- What's up with cars that steer from the rear? How does four-wheel steering work, and why is it useful? Allow me to show you, using the all-new Mercedes-Benz S-Class and it's wild 4WS system as a perfect example of this agility-boosting technology!
I just found this video and decided I’d sub, i thought you were some well known high sub mechanic channel or something, my mind was blown when I saw only 500 subs??? You should have over 50k with this video quality!
Mercedes was actually the first with rear wheel steering. The 1938 Mercedes Gelandewagen had it.
Wow, what an amazing simple explaination!!
Thank you❤
Nicely explained!
Thanks!
Good content… just subscribed
i always liked four wheel steering because of speed racer
very helpful thanks
You're welcome mate!
Whaaaa, such angle
Great video. Do you think the RAS is worth it?
For something as big as an S-Class, I'd say it's absolutely useful. It's technology that also tends to find its way into performance cars as well, but for that kind of thing I think its value is dubious.
@@Instamatic898 thank you Tony!! I am of the same mindset. I just don't think I need this functionality for daily driving in the suburbs!!
Good for long chassis
I love a good potty trick!
Will this be available in the eqs or is it only for s class
Do you still need to do wheel alignment?
I pity whoever has to perform a wheel alignment on this thing.
Warthog
i need your script for my college discussion
how does engine engage with the wheels after all the wheels have been steered.
Similar system to a front wheel drive vehicle, they have u-joints that can flex while still transmitting power from the engine.
Hope this answers your question unless I misread that and you intended something else
honda prelude same like that
nice slurp sound effect. that's weird as hell though.
I'm just glad somebody noticed :p
*laughs in Nissan ATTESA*
The chad S-Class laughs at the puny 1-deg articulation of the virgin HICAS.
@@Instamatic898 I jest, this is a seriously impressive bit of kit. That slalom footage is mind-bending!
Nice parking...then you can't open the door.
