I just ordered the Asrock Nova X870E , after rebate just paid 325.00 us dollars . is almost the same performance and features like the Taichi and even way better VRM than the Asus Hero X870E . Asrock is a underrated motherboard brand that offer flagship and feature performance that other manufacturers charge you for this hundreds dollars more
@@connorfrancis56 this was my experience until a few generations of cpus & ram speeds were being broken on Taichi boards exclusively. That put them on the radar for me. sadly my core P5 cannot fit an eatx board so i may be compromising with something else.
in your experience would you recommend placing some metal liquid on the cpu heatsink or regular thermal paste? i have done it with my 8700k and ekwb watercooler and so far i have no problems, running really cool, just wanted to know your input. also do you think there is any difference in terms of quality built between the normal Taichi and the Lite one? i hate that the Lite doesnt have ez release on the gpu.

There never were any even with X670, always wanted a taichi board but this was a no go for me.. I have to ask, since it's Extended ATX, will if actually fit a normal ATX case like Lian Li O11 EVO?

Is it possible you will be testing both the 670 & 870 Taichi boards with an identical processor like the 7800x3d or 7950x3d with the same game & compare frame rates across both mobos?

I ended up just ordering the Taichi off Newegg, because none of the Australian stores seem to be selling it. Apparently I should receive it by the 8th October. Also, I use 7 drives and a Capture Card. Even if the PCIe lane drops to 8x, performance of the GPU doesn't exactly drop much - I've tested running a GPU at 8x vs 16x before, as well as Gen3 vs Gen4. Nothing to be concerned about.

The cheapest x870e board on Newegg is the GIGABYTE X870E AORUS ELITE WIFI7 for $320. I'm an old school gamer that had Gigabyte and Asus builds since 2000. I don't believe in spending too much money on a board as I don't overclock. I put more money on components that factors more into performance.
Other than the cheesy light up gears, this is far and away the most beautiful board I've seen. I love the clean lines and color choices. Very nice looking layout to. And those VRMs! I'm sure I would love to own it, but the price will probably be sickening :/
@@Takeme_DCUO The Lite losses the easy release slot, back plate for cooling and I think one or two other quality of life things, besides the aesthetics. Having had more time to learn about the new boards, the Nova is the one for me. But everyone else has figured that out too now and they aren't in stock anywhere. The main functional difference is the choice between a second 8x that's shares lanes, vs no lane sharing and a 1x Gen 3 and 2x Gen 4. The later configuration is enough to install both a sound card and a new network solution if it's ever needed. With up to five m.2 slots, that's a much more realistic scenario for me. It's $100 cheaper too, give or take, if it comes back without a price hike.

The Taichi Lite was the board I was most interested in. Unfortunately it doesn't have the easy release GPU bracket, and removing your GPU from that super cramped setup will be a nightmare, but I really don't feel like spending another $250- $350 to get the normal Taichi that has the exact same performance other than that one feature. edit: $50 difference. Would have just used a strikethrough, but for whatever reason, that doesn't seem to work anymore on RUclips.
@@arthur_pd Yeah, I found that out when I looked at Newegg. It's pretty shocking that there's only a $50 difference. Functionally for the most part the two boards are the same, but the normal one has the Ez-release for the GPU which is kind of a big deal. The backplate is also nice.
@@rbitrossome Every six months or so if you actually keep your system clean. Not that often, but it's enough for the cramped and hard to reach clip to be super annoying.
Which may be even more expensive yet. And looking at AM4 longevity, AM5 will likely get same support to live a bit longer. But then again, when the time comes, you can wait another 6 years for next socket because too expensive.

Sold my x670e Asus TuF after one year fight with turn pc on and reseting bios and bought x870e Taichi. Now everything is fine

Almost went with that one,but realized you can only use 1 NVMe or you will impact other component like GPU or USB4
