Roll20 has 200 videos tutorials and you explained all the important features in just 1 video! Amazing!!! I am really glad that i found your video. Really nice job mate! :D
Thanks so much! I totally know what you mean. When I was getting started it was the same way. They could explain individual features in great detail with all the technical terminology and coding. But there was nothing that was just "How to play your RPGs with our service".
haven't ran my campaign in over a year, get an email that i got some gift packs from old players and a ping in my discord saying "wheres our dm" so it appears i need to relearn. glad you have a more recent tutorial, some are very old and theres a lot of useful tools. appreciate your work.
This was super helpful! I was feeling a bit overwhelmed by roll20 but with playing virtually it seems the best platform for what my group needs. I was stuck at the characters part and this helped a ton! Thank you for segmenting the video too!
This is by far the best tutorial for this platform I've found. I've recently moved and so need to switch an ongoing campaign onto this online platform and really just needed exactly the this. An explanation to get me set-up and through that first session. Honestly, can't thank you enough for this.
Thanks so much that means a lot! I totally get it. I made this video in response to the lack of videos of how to actually "do the thing". They're own tutorials are very formulaic and explain how to do specifics but that's it.
Great Video. Sent it to my friends who are looking to try DMing via Roll20 for the first time. Saves me a bunch of time from teaching them the basic mechanics of the system so we can focus on trouble shooting their specific questions.
This is amazing thank you! I am a first time DM about to use roll20 and this is a life saver. So many hidden features to make the game so much better thanks! 🎉
Had no idea how to work Roll 20 before this. Thank you for the amazing tutorial! You really get right to the point and are clear about it, and I now know how to work Roll 20!
I've been playing on roll 20 for about a year now but I'm going to start my own campaign as a dm shortly. This is just what I needed to get an idea on getting started from the other side of the screen, as it were. Thank you for sharing this!
Only been a DM twice in real life so I'm really new to it, we ended up never playing after our 2nd or 3rd sessions because of Corona, I planned on learning how to use Roll20 but it always ended up being too difficult, this video really explained and made everything seem so simple to me, hopefully I'll be able to host sessions soon and learn more about Roll20, Thank you.
Thank you so much for making this. I watched another r20 guide that was a 5 part 20 min each playlist and it did not go over the map creation and token gen like you did thank you so much. The other guide just assumed i would be paying to use a module. the custom map and tokens are exactly what i needed .
My family wants to play. I've played the game before, but never DM'ed and never online. I have been tinkering on the website last few days but this answered a lot of stuff. Thank you ^~^
This is better than the tutorials from Roll20! They should hire you to develop their game instructions! Very nice, thank you! The longer I watch this video, the more excellent it is!
Oh, my Gods thank you so much for this. I have been trying to figure out Roll20 for months and in the short space of 21 minutes, you have made it so easy to figure out. My group thanks you.
I am SO glad I found you! I'm a new DM, who's very old school... meaning, all these fancy programs are confusing! Thank you for making this so easy and simplified. Just subscribed, and starting to make my way through your videos!
Thank you for making this video. It was such a headache to try and figure it out on me own until I found your video. You made everything so clear and easy to use
This is amazing, thanks. I was really struggling to work out how to upload token art and assign them to players, and this answered all of my questions in under 5 minutes. Absolutely excellent.
Thank you for this Mack. I've been playing on Roll 20 (as a player) for months now, and found that it was a little cumbersome when I DM'd a couple sessions. I think that this will help quite a bit.
First Time as DM online and with roll20. Some people told me that was not pretty and was difficult to use. With your help, I now understand that it's not roll20, its them! Looks really good and complete! Your video was really helpful and will love to see more advanced settings for a DM, maybe how do I get to upload a compendium or Character Sheet from a specific or custom game that I know! Thanks for everything, will look to see what others videos you have! Thanks for the help
This was a super helpful video, thank you so much! Trying to move from in-person DM to Roll20 is a bit difficult and I appreciate how simple you kept things.
Great video - I’ve watched this and the previous one this evening after trying to run a game on Roll20 and having all sorts of issues. Straight forward and concise - a great resource. Looking forward to what you do next 😊
Just so you know, if you rearrange your timestamps in the description so it is formatted with the timecode before the title, and add one at the top that says something like "0:00 Intro" it will add the timestamps into the actual video timeline!
Thank you so much running a lot of games right now, just cause of the pandemic, and I've been having trouble running things on Roll20 this cleared up so much!
I found a neat trick. I had a large map (giants = crazy large maps) and I couldn't get it to align the grid after out lining 3x3. So my trick goes like this. After using the align to grid tool. Scroll to the top/left side. Align the grid to a square. Scroll down/right and see if you are gaining or losing. Then right click on the map and adjust dimensions. Add/subtract a fraction of a cell (default 70 pixels) (grid is halfway out add 35 pixels) repeat a few times until it lines up to your liking, then repeat in the other direction. ... hope that makes sense.
This is way better than the old one, thanks! I'll go look if there'sany detailed video on filling the sheet in in your channel, if there isn't, think about it!
Thanks very much for this. I've been using Roll20 for about 6 months as a player, but now have to take a crash course to learn the DM spot since our current DM is having eye issues and I am needed to take over. I have played D&D/AD&D since about 1977 but mostly on paper/in person. COVID, the internet and friends living long distance has motivated us to play online. I look forward to watching all of your videos. Which editions of D&D have you played and how do you rate them?
I have a problem with roll 20, when I tried to make a party all my players would use the Draw tool to draw random lines and mess the game, how do you lock them from using Drawing features?
I haven't tried it myself, but you should be able to add in a script such as this one to disable it. app.roll20.net/forum/post/2948292/script-dryerase-updated-to-v0-dot-1-5/?pageforid=2948292#post-2948292
Been having quite a bit of a. Issue keeping the image quality on tokens when scaled down to the grid size. Anyone else having this issue? If so any tips on resolving it?
Hi Charles. I suspect that the page dimensions must be smaller than the map file. Check the cog symbol on the page settings. Make it bigger if you need to
As soon as I saw the basement, I knew you were a trustworthy source.
I am a basement dweller.
Best Video for New roll 20 DM's you video is amazing for directions!

