My therapist recommended I research schema therapy, and I have to say this is very informational and helpful. It helped me understand schemas and therapy better, and it also helped me understand myself as well. Thank you!

Can you practice Schema Therapy from a book in a program online? Everything takes years through public healthcare, has taken twelve years to just about receive medication for adhd, in Britain but have other issues that are admittedly not related to the spectrum but early experiences.

Not sure if this is still relevant for you, but there are a couple of schema therapy self-help books. One is titled “Breaking Negative Thinking Patterns”. Good luck!

How can a lay person integrate this information into personal relationships?

Natanya, I can recommend two books: (1) The Interpersonal Problems Workbook: ACT to End Painful Relationship Patterns and (2) Acceptance and Commitment Therapy for Couples: A Clinician's Guide to Using Mindfulness, Values, and Schema Awareness to Rebuild Relationships. Both books use Schema Therapy and ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy). The first book is truly for laypeople. The second book is written for therapists but I found it completely easy to follow and very helpful! I'm not a therapist.
      Kindly,
      Russell

Where does DBT fit in all of this is that schema therapy too

DBT is a useful model to learn to cope with distress and strong emotions. Schema therapy is more about resolving our underlying self-concept.

Got a complicated problem? You might get real help if you have a lot of money.

rightly or wrongly that's true for almost anything you can name. to get assistance (resources or labor from somebody else) you have to be able to compensate them for that. If there was a way for highly skilled people to get a steady income to pay their own bills without charging their clients or not charging much, that would be great.

@@watcherwlc53 there is; it's called a fair value for goods and services. Why is a doctor worth more than a farmer?
