How refreshing! I love that you are not just promoting buying high end fashion. I have noticed that many younger RUclipsrs are not noticing that cheaper brands also produce clothing that is good enough to become one of those well loved pieces that remain in one's wardrobe for decades!
you all probably dont give a shit but does any of you know a trick to get back into an Instagram account? I stupidly lost the password. I love any assistance you can give me
Thank you so much for sharing your experiences and allowing us to learn from you. Thank you to Team Trinny for putting in that hard work behind the screen! ❤️ I would really appreciate an episode on how to find certain high quality key pieces for people who are vegan and want to abstain from animal based products. The really nice long coats, suits often times use wool. Shoes and bags real leather etc. Keep spreading joy! ❤️
I love you Trinny. Happy new year! 💗 Sustainability means different things to different people. Some are taking a minimalist approach, shopping vintage stores, looking for ethically sourced fabrics, assessing cost per wear, but for some the ethics and work practice of a brand is important factor in sustainability. The ethics and working conditions for employees provided by brands like Zara and H&M are a real issue, but how do we change this? Boycotting the brands may affect these people more. High profile, people like Trinny could be a driving force for change. We all want inexpensive clothes, but it’s at the cost of people’s lives. These fast fashion retailers have forced many retailers in Australia to close their doors because they can’t compete. I applaud brands like Everlane and we should be supporting these brands more. I’m in no way perfect, I have more clothes than I need and love fashion, but I want to do more to change in 2020. The message I got from this is that we need to shop for what suits us and look for timeless quality styles that will work with other pieces. It’s nothing new, but I think we sometimes forget when you’ve got the sales assistant telling you how amazing you look in something you’ll only wear once. 🥰
It's wonderful that you keep your clothes for a long time and pay attention to cost per wear - that is a step towards sustainability. Unfortunately, the workers who produce Zara clothes in foreign countries don't get paid a fair wage, and often work in dangerous and unsafe conditions. Moreover, there's a lot of waste in the garment industry and purchasing new items promotes even more pollution. Most of the items at Zara are made from manmade fibres such as polyester, acrylic, and polyurethane, which take decades to biodegrade when they inevitably end up in the landfill. "Sustainable shopping with fast fashion" simply isn't possible unless you buy a fast fashion item secondhand. In fact, secondhand shopping is the most sustainable way to shop. I'd love for you to make a video about buying vintage or secondhand!
@@stephaniezambrano5829I thrift because I can get better quality than fast fashion for a fraction of the price. However, someone like Trinny can afford to purchase from sustainable/ethical brands, she just (apparently) chooses not to.
@@stephaniezambrano5829 how could you keep them for many years with such bad quality? I tried and didn't really work for me. And also because they are made with so many nasty materials they will pollute when you will through them away. We are just postponing the problem by doing so
These items are still in good shape just because they were never washed - dry cleand only, if ever. Every other item bought in Zara that is washed just once in washing machine is a rag.
Whilst you can find lovely pieces at thrift stores, unless you are living in a metropolitan centre, it is slim pickings. Shopping sustainable is a privilege in itself. Not everyone has options. She is advising people to shop thoughtfully, with purpose and to take care of your garments. This will reduce waste and limit needless consumption.
I always feel amazing looking at my wardrobe because I know I supported companies that care about the environment, the communities the clothes and materials were made in and offer women a safe environment and a living wage. Plus the stitching and materials are superb! Its a win, win, win, win......
I agree with Trinny... even though zara is a fast fashionable clothes it is also affordable and more even affordable when it’s on sale... but you have to choose the right one that suit’s for yourself. Wearing clothes still depends on how u carry ur self wether u are using an expensive one or not.
Thank you, Trinny. A balanced view, as opposed to the bloggers who have no recognition of people's variants in finance when discussing this topic. I've had things from Zara which have lasted years, 5 is my longest so far.
So much in my wardrobe is Zara and I am super picky about fit. Some seasons I buy one item (this year a green crinkly rain coat) and some I buy quite a bit. I love the unusual cuts and shapes Zara will come out with from time to time.
I have that long blue vest with the black faux fur! It truly is a classic. I wore it so many ways when it came back and it hangs in my closet to this day waiting for another chance to play.
