"Sozo," means to save, deliver, heal, and make whole. It emphasizes God's provision throughout history to protect and heal His people, as seen in the Scriptures where He sustains and leads them. Jesus, anointed with the Holy Spirit, demonstrated God's will for wholeness by healing the sick and oppressed, fulfilling the prophecy of Isaiah. His sacrifice on the cross provided not only forgiveness of sins but also healing for our bodies. Ways to receive healing include the laying on of hands, prayer with elders, the spiritual gifts of healing, and standing on God's promises for health and restoration.
Sozo- to save; keep safe and sound, to rescue from danger or destruction, deliver, protect, heal, preserve, do well, make whole.
He also brought them out with silver and gold, And there was none feeble among His tribes. (Psalm 105:37 NKJV)
Forty years You sustained them in the wilderness; they lacked nothing; their clothes did not wear out and their feet did not swell. (Nehemiah 9:21 NKJV)
And the LORD went before them by day in a pillar of cloud to lead the way, and by night in a pillar of fire to give them light, so as to go by day and night. (Exodus 13:21 NKJV)
Because My people have forgotten Me, They have burned incense to worthless idols. And they have caused themselves to stumble in their ways, from the ancient paths, to walk in pathways and not on a highway. (Jeremiah 18:15 NKJV)
It is God’s will to be whole in every area of our lives.
“how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him. (Acts 10:38 NKJV)
Jesus called his twelve disciples together and gave them authority to cast out evil spirits and to heal every kind of disease and illness. (Matthew 10:1 NLT)
    Healing was purchased for us.
He was despised and rejected- a man of sorrows (pain), acquainted with deepest grief (sickness)... (Isaiah 53:3NLT)
Sorrow (makob) - anguish, affliction, grief, and pain.
Grief (holi) - anxiety, calamity, disease, sickness.
...We turned our backs on him and looked the other way. He was despised, and we did not care. Yet it was our weaknesses (holi-sickness) he carried (bore); it was our sorrows (makob-pain) that weighed him down. And we thought his troubles were a punishment from God, a punishment for his own sins! But he was pierced for our rebellion, crushed for our sins. He was beaten so we could be whole. He was whipped (stripes) so we could be healed. (Isaiah 53:3-5 NLT)
He personally carried our sins in his body on the cross so that we can be dead to sin and live for what is right. By his wounds (stripes) you are healed. (1 Peter 2:24 NLT)
When evening had come, they brought to Him many who were demon-possessed. And He cast out the spirits with a word, and healed all who were sick, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Isaiah the prophet, saying:
“He Himself took our infirmities And bore our sicknesses. (Matthew 8: 16-17 NKJV)
He replied, “It is not right to take the children’s bread and toss it to the dogs.” (Matthew 15:26 NIV)
    Ways for Healing
    Laying on of Hands
And these signs will accompany those who believe: in my name they will cast out demons; they will speak in new tongues; they will pick up serpents with their hands; and if they drink any deadly poison, it will not hurt them; they will lay their hands on the sick, and they will recover.” (Mark 16:17-18 ESV)
    Call for the Elders
Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer of faith will save (sozo) the one who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven. (James 5:14-15 ESV)
    Gifts of the Spirit
To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good… to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit. (1 Cor 12:7, 9 ESV)
Standing on the Healing Promises of God
My child, pay attention to what I say. Listen carefully to my words. Don’t lose sight of them. Let them penetrate deep into your heart, for they bring life to those who find them, and healing to their whole body. (Proverbs 4:20-22 NLT)
