Brilliant job with the repairs Loz. Great drills Elloitt's, British built to last. It looks well along side the Medding's a winning duo. Tony

Nice Sherlock Holmesing. It's a bugger when things refuse to go back together the way they should until the "Aha!" moment. ✌

Hi Loz, excellent job on Elliott. It looks and sounds fantastic, well done. What on earth was someone doing in the drift slot, looks absolutely horrendous, I guess not everyone is born with mechanical sympathy! Cheers, Jon

Very helpful video, Thanks for sharing your expertise
I have same spindle leak but don't want to do a full strip down.
Do you think it would be possible to remove the spindle and then unscrew the oil seal retainer working upwards with a slotted piece of steel similar to what you used to tighten yours, without disturbing the back gear assembly ? kind regards Mark

yea you should be able to do that Mark. might be easier tipping the drill on its side though mate.

What size oil seal and orings did you use? I have the same issues as you plus bearing chatter so looks like I need a full rebuild