My husband bought me a faux fur leopard coat as a wedding present and its very plush.....We have been married 23 years I love the coat because its never gone out of fashion♥️🇦🇺

Looking forward to try these types of jackets. Love that preciousness comment. I strive to get clothes that fit well wherever they are from. So inspirational. Thank you
For many reasons many of us are not on the '100% sustainable' train in terms of only purchasing second hand or not purchasing 'fast fashion'. This is an excellent video that shows that purchasing from a 'fast fashion' store is not so toxic if you are mindful and purchase items that will still be wearable for years to come, which has an enormous environmental impact. Years ago my friends daughter would go shopping every weekend for cheap clothes that would be worn once and then be left on the floor. It was revolting. Today consumers are becoming more aware of their impact and stores like Zara provide an outlet for well priced good quality options that can last for years if you look after them properly. Many 'designer' clothes that cost hundreds of dollars on sites such as Net-a-Porter are made of acrylic and polyester. I have no doubt many of them are made in the same factories as Zara products. As someone who loves clothes, who was raised by a woman who loved clothes, I have a wardrobe that is a mix of designer, high street, vintage and thrift store. The thing is if you don't have access to a decent thrift store, you won't go to one. Buying vintage is also not always 'cheap' and if you are on a budget it's all about getting the most out of what you buy and what you can afford. It's easy to be on your soapbox regarding sustainability and ethics within the fashion industry, but we all need to be clothed and if you are not dressed well you are judged. Sometimes it's the difference between getting a job or not, for others its about social inclusion. We all belong to a tribe and what we wear is usually a reflection of where we feel we belong. Far be it for me to write a tresise on the importance of fashion...or maybe I will, but not here Trinny, worry not! xxx

But clothes are just so much FUN and It’s really nice to wear something which you’ve gotten from someone you love because it’s been theirs at least when you start getting older and raid your moms wardrobe etc. It’s Very much playing dress up!
Zara in Asia (Hong Kong) seems very different from what you show in your videos... And can you make more twinning videos I love to see Chole, because I’m a similar build.. big on the chest and petite frame 5’ tall, and I can’t figure what to wear.
Hello Trinny! my name is Kimberly and I live in the United States I just stumbled upon your channel and I must say I’ve been watching you endlessly and I absolutely love the education that you are giving to me thank you very much. I think it is important to love whatever we keep in our closets. And Trinnys enthusiasm teaches that. She talks about respect for our clothes. So her closet is curated. If we all had only clothes we loved in our closets the textile industry would not be half as polluting as it is today. Trying to find biodegradable clothes could be a next step. But what about lycra?
Please can we start a campaign for Zara to do up to a size 24 because it isn't fair that those of us that are fatter cannot experience Zara. What about body positivity and inclusivity, it is 2020 and some of us want to be Zara customers but cannot. Please Trinny, head this up, you must be their biggest fan woman which the greatest profile. Do it for the fatties! We want Zara too!!!!
Would you also consider styling vintage pieces, picked up some pieces from a flea market but not sure how to style a particular fitted suit jacket, as the skirt is too dated ... thanks
Is there any way to un-crush velvet? Not on what's suppose to be crushed but when you have a plain velvet piece that has an area has gotten too smushed?

I don't really feel good about wearing long with long (that is your long wide jeans with long blazers). It looks to long and too heavy. I'd much prefer short with long or long with short. What's your thought?
mmmm, yes I am you and you are me, my wardrobe is full of items from years ago too, not expensive stuff just things I love,...keepers. Unusual things that I never want to lose or that I think my daughter might love one day. Even have a blouse over 30yrs believe it or not, chiffon, beautiful colours, cost me couple of pounds my daughter has been using it for a few years now, looks exactly as it did when I bought it!
I love that you finished with my fav sequin shirt which i wore for this new year’s eve with so much joy! :D one question though, how do you wash your sequins?
Zara is in no way a form of sustainable fashion. I really do wish you would cover second hand shopping, thrifting and learning to sew. Watch The True Cost, which is on Netflix. I do like you Trinny but you are not at all champion of sustainability.
Oooh where she lives there are the best charity shops with loads of designer stuff. Sloane Street charity shopping is a brill way to spend an afternoon in London
I think on behalf of Trinny she does really make use out of what she buys. Even though she has a lot she keeps it for a while and still reuses it, which is what I think most people struggle with.