Starting as a DM myself for the first time soon and this video is exeactly what i needed. Very clear and to the point. Thanks for the great vid!
Awesome! Good luck on your journey!
Thank you VERY much for this "ass saving" video!! I'm DMing for the first time in a few days...
I've been using Roll20 for YEARS and I JUST discovered the 3x3 align tool. Great stuff
haven't ran my campaign in over a year, get an email that i got some gift packs from old players and a ping in my discord saying "wheres our dm" so it appears i need to relearn. glad you have a more recent tutorial, some are very old and theres a lot of useful tools. appreciate your work.
holy crap - the best intro ever. thank you 100 times over
Glad it was helpful! Let me know if you need anything.
This was super helpful! I was feeling a bit overwhelmed by roll20 but with playing virtually it seems the best platform for what my group needs. I was stuck at the characters part and this helped a ton! Thank you for segmenting the video too!
Happy to help! Yes it is relatively simple to use, but there is no hand holding and the tutorials on the site are quite outdated or unhelpful.
I just watched the old version today thanks for the update!
This is by far the best tutorial for this platform I've found. I've recently moved and so need to switch an ongoing campaign onto this online platform and really just needed exactly the this.

This Tutorial is much better than the previous one. Its kind of cool to see the Differences.
I am working on transferring my game from play-by-post to real time play using Roll20. Your instructions were super clear and easy to follow. Thanks.

That's fantastic! So happy to hear that.
Best guide I've seen on youtube. Good job!
We’ve been planning to play D&D for a while now and looking at options. Your tutorial is very very helpful. Subscribing now!
Happy to help. Best of luck to you.
Thank you for making this a second time! Really helpful guide!
Perfectly paced tutorial with just the right level of content, thanks for taking the time.
Thank you so much!

