Sabaton did a cover of Radio Tapok's "Defense of Moscow". That is Radio Tapok's original song, and not a lot of Westerners realize it.
Their cover has more views and likes. Not all of Sabatons fans even know about him :(
@@pushking7672 to be fair, the cover does sound more badass. On the other hand at least in my opinion Attack of the Dead Men cover by Radio Tapok is better then Sabaton's original.
@@user-pm3wk6lw6m I think the exact opposite, i prefer Tapok's version of Defense of moscow and i prefer Sabaton version of Attack of the dead men.
There is another interesting fact: Joakim Bröden (Sabaton singer) and Oleg Abramov (Radio Tapok singer) are friends. More than that, they were performing together once in Russia in 2020 - that was "Attack of the dead men", when Tapok was singing one part and second was singing Joakim.
Sabaton already did a cover of one of his original songs, it's called "Defence of Moscow". Also, the Japanese were fighting Soviet tanks in that video. This song is about the battles of Khalkhin Gol(1939) where the Japanese army decided to invade Mongolia, but Mongolia was a soviet ally, so the soviets sent in just over 70k troops from the Transbaikal military district to fight the Japanese. The battle ended with a Soviet victory through an encirclement. The mastermind behind the encircliment was Georgy Zhukov and he used the same tactics later on in the Battle of Stalingrad.

The song is called "Khalkin-Gol" in English. It's about a series of border battles in Mongolia early in World War II between the Japanese army in China (the Kwantung Army) and the Red Army. Those battles are where General Zhukov, the primary Soviet general on the Eastern Front, originally made his name as a commander.

My grandfather fought on Khalkhin Gol. He ended the war near Koenigsberg, now Kaliningrad. He liberated Belarus. I’ll tell the guys if you don’t know the story, I can tell you. The battle began on May 11, 1939, ended in the shameful defeat of Japan, I honestly don’t remember. Take a look at Wikipedia for yourself.

I quite like The War To End All Wars, but I agree that Heritage is excellent and I like it slightly better too.
@Lonely Strategos I've come to think it's because "Heritage" combines multiple styles, and not only power metal. There's "Manowar"-style slow metal, Sabaton, Powerwolf, Disturbed, FFDP-style groove metal, and The HU. The diversity makes it more enjoyable. It's like getting a massive collab between 4-5 bands.
He recently released his second album, "Age of Empires".

Эта песня рассказывает о первых боях Второй Мировой Войны WW II. Тогда японцы захватывали земли Китая и Монголии. Советский Союз пришёл на помощь Монголии и Китаю во исполнение союзнического договора. Эти бои были фактическим началом WW II, хотя формально она по документам началась позже.

Various fun facts about Kalkhin Gol:
--In typical Japanese fashion, they called it the "Nomonhan incident". Meanwhile, Russian and Mongolian historiography refers to it as "Battle of Kalkhin Gol"
--It was a sizeable shit show on both sides command wise, until Zhukov showed up to unfuck things on the Soviet side. The Kwantung army didnt obey orders of Japanese government, and subunit of the Kwantun army often thought that "Hej, if I win I dont need to ask for permission!", leading to rather predictable issues with logistics. You cant have bad logistics in a fight with the Russians, they will wreck you if you do.
--It started with a bunch of Manchuokans and Chinese collaborators moving into Mongolia, the Mongolians kicking them out and the collaborators calling in the Japanese overlords, resulting in the mongolians calling in the Soviets, who really wanted to have some payback for earlier setbacks against the IJA
--the japanese mobilized what was adequate for a border incident, the Soviets for a major war.
--the drubbing the Japanese got as a result made them go into Southeast Asia instead, as the Soviets werent fun to fight
--Kalkhin Gol had weird effects on the Soviet army. "WE BEAT THE CRAP OUT OF THE IJA RA RA RA"! was a thing, causing them to overlook systemic deficiencies that surfaced in the winter war and blaming these on just bad commanders, when in reality Kalkhin Gol as systemic issues being overwritten by Zhukov et al. being pretty drat good

The video uses clips from Korean movie "My Way"... the scenes are absolutely atrociously bad as they potray Kwantung army as borderline medieval savages with ancient artillery and suicide trucks... Imperial Japanese Army soldiers were pretty well trained and equipped for the era.
The story of the movie itself is very loosely inspired by life of Yang Kyoungjong - a Korean who was conscripted into Japanese army, captured by Soviets, forced into service in the Red Army and when captured during WW2 he then served in Wehrmacht - he was then captured during D-day operations by Americans.
