Korngold at his greatest! This and the adventures of Robin Hood have never been surpassed! Greatness from beginning to end!

Poor, flawed mankind still dreams of nobility, perfection, but there was a time and place it came close to achieving it.
Hollywood came near to displaying it on the silver screen of old. Dreams of untarnished glory and romance wrapped in cellulous, presented for the most part early on in Black and White ...in it's heyday, unequaled in style and charm.
Every aspect of these old offerings seldom, if ever achieved in the skill of those old masters in music, writing, acting or in any level of production.
In this we have a perfect example here on full display.

One composer did a lot to establish the greatest Swashbuckler of all time in Flynn.
The Sea Hawk, and of course The Adventures of Robin Hood were scored by Korngold, and they have stood the test of time.

Film scores can be fully equivalent to classical music in terms of complexity and excellence. Korngold is the perfect case in point. Brilliant composer; his orchestral coloration is fantastic, and his use of dissonance, even in love themes, is nothing short of brilliant. I've had the honor of playing his music and it's an amazing experience.

More people can hum the score of a movie than so-called classical music. Given the volume of work and quality movie composers churn out, the old guard wouldn't be able to keep up

Korngold's entering processional (beginning at 6:12) is by far the most exquisite fanfare processional ever written (in the film, Korngold speeds this up a bit).

Strike for the Shores of Dover tempo is too slow?

QE 1st processional a tad too slow, also (at least by Korngold standards). That said, a beautifully fulsome and sonic performance. Bravi!

A masterpiece snobed by classical music amateurs.

Certainly not applicable to professional classical musicians. I played the Sea Hawk and Robin Hood multiple times with professional orchestras and almost everybody thought the music was top notch (which it is in my opinion).

Only an idiot would profess snobbery to this brilliance. Worst is the ignorance of the populace who simply hate it