I never knew about the double click to make the sheet minimize like that That will help me even as a player. Great video, thank you!
Just started using D20, watched this video at least 5 times, great teaching style, thanks for doing this!
My family wants to play. I've played the game before, but never DM'ed and never online. I have been tinkering on the website last few days but this answered a lot of stuff. Thank you ^~^

Thank you so much! Roll20 is intimidating for me as a wannabe first time DM and this really helps 💕
Oh, my Gods thank you so much for this. I have been trying to figure out Roll20 for months and in the short space of 21 minutes, you have made it so easy to figure out. My group thanks you.
You are most welcome!! Thanks for the comment.
Easy tip for adjusting stuff on the token such as hp or ac. Simply type - or + and the # and it will do that to it!
Thank you for making that. Very handy starting guide
I'm just starting to get into roll20, and this is such a lifesaver. Thank you!
Running a game for my kids 9 and 11 plus a friend and this was perfect for us to be able to play. Awesome content!
Thanks for that, I've been looking for quite some time for some simple and direct tutorial. Yours is perfect
I'm about to be a first time dm sometime in the next couple weeks and I'm glad this was out to help me learn roll20 :) most appreciated
I am SO glad I found you! I'm a new DM, who's very old school... meaning, all these fancy programs are confusing! Thank you for making this so easy and simplified. Just subscribed, and starting to make my way through your videos!
This continuously is one of my go-to videos when I start up a session. Thanks so much.
First time dm on roll 20 here! Just wanted to say a massive thank you for explaining the features so well, couldn't've set up my campaign without you
Thank you for making this video. It was such a headache to try and figure it out on me own until I found your video. You made everything so clear and easy to use

Thank you for this this video was exactly what I was looking for and is making learning the system seem way less daunting
Though almost 2 years old, this was still a good crash course that answered several of my questions. Thanks!
Great guide! Reinforced what I had and taught and showed me the things I've been missing!
Haven't watched either of these yet, but I love that you've decided to update a video, seems very professional. Will watch both, like and sub.
This is much better, thank you for redoing it!
Thank you so much man, lotta roll 20 vids just assume you know what you're doing but you explained everything really well. :)
this tutorial has been super helpful thank you!
Thanks, I'm a first time dm for my friends and this saved me so hard

Thanks for the video, I've learned a lot so far with my campaign.
Glad you appreciate it!

Okay! Thank you so much! I had seen that on other videos and I was wondering how it was done.
Hmm, that didn't seem to work, maybe it has to be done from the initial upload.
@@SilverDragonAcademy You have to have the first timestamp start at 00:00
@@markqurf That worked! Thanks so much.
Thank you. This was super helpful and I'll be referencing it in the future as I get more comfortable with using Roll20.
Great tutorial. Thanks for making it.
Thank you for the great video!
I can't thank you enough for this tutorial! This was a god send!
This was suuuuper helpful, thank you!

Awesome video man. My ADHD ass needs it succinct and you nailed it👌
Glad it helped! Taught it sequentially like how I teach in school 👍
Great intro to some core concepts. I had to stop multiple times to go tweak things in my game settings!
love the touch up work from the original
Great video man, exactly what I needed to start
Thank you for creating this :)

I've played 3.5 once, Pathfinder a lot, and 5e. I've played many none D&D games as well.
Thanks mate, great vid!
Been playing a few months on R20 and wanting to move to DM'ing. Great crash course. Now to go try and break the machine...
Thanks Buddy. BIG help!
I was trying to assess how the system would work, this was great! The only thing I wish this had was some points on the fog of war and buildings.
Fog of war is coming up next. I think this week I'll put it together and upload it
Great guide. Thanks for updating.
Fine, this is much more better - but good was the other one also!
I Also know some nice "tricks" in roll20!
Thank you, you're a god send
Awesome video thank you
Really solid. Thank you.
Thanks for this. Well done.

Good work TY !!! Can you attach your own character sheet? ( A word file )
Every time I try to create a map, it cuts out/off a large portion of my map. Can someone let me know what Im doing wrong, please?

@@charlesmccall6594 No problem, let me know if it worked for you.
Compendium only works if you actually own the books via roll20 correct?
There is a basic rules version that is available for free from WotC so that is included in Roll20.
Hey uhm, when I try to drag in an item and put it in the backpack of my players' backpack it doesn't load in like yours did in the video, any help?
What item is it exactly? You might dragging the proficiency for one item instead of the item itself.
