how people can completely forget his abusive behavior. Many abusive men claim to love their partners, but it's an unhealthy form. For instance, why did he wait until the very last minute to crash her wedding? He destroyed her reputation, shamed the kingdoms of her father and brother, and caused a grudge between her and the groom.

I have waited for the drama for a whole year, hoping that Xiang Liu's ending will change and he will not die. I really hope that she will fall in love with him and that they will be together in the end. She lost her head with her feelings for TuShan Jing. She will not spare anyone to save/ resurrect TushanJing. It seems like she is gonna ask Xiang Liu to bring Jing back to life. As you remember, Xiang Liu stabbed his own heart and gave up one of his heads to bring back Xiao Yao back then. Now he's gonna do this for Tushan Jing, just for the sake of Xiao Yao.
It really hurts me to see that Xiang Liu is ready to do anything for her, even if it means unaliving himself.
And what's the worst is, in the novel, when Xiang Liu perishes in the battlefield, Xiao Yao utterly didn't care. She was like "Well, what's point for me to be sad about it, when he always wanted to die in a battle". She was that cold and went on being happy with Jing, as if nothing happened. Hopefully in the drama, she will cry for him at least for a bit. That’s all I ask, Xiao Yao. Please don’t be a b1tch, and shed a few tears for poor Xiang Liu, please 🙏

What!! In the novel, I don't remember Xiao Yao asking Xiang Liu to bring Tushan Jing back to life. She just asked him if he knew where TSJ was. XL saved TSJ on his own accord because he knew that XY wanted a companion who would never leave her.
And when XL died, she wasn't cold. She was in denial, very heartbroken, and distraught. She knew it was coming but still refused to accept his death. After that, she even told TSJ that they should head to the ocean because XL told her there's a lot of islands there, maybe they could live on one of them.
The drama might be different though. So far, drama XY has been way colder to XL compared to novel XY.

Here are my thoughts, I love Xiangliu and he is my favorite character but I agree with him pushes Xiangyao to Jing because he cannot give her a good life compare to Jing. He has lots of responsibilities and duties. He knew Xiaoyao loves him because of Couple poison bugs. Xiaoyao greatest love is Xianglui but they can't be together. Jing is Xiaoyao forever. You can love many men in this world but only ONE MAN (XIANGLUI) you can love from the soul and you can never forget this person because the love is already rooted, planted and grow as long as you are alive. This is the reason why Xianglui wants Xiangyao to forget him. When you don't experience what really love means you will never understand the love story of Xianglui and Xiaoyao.
What I realize in reality, you will meet your one greatest love but most of the time you cannot be with him/her. This is the reason we choose to love other man or find someone to fill that emptiness but even if you marry a soulmate or other man this person will remain to your heart and soul and the one you married will only filled that emptiness.

A big thanks to Tan Jianci for portraying XL so perfectly and beyond expectations. No one would do as great as he did in this drama.

I don't particularly follow any series lately, only knowing the summary is enough, but this series is different. I've watched the synopsis of both S1 & S2 twice and decided to sit down and watch the full S1 myself finally. It's worth my time.
Amongst the sea of C-series of Xian Xie/Wu Xie/Modern Time, not many root their script on realism. LFY is a different beast. Even if it's in Xian Xie genre full of magic and deities, the human element is so realistic. Their emotions, their complexities, their internal conflicts, their different values and priorities in life, up to their decisions are reflecting back on our everyday lives at the present.
Xiao Yao encounters three men; Cang Xuan who prioritizes his pursue of power as if a modern CEO who puts work before everything, Tu Shan Jing who prioritizes his love as if a young teenager/sick puppy in love who puts his heart before everything, and then Xiang Liu who priorities his duty and responsibility as if a social worker who puts integrity before everything. Each of these men loves Xiao Yao differently in their own ways. Cang Xuan loves by trying to protect [and own[ her, Tu Shan Jing loves by obeying and following her, and Xiang Liu loves by giving her what she wants without himself in her eventual picture.
Xiao Yao who has abandonment issue and has faced many hardships and loss, is convincingly wanting nothing but a peaceful life with someone to love her and never leave her. Obviously, Tu Shan Jing is the safest choice. I think Xiao Yao loves Xiang Liu the most but she is a logical person so she will never fully follow her heart.
Think about our own lives, some of us might meet someone who connects and rhymes with us to a perfect rhythm. However, with the reality of conditions surrounding, we both can't make a stable couple for marriage. So we decide to suppress our hearts and move on, finding a more sensible and stable one to make a family.

I really want Xiang Liu and Xiao Yao as the end pair but I know Tong Hwa(writer) kept the ending the same as the book. I really wish she changed it for the drama, afterall more readers are rooting for the pair because of how the love story started and the unspoken love they have for each other.
