    Before I even got my 2 ragdolls I was researching what the best food would be to feed a cat. I don't do anything on a whim. So I didn't get my 2 ragdolls until 2 years later. After doing my research about the pro's and cons of every type of food. I came to the conclusion to feed my cats a raw diet. Best decision I've made. After half a year my cats are still healthy and energetic.

    I started my kitten on a raw diet from when I first got her thanks to your videos, It's a high quality packaged and whilst being a little bit more expensive it's 100% worth it. Also as a side note, she's now 9 months old and 5KG! She's massive and I love her so much, thank god I found your channel or I wouldn't of gotten a ragdoll cat to begin with ❤️

    Currently we're feeding Petco's Wholehearted canned line. When we can get a freezer that can hold everything I'm planning on switching them to Viva Raw while I go down the rabbit hole of research DIY Raw entails. In the meantime, they get nibbles of any protein I can get my hands on for them to try. We also use a lot of freeze dried 'food' as treats when we're able to.
    I just wish more people took the time to personally research what is good for their cat. I remember when my mother switched from kibble to raw for the dogs when I was growing up. . .she followed the BARF model for years (and had me held with the grinding). . .I know she's on a loose DIY now using Turkey necks and Chicken Quarters. . .and her dogs have always been health beyond one freak incident with one of her Shepherds who had kidney failure. Her success (and all the evidence I've seen from others) is why I'll eventually get our kitties there.

    I feed my cats a commercial base raw food. Unfortunately one of my cats got sick recently & I was told to put him on kibble for a bit. His poor stomach didn’t like it at all. He is back on raw now & seems to be so much better.

    You truly make great videos and have done so since you got your lovely ragdolls. I do feel you help people who perhaps are unsure about feeding raw and that is a great effort! I would just like to add to feeding raw that cocking my own bone broth has been a great discovery for me and for my cats.
    It's really easy to do aswell. It can be frozen and it is greatly beneficial for keeping a balanced and healthy gut, combined with raw food. ❤ 🐈‍⬛
    By the way, your videos on how to teach a cat to become happy and relaxed around water and bathing are really exemplary! THANK YOU FOR YOUR GOOD WORK AND ALL THE BEST TO YOUR BELOVED FELINES ❤, Carin in Sweden

    Hi! Do you suggest Purina's 'Beyond Organic' wet cat food? I give my cat about 3/4 of a 3 oz can per day. I'm just wondering if he's getting enough protein. I also give 1/8 cup of kibble as i know it's not the best for him.

    • @TheCatButler
      @TheCatButler  8 месяцев назад

      took a look and it has a decent amount of protein, but has some carbs as well. In terms of meat it probably is better than purina's other products, but falls short compared to rawz. Hopes that helps!

      Nulo isn't bad at all, it's just that dry food is so bad for cats. There isn't a good reason for picking the food that doesn't contain the moisture that is vitality important for a cat's health and survival.

    • @PresKen3920
      @PresKen3920 Год назад

      Dry cat food in general is the worst thing you can feed your cat. The BEST dry cat food is always going to be inferior to the WORST wet food. And even then, any kind of balanced raw diet will ALWAYS be better than any dry or wet food. For context, let’s examine the exact cat food you mentioned.
      Firstly, dried cat food across the board loses many of its important nutrients through its multiple rounds of being cooked in extreme heats. Yes, this makes kibble easier to store and longer lasting but at what cost? Your cat will get barely any nutrients and because a HUGE portion of the nutritional content is carbohydrates, your cat will poop a lot and it will also be very smelly. This is because much of the ingredients used to make dry cat food aren’t able to be absorbed by a cat - like carbohydrates, which a cat lacks the enzyme required to break down therefore it will essentially be passed as waste, hence the frequent smelly poops.
      More specifically, the packaging of the nulo hairball management food displays the second largest ingredient used is chicken meal which has low-quality meat content as explained in this video. It’s a lot of ground down leftover pieces of meat rather than the good stuff that, say, we would eat as humans (aka human-grade quality meat which you will see advertised on some raw food products and is a good thing). Additionally, there is a high content of those nasty “filler” foods that were also mentioned in this video, specifically chickpeas and whole peas, which aren’t very nutritional to your cat and are likely carbohydrates which, as mentioned above, do nothing for your cat and leave their litter boxes very smelly. Also, taurine - a VITAL nutrient for all cats - is fairly low on the list suggesting less of it than is maybe desired, plus there are sooooo many ingredients in total which, again, suggest that there isn’t much of the necessary nutrients they need and a whole lot of extra stuff they DON’T need.
      So, what should you do to improve their diet? If you can, switch SLOWLY to a raw diet (whether that’s making it yourself at home or buying from a local pet store that sells it - and btw, most GROCERY stores do NOT sell raw food so be careful of packagaing in there). This can be a lot though so if you want to take smaller steps, simply getting them off the dry food will IMMENSELY improve your cats diet. Literally any wet cat food found in any store will essentially be better than what you are currently using. An extra tip is to look at the ingredients and guaranteed analysis of each wet food brand your local supermarket sells and try to find the best one. It’s not as good as a raw diet but is FAR better than a dry diet. Ignore the instructions on their packaging that say to supplement with dry food - most of these brands also sell dry food so of course they will encourage this but it is TERRIBLE nutritional advice, but very good advertising.
      I hope this helps :) Don’t feel bad about feeding your cat dry food in the past - most people aren’t aware of cat nutrition and many vets aren’t educated on cat nutrition either as they get a lot of their training sponsored by major cat food brands and will feed pets kibble when they stay overnight. Do your OWN research and please, now that you KNOW dry cat food is the worst thing you can feed your cat, PLEASE make the gradual change to wet food AT LEAST, or raw food if you can! Just make sure the transition to new food is done slowly and gradually otherwise it will shock your cat’s system potentially making them very sick, causing them to vomit and potentially not get any nutrients at all.
