Here's a useful tip that may save you a LOT of heartache! I bought an ICF-2002 off of Ebay. It was in excellent condition. But it wouldn't function on batteries! I opened it up, checked continuity for all the connections in the P.S, but everything checked OK. Then I noticed, the (+) on the batteries didn't seem to seat, fully. I went to the store, checked different battery brands, and sure enough, the ones I had bought (Walmart's "GV" brand) had slightly wider (+) "buttons." I then got some "Duracells"---God awful price!--but they worked, just fine. Those "GV" batteries are decent, I've never had a problem with them. but it seems that, not ALL batteries of the same size have identical dimensions.

Hey in these radios the most important is the short wave bands, the bands of am/FM are not important, because and FM bands can be captured with any radio of low quality.
Yes that is right but some prefare listening FM station on them as they produce excellent quality audio playing music on FM band too. Listening SW was always the main goal on these receivers as they were very sensitive and accurate on frequency thanks to PLL tuning technology Sony used on these radio. Many thanks for supporting the channel.