This is more of a be discerning with your purchases, from wherever they come from rather than just buy stuff that you wear 3 times then bin rather than sustainable in terms of low chemical use, low water us, low air miles, organic, fair trade or well made and so will last hopefully meaning less to landfill etc... Mainstream consumerism has to scale back, we have reached peak consumer bit the planet and people issues are starting to gain traction. Also, clothes will become more expensive in the next five years so repairing, restyling, rewearing will become more commonplace even for people who can afford to current shop in Harvey Nicks.
Trinny love what you do please do size 18 plus that Zara does not do ? Yes I'm disabled and housebound but when I'm taken out in my wheelchair my husband said I'm a dedicated follower of fashion but need help ❤
Trinny - i absolutely love you. You have reignited my love of color. I came across this book and its blown my mind about the horrendous practices for sequin clothes! It might impact on ur future purchases. Lucy Siegle's book 'To Die For'
I’m afraid you don’t make sense when it comes to “sustainable” fast fashion. I’m a fan of yours but marrying the two concepts when it comes to health, safety, environment, chemical usage, and the wellbeing of workers is not sensible and it actually is unethical.
I think we really need a new international sizing standard in cm. It could be based on the most critical one or two measurements for each type of garment, like bust and shoulders for tops and waist and hips for bottoms. Vanity sizing is so out of control in the US, and sizing is so meaningless, that I take sizes varying from S to XL. Even within one brand like Zara, the sizing is impossible. Trinny, please take up this cause and advocate for a new standard, you are the only woman who could do it.
Standard sizing has already been proposed on the past more than once but neither the manufacturers nor retailers could agree on anything enough to achieve it. That is why that idea will not work now. Plus since then, we have had the introduction of the Internet. The practical logistics of regulating the sheer number of foreign manufacturers now available worldwide, which simply didn't exist before, makes standard sizing EVEN LESS likely than when the idea was first suggested.
Sustainable to me should be buying clothes you love and want to wear for a long time. People have become so used to throwing a way clothes simply because supposedly it is not in fashion. It is ridiculous. As a child there wasn't a lot of money I had to wear my clothes until they were unwearable. If you can't afford the new sustainable which is very expensive buy what you love and will wear until it falls apart only then buy new. As for second hand where I live in New York that is not a cheap option many of the things can cost as much as something from a fast fashion brand.
I have always shopped this way. My body, alas, did not follow. Hence, I have three pairs of all leather slacks (gorgeous) which after three children will no longer fit at the waist but I am so attached to them I can’t bear to let go. I have other things that are such forever clothes and suffer the same fate. My body simply won’t hold up for the ten to 15 years that my clothes have! And I also give lots of these gems to Goodwill or the Salvation Army. I am not needy enough in my relative wealth to feel justified in making a profit on top of having had years of wear. (I think those who buy designer bags with an eye to making a profit are owned by their bags and not the reverse. It is a “cheap, cheesy” orientation to living and dressing.) I will, however, continue to buy the clothes I love, but I’ll have to buy the things that fit my altered and aging body.
Vanish OxyAction Crystal white, will turn natural cotton organic white shirts, crystal white. Old dingy white anything, even pale blue towels. So I imagine it should work on lace blouses.
Thank you so much Trinny, the way you spoke about differing budgets was very considerate and appreciated x
Glad this video helped X

@@TrinnyLondon thank you so very much xx
Trinny - i absolutely love you. You have reignited my love of color. I came across this book and its blown my mind about the horrendous practices for sequin clothes! It might impact on ur future purchases.
Lucy Siegle's book 'To Die For'
Very true.
I’m afraid you don’t make sense when it comes to “sustainable” fast fashion. I’m a fan of yours but marrying the two concepts when it comes to health, safety, environment, chemical usage, and the wellbeing of workers is not sensible and it actually is unethical.
I agree Leila. It was a stretch to present sustainable and ethical fashion this way.
I agree with you there always room for more piece off clot
Why only sustainable? Not Ethical?
I can’t Imagine these beautiful things are from Zara.
How about hanging velvet inside out to prevent hanger marks…
I agree Trinny... Zara's sizing sucks. Its not an all inclusive company. That really puts me off Zara. So that REALLY makes Zara a nil for me.
In Australia Zara isn't that cheap...
It is a “cheap, cheesy” orientation to living and dressing.)
I will, however, continue to buy the clothes I love, but I’ll have to buy the things that fit my altered and aging body.
Vanish OxyAction Crystal white, will turn natural cotton organic white shirts, crystal white. Old dingy white anything, even pale blue towels. So I imagine it should work on lace blouses.
