RIP Graham's Bradley, 11 kills and slotted by a last ditch AT squad
O7
Was stationed in Schweinfurt, Germany 87-89. which was 22km from East German border. Was in 4-4 Cav (2 Troops of Bradley M-2, 2 Troops of AH-1/OH-58s, 1 Troop of Rangers). The rest of the units around us were armor. The armor units were trained to engage the Russians at range and keep shooting and scooting backwards. They were a delaying action until the units in the states were activated and shipped over to take out the gear that was mothballed in various locations throughout Germany. Our Cav unit was tasked with flanking and the Rangers hid themselves on high ground on the avenues of approach to spot for intel.
Have you ever taken the time to look into what the Russians had planned for you? The west was leaking so much intel that they knew about our orders often before the units received them from HQ.
They would have known your exact position and had a plan to deal with you before the whistle was even blown.
Luckily nothing ever happened but your unit would probably get encircled or would have to do a hasty retreat, the idea of a Soviet offensive on Fulda was a soviet intelligence decoy to tie NATO QRF there while the 1st Guards Tank Army and 8th Guards Army pinced the V Corps.
Well, not that it would ever get to that point as the nukes would fly pretty quickly anyway.
@@grudgebearer1404 The aviation part of our Cav unit (part of HQ Troops) was to initially fall back to Geiblestadt Airfield from Schweinfurt. Not too sure what the Bradley troops nor the other Armored units were tasked with. Then we were to fall back even further south. We did this during Reforger '88. Ended up in some woods in the middle of Bavaria.
@@casssmith2002that’s extremely interesting. How long was your unit supposed to hold their positions before they fell back in the exercises?
@@gagaringaming6583 Well it being an exercise, it only lasted a couple weeks. Not sure how well the OPFOR did against us but once the exercise was over we just packed up and moved back to Conn Barracks. Fortunately for Europe, in November the following year the wall came down so no more need to simulate a Soviet invasion through the Fulda gap.
Ah yes, you've learned the lesson of Desert Storm. The Bradley eats T-55's for breakfast.
The most dangerous job under commander Vulcan is recon. 9/24 casualties at the start of the video.
13/30
as in real life. Forward observers have always suffered high casualties
My biggest problem that I've found, is the AI only uses the roads... All ya gotta do is setup to cover the main roads.
"After driving into it [artillery] the first time, the enemy probably wouldn't do it again."
2+ years of an ongoing conflict begs to differ, sir! Technical skill at a tactical level doesn't trump operational, strategic, or political objectives. :D
Yeah, there is a crossroad near Synkivka with some 50 destroyed vehicles near it xd
@@warwolf3005 da, comrade! In ze Vest, they say "if it's stupid but it works, it's not stupid". Here in ze great Russia we say "If it's stupid and it doesn't vork, just keep doing ze same thing until you run out of soldiers". That's why in WW2 Britain fought for 6 years on 4 different theatres and lost ca. 500 thousand people while Russia fought for 4 years on a single large theatre and lost 27 million people :)
@@johnnyenglish583of those 11 million were military losses, the rest were civilians murdered to create the Lebensraum.
Also, compared to Germany's 9 million military losses and considering that most of the Soviet losses were on encirclements during the first 6 months of the conflict I wouldn't say this trope works anymore.
@@johnnyenglish583 yeah famous soviet meat grinder. as we can see rusia still use same tactics
@@grozzik2232 Yes, a whole lot of pork sausage getting made these days...
Tip for identifying enemy air forces: I'm not sure what it stands for, but the IAP in the squadron name identifies enemy air superiority squadrons. They don't come with any ground attack at all other than strafing, but the AI doesn't do that.
I'm quite a big fan of using artillery on counter battery order with "show all orders" active. That way, they'll start firing the instant enemy artillery fire is detected, and the "show all orders" means that they put red lines across the map so I notice and can queue a move order for them.
Also, not sure if you noticed since it's not very clearly marked, but the 4 stack of scout infantry come with the Airborne tag, and the dismount troopers have the security trait if you want some stronger but harder to deploy recon.
Ooh, that's an interesting battle coming up.
I have noticed that rocket attack helis beat manpads fairly easily as long as they can see the manpads, they may take a hit, but the rockets will kill or suppress the manpads fast enough that they'll only get two shots, and it's quite unlikely for both shots to hit with the suppression going on. With SEAD radar AA shouldn't be a problem either, but any vehicle mounted SAMs is gonna be a challenge....
How many purple hearts do you think sgt. highway get in the end?
He's been fighting since Steel Division 1so he can probably just swim in them by now.
The fatigue got some of my ACR-battalions :( Takes some planning to rest some battalions.
Just finished my Fulda-campaign, it was a blast!
me screaming: "supply trucks dude!" at the beginning of every mission))
In case you didn't know, you can disable the automatic smart grouping for deploying multiple units in the settings.
Never clicked harder then Seeing the F-16 in the title!
Same bere
After 4 days of fighting, finally it’s time i almost won fulda gap as Nato in elite mode, my 11 acr from 20 point power to 8,almost all of my abram are gone, only 6 left @.@
Its turn 10 in my game
I got overwhelmed by turn 8 in elite difficulty, I have an overall idea what I can do better next time but damn is a lot of sweat for a PvE game
@@grudgebearer1404 well i played in 0.33x speed to micromanagement every tank i have in order for me to kill T-80UD, and mostly i trade 1 for 1, 1 m1 for 1 T-80UD
@@grudgebearer1404also i make 1 different move then Vulcan, i decide to stay inside Fulda for 1 turn and i almost got encircled, my cav regiment got minor defeat and after 2 turn of chasing i lost that regiment due to disorganized @.@
With all due respect, I really would like to see Vulcan level AI so that there is a bit of a challenge for you 😂
Love the content. Cheers from Estonia
love your channel❤
Loving the AG content!
Man, bradleys carry so hard in this campaign.
TOW 2's are nasty
Im fiending for the fourth video in this series
The Ai is very good at simulating the actual skill of the russian army
Although I think the AI in this game is not too bad and has also improved during early access, it is very sad to see that especially in Army General they just send these stupid columns of tanks and vehicles down the road. I really wish there was more tactical depth to the advancing AI, especially in the “hard” difficulty

Well that crossroads looks a lot like pictures we have seen from Ukraine, so it seams pretty realistic to me
@VulcanHDGaming I saw a unit called M728 CEV (Combat Engineer Vehicle) and I was curious as to when and how would you use this unit.
It's got a big Ole HE slinging gun so it's mostly meant (in game) to root infantry out of buildings
at the last mission you "accidentally" killed a second command (I don't know with what) but yeah huge advantage
Why did one of your ACR battalions blow up on the strategic map after the last battle? It was not maxed out on fatigue or unit losses.
They need to improve the AI
To be fair, Vulcan is extremely good at dismantling the AI in this game.
"after it happened the first time, the enemy wouldn't do that again"
Clearly not watching what russia's been doing for 2 years in ukraine.
This campaign is brutal, I don't get it how you manage to keep your losses so low on hardest difficulty!
This game is too easy for you.
Wish it was more challenging for you, you're not taking any losses just seems too unrealistic gamey.
Blame the AI being borderline braindead
@@lolifico_banzago I thought the same about Regiments, I saw him play on hard, tried playing on medium, got my arse kicked :)
@@lolifico_banzago its not the AI dude its Vulcan, man's a beast
@@johnnyenglish583beat Regiments campaign on Master difficulty, man, the AI does not disappoint there
I'm hoping that changes once we see some non-Abrams gameplay.
