Loved this ❤! 1. The footwork; 2. The follow through bringing the racquet to his left shoulder; 3. The preparation of his forehand - anticipating the ball and placement of the racquet - very classic !!! That's the basics and fundamentals of a forehand per my coach and I am trying to do the same . My forehand improved tremendously ! I saw him played at the US Open years back. I am a big fan ! Thanks for sharing this video.
After about 4 years of going back and forth with my forehand technique I have finally found the thing that makes my forehand as much as a club player can get close to Delpos : Let go of the racquet with your left hand and basicly prepare only using your right hand. Along that, use an eastern grip to smash those balls. Nothing better then to open up your whole body while your right arm is spread and you prepare to demolish that ball. My long arms help as well. One of the best forehands of all time Delpo, so simple and so powerful.
Beautiful eastern grip forehand from Del Potro! I don't care the semi-western or even full western forehand grip many modern tennis players use, it's the eastern grip which looks graceful!
I'm still amazed how he can get enough topspin with such an open racquet face and high take back. It doesn't look like he closes he face at all and when I experimented with his eastern grip and this take back it was hard not to launch balls to the back fence. Federer's take back makes more sense as there's an obvious closing of the racquet face and swinging low to high
yeah same here. I think his height helps, where he makes contact with the ball is higher than most people and even a few inches means a lot in net clearance advnatage

""La danse avec la raquette ""
Nouveau film signé Delpo❤
The first one is brutal
That's not a forehand....it's a hammer!
Beautiful form!

I think Juan Martin del Potro and Steffi Graf have the same forehand movement. It would be interesting to compare the two in slow motion.
